Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a happy and busy summer, and that you’re all signed up for
various activities under the NHCS umbrella. Your Board of Directors had busy days
throughout the summer break, attending to details on your behalf: We solicited
memberships at the VIEX, worked with the Carpet Bowlers to complete and submit
an application to the New Horizons for Seniors Programs for government grant
money, and attended to details re: schedules, programs, and communication. Thursday afternoon entertainment and tea in the Bowen Auditorium continues. Michele still requires volunteers for these events from 11:30 am until about
2:30 pm. It’s not hard work, but always made easier with more willing hands...can
YOU spare some time to help?
On September 30 we will celebrate “National Seniors’ Day” in the Bowen Complex
Lobby, from10 am until 12 pm. At the time of writing, I’m not sure what will
transpire, but it will probably include refreshments! Stay awhile after your morning
activity, or come early for your afternoon session, enjoy an extra social moment!
October 19 is set aside for a New Members’ Welcome. Those who have joined
NHCS since October 2015 will be invited to come and hear a bit about NHCS
history, meet other new members, tour the Bowen Complex facility, and partake
of refreshments. My thanks to Michele and her office staff for getting out the
invitations.
Board Meetings will be September 9 and October 7 at 9:30 am. If you have good
ideas, or complaints, time is available for you to express them – kindly advise in
advance so your time will be included in the agenda.
All for now! Take care!

The Card Lady
Do you know a member of NHCS who is
hospitalized, confined to home through illness, or
a wife or husband who is bereaved of their loved
one? If so, please call Lorraine, The Card Lady, at
250.585.2458 or
email [email protected].
A card will be sent out on behalf of the Nanaimo
Harbour City Seniors. It would be nice for them to
know that someone is thinking of them. Let’s send
a card to:
Pay a little visit,
In this friendly little way,
By showing many thoughts have come,
To brighten up their day.

as a new player. Do you have questions about
playing rhythms, strumming and changing
chords? Do you want to learn how chords are
created? Feel comfortable while learning basic,
beginner music theory. Space is limited.
Prerequisite for this course is a Beginner Ukulele class.
Looking for a Beginner Ukulele
