Go or NoGo for operations based on SHOLS calculations Visual landing aid on the helideck The complete helicopter operation can be compared to limits on all procedures simultaneously Helicopter mission planning tool Reduce the stress level for the crew and pilot during landing and take-off © KONGSBERG Future concepts for improved availability: - Additional Measurements in SHOLS - A Landing Period Designator © KONGSBERG Future Concepts – Additional Measurements in SHOLS Heave and heave rate. Reduces the probability for hard landings due to limited capacity of the helicopter to follow the deck dynamics. Measure horizontal accelerations. Reduce the probability to roll-over when standing on the deck. A Motion Severity Index (MSI) is under development. © KONGSBERG Future Concepts – Landing Period Designator (LPD) Measures position, velocity and acceleration and calculates an Energy Index- EI value Determines the rate a ship can move because of its hydrodynamic forces against the hull and the dynamic characteristics of the matching helicopter Determines the risetime in seconds for the accumulated energies in a ship to produce a motion from calm to a high risk condition (from green/very safe to red/danger) The EI value is compared to a deck availability scale displayed to the user © KONGSBERG Green Deck Deck Stable (EI value 0-1.74) Green-Amber Deck Available Energy in Deck (EI value 1.74-4) Amber Deck Available Considerable Energy in Deck (EI value 4-10) Red Deck Deck Out-of Limits (EI value >10) Wave-Off HMS 100 LPD Tested by the US Navy since 1997 and also by the Royal Navy Part of the US Navy Dynamic Interface program The equipment is now in its final evaluation phase by the US Navy © KONGSBERG WORLD CLASS – through people, technology and dedication WORLD CLASS – through people, technology and dedication © KONGSBERG
