We are equally dedicated to promoting the Gypsy Horse breed and strongly support functions and events with this intent. We also support the work of certified groups who use Gypsy Horses for therapeutic purposes for people with disabilities. We welcome all Gypsy Horse enthusiasts of any State and Canada to participate in our annual show, and are open to full bred Gypsy Horses registered with any of the four United States Gypsy Horse registries and cross-bred Gypsy horses registered with the GHA and GHRA (50% Gypsy). The Breed: The Gypsy Horse originates from the UK and Ireland. The Gypsy horse has many draft characteristics, including powerful bodies, heavy bone, with an abundant mane and tail and feathering on the lower legs. They possess an incredibly gentle and willing temperament and come in a variety of colors, but traditionally are of piebald coloring. The Gypsy Horse is descended from a combination of Shires, Clydesdales, Friesians, Fell and Dales Ponies with their origins in the Romani gypsy community of the UK and Ireland. These horses were originally bred by the Romany people to pull wagons or "caravans" known as Vardos. Today, the Gypsy Horse is excelling in nearly all riding disciplines and driving.
