Donna Abood
Chief Executive Officer

Donna Abood is the CEO of Colliers International South Florida. She has served as principal of
her own commercial real estate firm since 1989, building a reputation as one of the most trusted
and highly-recognized names in South Florida real estate. With over 25 years of experience,
Ms. Abood has been responsible for the leasing and oversight of several million square feet of
office buildings throughout the region. She is responsible for overseeing all operations of the
firm, including production, profitability and client services of the leasing division. The firm
currently leases and manages more than 3.9 million square feet of commercial property in the Tri-County area. At
the Beacon Council, Ms. Abood serves on the Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee. She has also
chaired the Membership Committee and has chaired the “Local Business, Local Jobs” Task Force. The Task Force
is focused on assisting local businesses in overcoming obstacles they face, with the ultimate goal of increasing
Miami-Dade County’s employment base and increasing the local business capital investment in the region. Ms.
Abood is an Executive Board Member for the Florida State University Real Estate Institute. She also currently
serves on the Board of Directors for Miracle Mile/Actors’ Playhouse, a theatre for the performing arts that enriches
South Florida’s cultural vitality with the highest quality classic and contemporary live productions. Ms. Abood is a
customer-service driven, detail-oriented professional who always delivers a high level of service. She has mentored
many women in the commercial real estate industry, many of whom have gone on to be very successful in their
own right with other firms or have started their own firms. Some are still working with her today. In the past six
years, Ms. Abood was honored as an “Ultimate CEO” in Miami-Dade County, was awarded Business Woman of the
Year by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and was named one of Real Estate Forum’s National Women of
Influence.
Anthony Blanco

Mr. Blanco has over 15 years of experience in the shopping center industry and has specialized
in the disposition of shopping centers for over 10 years. Mr. Blanco has been involved in the
sale of nearly $1B of retail properties throughout the Southeastern United States on behalf
of institutions, developers and private investors. Mr. Blanco holds a Bachelor of Science in
Accounting degree and a Master of Science in Taxation degree from Florida International
University. Mr. Blanco is also a Certified Public Accountant in Florida, an active member of the International
Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and holds a Real Estate Salesperson License in Florida. Mr. Blanco lives in
Coral Gables with his wife and two daughters.
Robert Finvarb

Robert Finvarb is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and has been a member of
the Florida Bar since 1993. Following his graduation from law school, he became associated
with the law firm of Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A. in Miami. In
1998, Robert became General Counsel of Williams Island Associates, a leading developer of
luxury condominiums and hotels in South Florida. In 2000, Robert served as Vice President
and General Counsel of Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a publicly traded real estate and telecommunications company. In 2002, Robert formed Robert Finvarb Companies and led the development efforts for the 174-room Marriott
Courtyard Hotel in Dania Beach, Florida. In 2003, the Company developed the 123-room Residence Inn by
Marriott hotel in Chantilly (Dulles Airport South), Virginia and, in 2006, Robert spearheaded the development
efforts of the 135-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Tallahassee, Florida. Recently, Robert Finvarb
Companies co-developed the 133-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Melbourne, Florida which opened for
business in January 2008. In January 2009 the company opened the 208–room Residence Inn by Marriott – Desert
View at Mayo Clinic followed three months later by the opening of the 218-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel
in Washington, D.C. In September 2009, Robert Finvarb Companies acquired the former Doubletree Hotel in
Coconut Grove, Florida. This hotel underwent renovations and is now flagged as a Courtyard by Marriott hotel. In
November 2009, the company opened the 198-room Springhill Suites by Marriott in Miami, Florida. In addition to
its involvement with hotel development and asset management for its portfolio of eight hotels containing over 1400
rooms, the Company is also currently involved with the entitlement and development of approximately 20 acres of
land in the gaming corridor of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Juan J. Gallardo III
Director, Corporate Solutions, Latin America

