Denise Watkins - Owner
After 18 years as a software and systems engineer and director in the satellite and wireless
telecommunications industry, Denise Watkins launched her second career as a community
volunteer, mother of three and owner of the Stealth. She holds a BS in Mathematics from UC-Irvine.
Watkins’ experience in sports management began as a co-founder and owner of the Primal
Quest Adventure Racing organization. Primal Quest (PQ) was an expedition-length adventure race
that has been called one of the most difficult athletic events in the world and was cited as the most
prestigious expedition event in North America. The race once featured the largest prize purse in
adventure racing.
Inspired by their children’s interest in lacrosse, Watkins and her husband, Bill, became season
ticket holders with the San Jose Stealth when the team was relocated to San Jose from Albany, NY
in 2003. From the very first game, they were hooked. In June 2007, Watkins and a small group of
investors purchased the team from the previous ownership group. Watkins is committed to proving
that lacrosse has a place in the Pacific Northwest, and not just as a sport, but also as a tool for
child development.
In addition to her responsibilities as an NLL owner, Watkins is active in the community, helping
to support several Charities. Currently, Ms. Watkins serves as a trustee on the UC Merced
Foundation Board. UC Merced is the newest University in the University of California education
system. UC Merced opened in Fall 2005 and has grown to serve over 6,000 students. This exciting
University is on track to hit 10,000 students by 2020. The first new American research university
in the 21st century, with a mission of research, teaching and service. A majority of the UC Merced
students are the first in their families to attend higher education.
She also serves as an officer and chair of the development committee for the Livermore Valley
Performing Arts Center (LVPAC). LVPAC has a community art incubator, Art studios and a state
of the art 500 seat theater that opened in fall of 2007. Additionally, Watkins is on the board of the
Stealth companion charity, Sticks-2-Schools. Under her leadership, the Sticks-2-Schools program
delivers lacrosse to local schools and communities in Washington State to get kids active and to
fight childhood obesity. Schools are provided sticks, balls, curriculum and on-site support from a
player representative so that “soft” lacrosse can be integrated into the schools PE curriculum at no
cost to the schools. Sponsors are found to underwrite the costs of the program.
Ms Watkins helped co-found and was president of the Pleasanton Schools Educational
Enrichment Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to heighten and maintain art, science,
and other learning programs for Pleasanton Unified School District for 13 years.

Days Off – The club will, at its discretion, designate days off for players and coaches during the season. There is no media availability
on these days and the club’s practice facility shall be considered closed to all members of the media. In rare instances where scheduling
challenges exist for members of the media, and at the discretion of the communications coordinator, requests for individual players may be
accepted.
GAME DAY PHOTOGRAPHERS
The NLL and the Vancouver Stealth employ a strict control policy to keep floor side photography areas free from congestion. Floor side
photography is restricted to working media on specific assignment for a recognized sports publication or news service.
All floor side photographers are reminded to stay in designated areas that surround the perimeter of the playing floor and to remain out of
the team bench areas. For admission to the floor level, media accreditation must be displayed at all times.
Note: The Vancouver Stealth does not provide accreditation to image gathering services. All image requests can be forwarded to the
coordinates above.
MEDIA POLICY - DURING PRACTICE WEEK
PRACTICE FACILITY
The Vancouver Stealth practice once per week at their training facility, the Langley Events Centre Fieldhouse (7888-200 Street, on the
East side of the complex, behind the main arena).
Please contact Kevin Berar, Media Relations Coordinator for information pertaining to Stealth practices.
All Vancouver Stealth practices are open to the media and the public, unless specifically stated otherwise by the club.
MEDIA ACCESS
Vancouver Stealth head coach Dan Perreault will be available to the media at the conclusion of each practice. Any requests to interview
assistant coaches or lacrosse operations staff must first be approved by the Media Relations Coordinator at least one day in advance.
Players will be available for on-floor interviews at the conclusion of each practice as well as inside the Stealth dressing room. Contact
with players and coaches during practice is prohibited. Media are also prohibited from the Stealth training room at all times. The filming
period consists of fundamental and individual drills only. The filming of all other team drills is prohibited.
The club will, at its option, prohibit any filming during practice without prior notification. It is suggested that camera operators be on site
at least 15 minutes ahead of designated practice times to allow for any change in schedule.
INTERVIEW REQUESTS
All interview requests for players, coaching staff and team management must be approved in advance by the club’s
Media Relations Coordinator, Kevin Berar.
