TILE AND STONE INSTALLATION MORTARS
ScratchBond ™ 8200
Scratchcoat Mortar for Metal
Lath
ScratchBond 8200 is a Portland-cement-based
scratchcoat mortar for use with metal lath on
plywood subfloors and countertops prior to
setting ceramic tile and stone. Use it with metal
lath fastened to exterior-grade plywood to
create a “semi-floating” underlayment system,
reducing the potential for in-plane cracking of
installed ceramic or stone.
Features
• Economical
• Portland-cement-based
• Mix with water only.
Uses
• Apply to metal lath that is attached to
exterior-grade plywood. Doing so creates
a “semi-floating” underlayment system that
reduces the potential for in-plane cracking
of installed ceramic tile or stone.
• Install ceramic tile later over the installation
of metal lath and ScratchBond 8200.
• For residential and commercial interior
floors and countertops
• Approved substrate:
– Exterior-grade plywood (on interior
residential floors and countertops only)