Mr. Gallardo is a Corporate Solutions Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. Based
in Miami, Florida, he is responsible for new business development and client management,
coordinating commercial real estate services for multinational corporations in the region,
including strategic advisory services, portfolio management, consulting, valuation, transaction
management and financial real estate services. Mr. Gallardo has vast experience working with
clients such as Procter & Gamble, Ford, General Motors, AT&T, Disney, American Express,
Honeywell, Xerox, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and REGUS, among others. With over 23 years of experience as a real
estate professional, Mr. Gallardo has been involved in the development of the business line known as the Corporate
Solutions across Latin America and the Caribbean. Important transactions include: portfolio management for
Disney Imagineering across Latin America; disposition of facility in Peru for Kodak; Sale of 350 acres in Playa del
Carmen on behalf of GEO; lease of 350,000 sq. ft. of office space in Costa Rica on behalf of Procter & Gamble;
acquisition of 1,000 acres in Campeche on behalf of Nitrogeno de Cantarell; lease of 550,000 sq. ft. of warehouse
space on behalf of Procter & Gamble; acquisition of 35,000 sq. ft. of office space for American Express in Mexico
City; and tenant representation for Honeywell in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. Mr. Gallardo has participated as
a speaker in several International Real Estate Conferences in the Americas and Europe and published numerous
articles in international real estate magazines and web sites. Mr. Gallardo has travelled extensively on real estate
related businesses, including visits to France, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia,
Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and over 20 cities in the US and Canada, having completed deals in most
of the Americas. Mr. Gallardo received a law degree and pursued post-graduate studies in the Legal Regime of
International Businesses at Escuela Libre de Derecho, the most prestigious Law School in Latin America. Leslie D. Hale
Chief Financial Officer & Senior Vice President

