7 – 7:30 p.m. Business Meeting
7:30 – 8 p.m. Social
Where:
Fleet Reserve Club

This year also includes a special tribute to the war of
1812 and the star-bangled banner. There will be tall
ships going up to Baltimore on Flag-Day weekend. I’m
hoping we can get a couple boats to go watch the
festivities in the inner harbor.
Keep an eye on the newsletter for the details of the
sailing season.
The Newsletter continues to be our primary source of
information about the club. But don’t forget to sign up
for meetup.com. It’s a very valuable tool and a great
way to find out about things happening that are too late
for the newsletter.
Very soon we will be rolling out our new revised website. Thanks to Eric Welch and Ardean Amato-Chase
for working on its development.
Greetings from the President
As I write this, I’m sitting in Starbucks in Half Day, Il..
It’s a beautiful sunny day. The temperature is about 80
degrees. That’s all good news. But the really good
news is that Christa’s little granddaughter Skyler is
finally home from the hospital and doing very well.
Thanks to all of you who have expressed your good
wishes over the past several months.
As always, we need volunteers for just about everything.
It only takes a little effort and the rewards keep on
coming. If you are looking to start a political career you
might consider running for election to the board or for a
position as an officer. We need a new President Elect.
Come to the general meeting and make some friends
Winter is done at this point. It was not much in
Maryland. But in some parts of the country there was a
winter. The club owes a great deal of thanks to all those
involved in running ski trips this year. Thanks again to
Barb Hagelgans for Telluride. Thanks to Eric Welch
and Liz Woodruff for Canaan Valley and double thanks
to George Clinton for making the Snowmass and Sunday
River trips successful. George really stepped up this
year. Thanks George.
Thanks everybody, Jim Haude
[email protected]
Bobbie Carew recently had a meeting to lay out a sailing
schedule for the coming sailing season. We will have
full moon cruises every month of the summer and a blue
moon cruise in August. In addition we will have the
usual overnight cruises and if we can get volunteers,
maybe a day trip or two. If you would like to go sailing,
contact Bobbie Carew. Thanks Bobbie for volunteering.

Ski Committee Report
See You On The Water,
The Ski Committee met, and we will be deciding what
trips Club Crabtowne is going to host for 2013. So far
we have the Ski Canaan cross country/downhill trip;
Blue Ridge Ski Council is going to Big Sky in Montana ,
and for their Europe trip, Les Trois Vallees. I am also
taking names of persons that have expressed an interest
in leading or assisting on a trip. I might have a spot for
you. Give it a try!

The activities committee needs your input and help.
Please submit any activity ideas to either Patti or Karen.
We also need help planning a rafting trip. Any 'rafters'
out there? Patti would love to tame that white water.
Does anyone have information on minature golf and/or
the driving range? Karen has one golf club, a driver, and
is looking for something to hit.
Ski in excess!

Watersports Committee Report
The recently held Watersports Meeting was a record
breaker. New members and captains, volunteer trip
leaders and the 2012 calendar just about FILLED with
leaders and assistants. Thanks to all who participated.
Also from the meeting a group of kayak committee
members, which resulted in several informational emails
on kayaking sites in our area. We still have a need for
leaders and assistants for several boat day trips. And I
am still looking for a waterfront location for a get
together. Please email me at [email protected].
Looking ahead, a second Skipper/Crew social at Ed
Moses' home on Saturday, April 7th. Last week in April
and first week in May - volunteer some of your time to
help skippers get their boats ready to go. Spring
cleaning means washing, waxing, etc. I'll be taking
names at the March & April meetings. Working on a
boat will give you points with the skippers. First cruise
will be to Galesville for anchoring out and going ashore
for dinner. Landlubbers may drive down and meet
us for dinner. Next day we'll head over to Tilghman
Island and return home on Monday. Watch for kayak
trips in Edgewater in April and Quiet Waters in May.
