2016 Quit Forest Rally
22-24 April 2016
WELCOME
The West Australian Car Club (Inc) takes great pleasure in welcoming all competitors to the 2016 Quit
Forest Rally, Round 1 of the Kumho Tyre Australian Rally Championship®
This year with a change of date, competitors are reminded to book their accommodation early as it is school
holidays and a long weekend public holiday on the following Monday (ANZAC Day). Although this may
cause some inconvenience, the good news is we can expect a bumper crowd of spectators out on the rally,
especially on Friday evening in Busselton.
After a number of landscaping changes to Barnard Park, the City of Busselton has now finished the ground
work. This will allow us to park the cars on the grass under lights and make it a lot easier for crews and
spectators to move around. The new layout will also incorporate are “half lap warm up” before each stage.
The changes will be a lot better for competitors and spectators.
On the Nannup Stages, there is a few changes to ensure each year we have something different to keep it
as fresh as possible. The roads are in excellent condition and will be a joy to drive on. The Shire of Nannup
has widened the main street which will improve the space for each service team and make it easier to drive
the middle.
As with previous years, the rally weekend will be a “Motorsport Extravaganza”. We are looking forward to a
strong field of 4WD and 2WD cars contesting the Kumho Tyre Australian Rally Championship®, plus
Classics, WA Rally Championship and the WA Clubman Cup Series all being contested.
The Shannons Busselton Sprint will also be run as a Rallysprint, to encourage our tarmac rally teams to
come down for a weekend of motorsport.
We will be using the CAMS Event Entry System to assist in the streamlining of entries at future rallies. This
has worked very successfully in the 2015 WA Rally Championship. We ask that your support this system
but don’t hesitate to contact the Event Secretary if you have any queries.
Like every other event, the Quit Forest Rally relies heavily on the sponsors that each year contribute in
many ways and without them the rally wouldn’t be the huge success that it is today. The majority of our
sponsors have been with the event for a very long time.
Our major sponsor, Healthway (Quit) is a terrific supporter of rallying and we encourage everyone to
support their message of stopping smoking and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Competitors are also requested to acknowledge, thank and support wherever and whenever possible the
other event sponsors including Tourism Western Australia, Royalties for Regions, Department of Regional
Development and Lands, Trade Hire, Fineline Print, AAAC Towing, Sushi Digital and Shannon’s Insurance.
Once again this year our media supporters will ensure that the Quit Forest Rally will be very well promoted
throughout Western Australia both before and during the Rally. Please recognise the efforts of the West
Australia newspaper, the local paper The Busselton-Dunsborough Times and the south west radio stations
Hot FM and Radio West. One of our biggest sponsors is the ARC itself, with varied media support including
website, television and promotion.
The 2016 Quit Forest Rally could not be run without the support of the local councils in Busselton and
Nannup, The Department of Parks and Wildlife, the Forest Products Commission, the Police and all the
local community groups and Businesses who assist us in making the rally run.
And last but definitely by no means least; the Quit Forest Rally has a team of over four hundred and fifty
(450) dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. Many of these people spend the week prior to the rally in
Busselton and or Nannup carrying out last minute preparations to ensure that nothing is forgotten.
Sometimes they spend long days and nights in varying weather conditions but consider it “all part of the fun”
and necessary to ensure the rally’s success. Please take the time to thank the officials for the support they
give us all to make it possible for the rally to run.
Once again welcome to our event this year. We hope you have a safe and exciting event and remember, if
there is anything that we can do to assist you either before or during the event please do not hesitate to
give us a call.

then be given a manual countdown of 15, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Go (waved flag). The time will start
when the car breaks the beam. An Actual Start time based on the next whole minute will be

and Stage Elapsed Times.

and placed on the road section immediately after the end of the Stage. The crew only will then
be allowed to work on their car but must still arrive at the following Time Control within their
Late Time Limit. Any car not completing SS1 which cannot be made ready for SS2 at the
originally allocated time will be given a Maximum Time for SS2 also but must still arrive at the
following Time Control within their Late Time Limit. This also applies for SS11.

the purposes of determining if the crews have completed the Stage in the correct manner.

Stage again as per Article 12.3(iv).

time considered by the Stewards to be the fairest will be given to the crew for the missed stages. Crews
are to enter their own start & finish times on the Time Card.