Leslie Hale is a seasoned real estate investment and finance executive, whose career spans
nearly 20 years and involves more than $20B in transactions. Ms. Hale has served as Chief
Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Real Estate for RLJ Development, LLC
(RLJ), since 2007. RLJ is a privately-held real estate investment firm with nearly $2B of
institutional capital under management. Ms. Hale is responsible for all financial matters across
RLJ, including its two affiliated funds. As CFO, she is intricately involved in the company’s
investment decision-making, daily operations and long-term strategic planning. In addition
to her CFO responsibilities, Ms. Hale oversees the execution of all asset and corporate level transactions. She
joined RLJ in 2005, as its Director of Real Estate and Finance, with responsibility for obtaining financing for all
assets and managing the execution process for each financing and real estate transaction. Ms. Hale was promoted
to Vice-President in 2006 and her responsibilities were expanded to include all treasury functions. In this role, she
successfully created and oversaw the portfolio management arm of RLJ. Prior to her tenure at RLJ, she held several
positions within General Electric Capital Corp. (GE), including as a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions
Group of GE Commercial Finance, and as an Associate Director in the GE Real Estate – Strategic Capital Group.
Before GE, Ms. Hale was an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co., advising clients across industries on
mergers, acquisitions, and corporate finance matters. Prior to attending business school, Ms. Hale worked for GE
Real Estate in both the Large Transactions Group and the European Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Ms. Hale
earned a BBA degree with a concentration in Finance from Howard University, graduating summa cum laude. Ms.
Hale earned her MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Goldman Sachs and Robert F. Toigo Fellow.
Ms. Hale sits on the board of several charities.
Joseph J. Haslip
Former Assistant Comptroller for Pensions &
Former Trustee to the New York City Retirement Systems
Joseph J. Haslip formerly served as Assistant Comptroller for Pensions for the New York
City Comptroller, The Honorable William C. Thompson, Jr., and served as the Comptroller’s
designated trustee representative to four of the city’s five pension boards. The New York
City Retirement Systems is composed of five pension funds: The New York City Employees’
Retirement System; The Teachers Retirement System of the City of New York; The New York
City Police Pension Fund; The New York City Fire Department Pension Fund, as well as The New York City Board
of Education Retirement System. At their high point in market value, the system collectively stood at $114B. Mr.
Haslip also sat for the Comptroller on the $7B New York City Deferred Compensation Board. At the request of
Comptroller Thompson, Mr. Haslip was charged with working with the Bureau of Asset Management in developing
a strategy to increase the plan’s exposure to smaller/ minority and women investment managers. As a result of Mr.
Haslip’s efforts coupled with the Bureau and the Board of Trustees’, NYC increased its commitment from $1.5B to
close to $7B. In private equity alone, within the City’s $5B program, the trustees adopted a fund of fund program,
which committed $625M to emerging managers. This coupled with aggressive effort to commit to funds directly
lead to over $1.5B committed to smaller investment managers. In real estate, the systems approved a $250M
Fund of Fund Emerging Manager program. In addition, the plan engaged several minority and woman / emerging
mangers directly as well. In prior years, Mr. Haslip was asked to serve on The Dow Jones Wilshire National
Pension Task Force. He also served as Co-Chairperson of The Destination Africa Investor Conference. This event
held in Dakar, Senegal attracted representatives from 15 African nations, with the goal of showing leaders the value
of diversification within their pension of social security type schemes. Mr. Haslip is a recent inductee into The
National Association of Securities Professionals Hall of Fame. Prior to working with Comptroller Thompson, he
served as Chief of Staff and Director of Policy and Legislation to the then State Senator and current Governor of the
State of New York, the Honorable David A. Paterson. In his home city of New York, Mr. Haslip has been extremely
active in the area of community development serving as a board member of The Upper Manhattan Empowerment
Zone, and the Harlem Community Development Corporation. Since leaving the Comptroller’s office, he is working
as a consultant assisting asset management firms to build and strengthen the capabilities to be competitive in an
ever-changing asset management universe.
Andrew Ingraham
President & Chief Executive Officer
National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers, Inc.
Andrew “Andy” Ingraham serves as President/CEO of the National Association of Black Hotel
Owners, Operators & Developers, Inc. (NABHOOD), of which he was one of the founders
in 1999. NABHOOD was formed to increase the number of African-Americans developing,
managing, operating and owning hotels, increase vendor opportunities and executive level
positions for minorities, thereby creating wealth within the African-American community. A few of the conferences Mr. Ingraham has spoken or participated as a panelist were the
American Hotel & Motel Association, ALIS, Congressional Black Caucus, The Lodging
Conference, Hotel Investment Conference, National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners, Governor’s Conference of
Florida, Caribbean Ministers Conference and National Association of Black McDonald’s Owners Association. With
over 22 years in the tourism industry, Mr. Ingraham has developed expertise in marketing and public relations with
special emphasis on African-American and multicultural tourism. Because of his knowledge and expertise, he is a
constant source for articles and has been featured or quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, National
Public Radio, Hotel Business, Black Enterprise Magazine, Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine and a host of other
publications. Larry E. Jennings, Jr.
Senior Managing Director, ValStone Partners &
Board Trustee, Carnegie Mellon University & State Retirement
and Pension System of Maryland
Larry E. Jennings, Jr., Senior Managing Director and one of the founders of ValStone Partners,
was formerly a principal of Carnegie Morgan Partners (“CMP”), a financial advisory firm to
state and local governments. Prior to forming CMP in 1994, Mr. Jennings spent over seven
years as an investment banker at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. During his tenure at Legg Mason, Mr. Jennings
rose to the level of Managing Director and sat on the committee that directed all municipal investment banking
activities of the firm. Mr. Jennings’ investment banking experience includes real estate workouts, restructuring
distressed municipal credits, sale/leaseback of public real estate assets, and negotiating energy contracts on behalf
of public and private entities. In prior years, Mr. Jennings also worked as a Senior Financial Analyst with Maryland
National Bank. Mr. Jennings received a BS in Mathematics and Economics and an MS in Industrial Administration
(MBA) from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration (now the Tepper School of Business) at Carnegie
Mellon University, where he concentrated in Finance and Strategy. Mr. Jennings is a member of the Board of
Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University and sits on the Investment and Library Committees, and has co-chaired
the Math Curriculum Advisory Board. Mr. Jennings is Chairman and a member of the Investment Committee of
Morgan State University Foundation; Public Advisor, Investment Committee member of the State Retirement and
Pension System of Maryland; former Chairman of the Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore; current Chairman of the
National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship of Baltimore; and a member of the Board of Directors of the
Profit Value Funds, a mutual fund.
R. David Kelly
Chairman
Teacher Retirement System of Texas
Mr. Kelly is an investment professional with more than 27 years experience in the real estate
and investment banking industries. His employment history includes Goldman Sachs, Citicorp
and The Trammell Crow Company. Mr. Kelly has worked on large capitalization mergers and
acquisitions, general corporate finance, and principal investments. He has extensive real estate
development and investment experience. For the past 15 years, he has been the development
and financial advisory partner of Carleton Residential Properties, one of the United States’ premier residential
real estate firms. During this time, the firm has built over 12,000 units of housing and its clients have received
six development contracts from the United States government totaling over $400M. Since 2007, Mr. Kelly has
served as a trustee of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), with over 1.2 million members and over
$97B in assets, TRS is the 17th largest pension plan in the world. The plan is a global investor with a modified
endowment investment strategy. TRS makes investments in publicly traded securities, private equity, real estate,
hedge funds, infrastructure and commodities. Mr. Kelly has been Chairman of the system since November 2009. From 2001-2007, Mr. Kelly served as Chairman of the Texas Public Finance Authority (TPFA), one of the State of
Texas’ primary debt issuers. During his tenure, TPFA issued over $4B of securities through secured and unsecured
financings on behalf of the various agencies and departments of the state. Mr. Kelly is a graduate of Harvard
University (John Harvard Scholar, Economics) and completed a MBA at Stanford University Graduate School of
Business Administration.
Thomas P. Kennedy

