SCUBA DIVING
Run by Simon Gray – PADI Master Instructor, SMG
aims to provide the most fulfilling, enjoyable and
above all safe diving experiences for children and
adults from the age of 8 to 80!
Please book all places for these courses through
the Reception team at TSC on 01732 304123.
All courses booked through Recre8 and SMG
Scuba will require the correct medical forms
to be completed, and if necessary a doctors
certificate obtained. Please return forms as
quickly as possible.
BUBBLEMAKER SESSION 8 – 10 YEARS
The Bubblemaker experience is an excellent way to introduce
children to scuba diving in a fun and exciting environment under
the direct supervision of a member of the Professional Association
of Diving Instructors (PADI). Participants must be confident and
competent in the water. This session lasts for approximately 75
minutes, during which your child will be familiarised with scuba
diving equipment and will take their first breath underwater!
PADI SEAL TEAM COURSE 8 – 10 YEARS
This more advanced course is suitable for young divers who are looking
for an action-packed, adventurous programme filled with exciting scuba
“Aqua Missions.” Supported by a video, manual and logbook, the PADI
Seal Team programme covers the basics of diving, including buoyancy
control, mask clearing, and regulator recovery.
MASTER SEAL TEAM 8-10 YEARS
Some courses require participants to study a
dive manual and complete knowledge reviews
before the first session.
Once you have paid for your course, medical
forms and any workbooks will be sent out to you.
Please contact Simon Gray on 07915 604770
or by email at [email protected] for
more details.
SMG Scuba also run open water dives, advanced
open water dives, rescue diver courses and live
aboard dive holidays. (Please contact Simon Gray for
more details).
The Master Seal Team is the follow-on from the Seal Team course
(which must be completed before this course). Develop your
scuba skills by taking part in 10 exciting Aqua Missions including
Creature ID Specialist, Navigation Specialist, Night Specialist, Snapshot
Specialist and Wreck Specialist amongst many more! The course builds
on experience already gained on the Seal Team and provides a great
preparation to enrol in the PADI Open Water Diver course in the future.
PADI OPEN WATER REFERRAL COURSE 12 YEARS+
Ever thought of exploring the Great Barrier Reef, swimming amongst
exotic fish, or diving with dolphins? If so, why not enrol on our PADI
Open Water Referral Course for expert tuition from our dedicated
SMG Scuba coaches. On successful completion of the course you
will be ready for the next step, completing four open water dives
with an instructor. This can be organised through SMG Scuba or
can be done at any PADI centre in the world. You will then get the
PADI Open Water Diver Certificate and a licence for some amazing
underwater experiences.
DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING 10+
The course starts with a brief introduction to scuba diving theory
and basic safety concepts followed by an orientation to the
equipment students will be using. The dive is all about having a
fun and safe introduction to scuba. After a practice at operating
equipment and practising breathing techniques participants get to
scuba dive under close supervision from their instructor.
REFRESHER SESSIONS 10+
The scuba refresher session is designed as a skills review for the
qualified diver. We recommend that if you have not dived for 6
months then it is important to refresh your dive skills in a confined
water environment before diving in Open Water.

ADP
for Summer Courses
Due to the amount of
building work at the
school this summer we are
relocating the registration,
drop-off and collection
points from their usual site
at the Orchard Centre to a
central hub at Tonbridge
School Centre.
By moving registration
we will avoid congestion
and ensure a much safer
environment for children and
parents as they arrive at and
leave the site.
All children will be
collected by their coach
or teacher and taken to
where their courses are
taking place. As usual,
after first day registration,
children under six should
be taken directly to
the course venue and
collected from there.

CANCELLATIONS
If you find you have to make a cancellation, fees paid (less the nonrefundable deposit) will be returned provided notification takes place
at least one month prior to the course/activity. As later cancellation
can affect the viability of the course itself and lead to others being
disappointed, refunds can only be considered exceptionally. We
reserve the right to cancel any course, in which case we will offer an
alternative or, if unacceptable, give a complete refund including the
deposit.
PHOTOGRAPHY
It is possible photographs and videos may be taken during the
courses for use in future ‘Recre8 Tonbridge’ brochures and on
the school website. Please advise us in writing if you do not wish
your child/children to feature in them. Some courses feature a
performance on the final day and parents often ask to take pictures
of the whole group. If you do not give permission for your child to
be photographed, again, please advise us in writing, or advise a
member of staff if attending the performance in person.
AWARDS
On some sports courses it is possible to gain national awards, the
cost of which is included in the price of the course. However, it
should be noted that some children may not be able to achieve the
required standard in the time available.
CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT
If your child has clothing or equipment for the afternoon in a bag
that is too large to cope with, we can safely look after it in our office,
where it can be collected at any time. All art courses are potentially
messy and we therefore recommend your child wears old clothes.
ILLNESS OR INJURY
If in the unlikely event that your child becomes ill or is injured, we will
contact you to make you aware. You can then decide if you wish to
pick them up early. If your child requires hospital treatment and we
are unable to contact you or the person given as your emergency
contact, a member of staff will accompany them.
LOST PROPERTY
Lost property will be brought to Reception at TSC at the end of
each day where you may make enquiries about any items your
child/children have mislaid.
GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE
If there are any problems please come and see us. We are here to
help and would prefer to know of any problem straight away. Please
don’t wait until the course is over.
TERM TIME COURSES
Participants who wish to renew a course have priority booking over
new participants. However, payment must be received by the end
of the ‘current’ course, or your space may be allocated to a new
participant on the waiting list.
Term time courses must be paid for at the time of booking.
Adverse weather may lead to cancellations. Should this occur, we
will try to arrange alternative dates. Refunds will be at the discretion
of the Manager.
If you wish to cancel a course, a refund will only be granted in
exceptional circumstances.
LIABILITY
I accept that neither Tonbridge School nor its servants agents or
employees are under any liability whatsoever in respect of any
personal loss or injury which the participant may sustain whilst
in attendance on the course(s) except where the same is solely
attributable to the negligence or default of any officer, servant or
agent of the Company.
Summer holiday courses
REGISTRATION, LUNCH & BREAK TIMES
Our support team provides supervision at lunch and break times.
We are happy to look after children six years and over from 8.30am
before the morning courses and until 5.00pm at the end of the
afternoon courses - but please do not exceed these times.
All children except those under six should be left at, and collected
from, Tonbridge School Centre. After first day registration children
under 6 should be taken directly to the course venue and collected
from there.
During the breaks no formal instruction will be given, but our support
team will mix socially or take small groups out for informal sport
(weather permitting). Alternatively, pupils may watch a DVD, read,
or sit and talk to friends. Free drinks of squash are provided each
break and there are tuck shops where children can buy soft drinks
and snacks. If children are staying for the whole day, they will need
to bring a packed lunch
Children booked on Skills Academy and Scuba Diving courses will
need to register at TSC and will need to bring a packed lunch.
Children booked on the Golf course will need to register at
Tonbridge Golf Centre, Cannon Lane, Tonbridge TN9 1PP at
9.30am and will need to bring a packed lunch.
Security
We are always conscious of the need to maintain and, where
possible, improve the levels of supervision of children in our care
and continually review the security arrangements for our Holiday
Courses to ensure that any risk is as low as possible.
Each day, children should be escorted to the Tonbridge School
Centre and handed over to our staff, all of whom have their identity
clearly visible.
On collection, please do not ask children to wait for you anywhere
other than at the TSC – please collect them in person and escort
them back to your car or off site. This will enable us to ensure that
no one wanders off without adult supervision. Please advise us as
early as possible if your child/children will be picked up by someone
other than the person that drops them off.
For children under 6 years attending Multi-Skills, Mini-Olympics or
Gymnastics, parents will be shown where the course will take place
immediately following Registration on Day 1 (please allow a little
extra time for this). Thereafter drop-off and collection will take
place at that specific venue.
Please park in the Lower Gravel car park at TSC and walk to the
collection/drop-off points. Traffic gets very busy and we ask that
you do not park or wait in cars along the driveway. Minibuses will be
manoeuvring in this area and there may well be lots of pedestrians
of various ages.
Early and late clubs
We provide ample staff to supervise early arrivals and late pick-ups,
and in addition we keep a register in the TSC of all children arriving
early and/or leaving late. Please tick the appropriate box on the
application form if you intend to deliver your child or children early
(8.30-9.30am), or collect them late (4.30-5.30pm).
How to book
1.Make your selection of courses required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THOSE
BOOKING SUMMER HOLIDAY COURSES
6. If the early or late club is required, please tick the appropriate box
and add £5 per child to the total
7. To secure a place, you may pay a non-refundable deposit of £15
per child, per course, rather than the full fee. In this case please
provide credit/debit card details, send a cheque made payable
to ‘Tonbridge School’ or visit TSC reception to pay in person. A
confirmation email will be sent in acknowledgement of its receipt.
8. To confirm your place(s) the balance of fees due is required at