Thomas P. Kennedy is the CFO and COO of UrbanAmerica Advisors. In his previous CFO
and COO role at UrbanAmerica, he leveraged his 25 years of in-depth experience to manage
large diversified real estate portfolios with complicated ownership structures. As the principal
managing director for Equitable Real Estate Management, Inc. (and its successor Lend Lease),
the country’s largest pension advisor with more than $40B in assets under management, Mr.
Kennedy managed $5B in equities and $5B in mortgages. During his 21-year tenure there,
he was a member of both the Investment Committee and the Executive Committee utilizing
his expertise across all asset classes to advise the direction and activities of an equity portfolio consisting of hotels,
office, industrial, retail, land, and residential. After his time at Equitable, Mr. Kennedy managed the U.S. interests
of the Rubicon American Trust, a publicly traded REIT on the Australian Exchange with all investments located in
the United States, and directed acquisitions, portfolio management, asset management, and financial reporting. Mr.
Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College.
Maria A. Kong
Chief Executive Officer

Maria Kong has been a dynamic and innovative force in the real estate industry for over 29
years and serves as a senior associate with Barrington Consultants, Inc. Although based in the
active South Florida marketplace, Ms. Kong serves an enviable client base located throughout
the country and internationally including entertainers, sports figures, politicians, corporate
leaders, investor groups and others seeking a knowledgeable professional. In 1991, she formed Markon Realty &
Management, Inc. that now, is a recognized company in the real estate industry with Ms. Kong being approved as a
Resolution Trust Broker as well as a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac REO Broker. Prior to establishing the company,
she spent 10 years with InveRealty, Inc. serving as broker and subsequently, the company’s president of the one of
the largest real estate office in South Florida. Maria Kong recently relinquished the position of President/CEO of the
National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), the nation’s oldest minority trade organization. She is the
second female president in NAREB’s 62 year history, the first Floridian and person of Caribbean descent to hold this
position. She also served on the Asian Real Estate Association of America Advisory Board, the National Association
of Realtors Board of Directors, Chase Manhattan Mortgage Housing Advisory Board, the South Florida Board of
Realtists board of directors. Ms. Kong is President of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers Foundation,
Director of the South Florida Board of Realtists Foundation, and is currently President of Housing Foundation of
America. She has been featured in many U.S. and Caribbean newspapers and magazines including Black Enterprise,
the News and Sun-Sentinel, as well as Black Diaspora Magazine. She was inducted in Princeton Premier as one of
the top CEO’s in the Country. Born and raised in Jamaica, Ms. Kong earned a Bachelor of Arts and MBA degrees
from American Intercontinental University and a Doctorate Degree from Dartley University.
Jack Lowell

Mr. Lowell joined Flagler Real Estate Services, Inc. 14 years ago. As Vice President, Mr.
Lowell currently handles leasing and sales of office buildings throughout Miami-Dade County. Currently he is directly responsible for leasing Met 2 Financial Center, a 47-story, 750 square
foot office tower scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2010, Mellon Financial
Center, a 30-story, 522,000 square foot building on Brickell Avenue and the new Bacardi
Building, a 15-story, 275,000 square foot office building in Coral Gables. Mr. Lowell’s
remarkable real estate career spans nearly four decades. Prior to Flagler Real Estate Services, Mr. Lowell was the
owner and Chief Executive of Summa Properties, a commercial real estate brokerage, leasing and management
firm. From 1983 to 1991, as the partner in charge of Tishman Speyer Properties’ Miami office, Mr. Lowell was
responsible for the development of the Brickell Square project, Westside Corporate Center and the Federal Law
Enforcement Building, and leasing and management of Airport Corporate Center, the SunTrust Building, One
Brickell Square and Westland Executive Center. In the years preceding Tishman, Mr. Lowell worked as a Vice
President for CB Richard Ellis, supervising more than 30 brokers and support staff, and served as General Manager
of the Grove Isle development.
Chauncey C. Mayfield

As MayfieldGentry’s founder and creator, Mr. Mayfield is an innate entrepreneur, well-prepared
for the real estate investment arena from his previous entrepreneurial, public and private sector
experiences. His expertise in value-added real estate investment reflects nearly 30 years of
residential, office and industrial development, construction and management experience.
Under Mr. Mayfield’s visionary leadership, MayfieldGentry has achieved an outstanding track
record with public pension funds and plan sponsors, resulting in phenomenal growth of its portfolio of assets under
management in both urban and suburban markets. Mr. Mayfield brings to task his experience as former President
and CEO of ShoreBank Development, Detroit, an affiliate of ShoreBank Corporation of Chicago. As President, he
successfully competed in domestic and international expansion markets, attracted institutional capital, spearheaded
the establishment of a real estate development firm and created large-scale residential and commercial rehabilitation
and development, ultimately delivering a 44% return on investment. His distinguished career also includes having previously served as Deputy Director of Economic Development for the City of Boston’s Economic Development
and Industrial Corporation, where he directed management and development of the agency’s three industrial parks,

Amachie K. Ackah, Managing Partner, Argosy Real Estate Partners has oversight
responsibilities for all investment, strategic, and operational activities of the firm. He is also
co-head of the Investment Committee. Mr. Ackah has over 14 years of real estate industry
experience as a professional in both real estate investment funds and development companies. He was previously the Founder and Managing Partner of Cedar Hill Real Estate Partners where
he had similar responsibilities. Cedar Hill Real Estate Partners was a privately-held commercial
real estate investment management firm headquartered in New York, NY. The firm’s investment
strategy focused on creating real value at the asset level through redevelopment, development or
repositioning, resulting in high margins, low cost-bases and multiple exit strategies throughout
the lifecycle of each investment. It primarily invested in joint ventures with local operating
partners in high-barrier-to-entry markets throughout the United States. Cedar Hill Real
Estate Fund is comprised of assets with estimated pro-rata costs of investments in excess of
$200M. Prior to founding Cedar Hill, Mr. Ackah was a Principal responsible for acquisitions
and asset management at Lubert-Adler Real Estate LP, a real estate opportunity fund located

Kenneth A. McIntyre Jr., Managing Director of MetLife is the Head of Real Estate Strategic

James H. Simmons III, Partner of AREA Property Partners, formerly known as Apollo
Real Estate Advisors and Managing Director of the $485M Apollo Domestic Emerging
Markets (“ADEM”) Fund. Mr. Simmons has been closely associated with AREA’s push
towards investing in residential and commercial assets located in Domestic Emerging Markets
