Please check our club calendar for all the upcoming shows. I hear a very good one is coming to our area, have you registered, volunteered, asked a business for a sponsorship? Do we have enough, nope, never can have too many. Friends time will get away from us before you know it. This Saturday we have two shows that we can attend and pass our fliers around. Matt will lead a group to Lexington, and drop a note to the club on meeting up and time. I will be going to Macon for the Cherry Blossom Festival, we will meet at the rest area just west of the Harlem exit. Please be there by 7:15 am, plan to pull out by 7:30 am. Drop me a note if you would like to make the trip. We don’t want to leave anyone behind. Does anyone in the club use Amsoil products? Many of us use local merchants for oil changes. Some places allow you to bring your own oil and pay a labor & and a disposal charge. Our club has a opportunity to become an Amsoil dealer and purchase their products at dealer cost. To become a dealer it would cost the club a $30.00 yearly fee. We can discuss this venture at our next meeting, if you can’t make the meeting, please drop me a note. Our April meeting will be March 31st, the last Tuesday of the month. The first Tuesday of April would be the week of Masters. Pizza Central has worked out very nicely with the private dinning room. Also they have donated $500.00 to our show. Lynda & I go there at least once during the week, please try them out yourselves and let them how we appreciate there help. How many of you have checked out Jeff Allen on You Tube? I promise you will be laughing out loud,we hope to have a full house, please tell your friends tickets are available. See ya soon! Don B. "The Road Goes on Forever and the Mustang Party Never Ends" PAGE 2 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 From the Editor Zafera Aaron April is around the corner and Masters will be here soon! I’m glad Spring is here, it’s time for more car shows and drives. Of course with April here, that means our National show is also around the corner! I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but I think with all of the club’s help, it’ll be a success. Please remember to check the Facebook page, csramc.org and this newsletter for updates about our monthly meetings. We’ve had some people say they didn’t know about the day of the week change. I think Tuesday is working out for our club members and for Pizza Central. As it says in this newsletter, the April meeting will be March 31 since Masters week is in town the next week and lots of people are busy and out of town. My birthday is March 31 (I’m turning 29 again) and I look forward to spending it with my Mustang family! See you at the meeting! Take care, Zafera Aaron Secretary/Editor [email protected] PAGE 3 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 Pets and Stangs This cutie is owned by Jeff and Amanda Yandell, posing in her new 2015 Mustang. PAGE 4 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 Ford News & Notes 2015 F-35 Lightning II Edition Ford Mustang is First to be Modified and Auctioned With the 2015 Mustang officially available to the general public, it was only a matter of time before we came across news of the first S550 to be modified. This 2015 Mustang GT Premium was chosen by Ford Motor Company to be handed over to Chris Mangum and MAD Industries in Costa Mesa, California, to create a one-off “2015 F-35 Lightning II Edition Ford Mustang” that would be auctioned off for charity. The plan was to model the 2015 F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang after the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aircraft, the world’s most advanced multirole fighter jet, which provides unmatched capabilities to the United States and allied military forces. The project was led by the engineering and design teams at Ford after the donation, and the car was then auctioned at the Gathering of the Eagles charity event on July 31, 2014, during the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh 2014—an event known as the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration. Ford is the exclusive automotive sponsor of the event, which ran from July 28 through August 3 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. “The idea to model one of our specialty builds after the F-35 was four years in the making, under discussion even as we created the SR-71 Blackbird Mustang for auction in 2010,” explains Edsel B. Ford, a member of Ford’s board of directors. “Just as the F35 was designed with unprecedented capabilities and versatility in mind, we felt it would be a natural fit to pair with the all-new 2015 Mustang. Visitors to the Ford Hangar are sure to be wowed by both the beauty of the F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang and the opportunity to get the fighter jet experience firsthand.” At the auction, the car was one of the first 2015 Ford Mustangs to be sold. It rolled across the block for nearly $200,000, benefitting the EAA Young Eagles, a program that has provided free introductory flights to over 1.8 million young people since it started in 1992. The goal of the program is to inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators, and innovators. It’s really all about the details with this one-off Mustang. Wrapped in a cool BASF Glasurit line custom tri-coat Titanium high-gloss Charcoal color (with low-sheen Charcoal center stripe), the Mustang’s design pays tribute to its fighter jet brethren while being sure to highlight and outline the new features of the 2015’s body. The distinctive accents seen throughout the car were inspired by the blue and yellow lightning tail livery noticeable on early production examples of the F-35 aircraft. The car was painted by LGE-CTS Motorsports of San Dimas, California. PAGE 5 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 FORD News & Notes If you look closely, you’ll notice that the windows of the Mustang appear to have a gold tint. No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. The bubble canopy of the F-35 features a distinctive gold tint that helps minimize its radar signature, which was of course replicated on the Mustang using Madico Specialty window film. The original Mustang GT performance pack springs were pulled and replaced with the Eibach Pro-Kit springs performance package, which lowered the Mustang 1.1 inches in the front and 1.0 inch in the rear. The Eibach Anti-Roll Kit helps to reduce body roll for increased handling and corning grip. The Mustang roars to life through an exhaust with a stainless Gibson X-pipe featuring larger black ceramic-coated dual tips. The capable standard six-speed manual transmission handles shifting duties. When it comes to wheels, these guys weren’t messing around. Wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber are Forgiatocreated custom 21-inch three-piece wheels (21x9 front, 21x10 rear), finished to match the paint scheme. Rigid Industries LED lightning was used for the underglow, with a total of eight A-Series lights, six in-car dome lights, and a Legacy E-Series LED lighting of the front grille. All of the lighting is controlled by sPOD through Bluetooth cellphone connectivity. An aggressive carbon fiber front splitter, a rear diffuser, rocker moldings, unique mirror skullcaps, hood vents, and a vertically enhanced one-of-a-kind pedestal rear spoiler complete the fierce build. MAD Industries collaborated with Ford Trim Shop to create the custom interior, which features Recaro seats and custom steering wheel, door panels, center console, and shift and parking break boots. A modified instrument cluster, a custom Focal audio system, custom floor mats proudly bearing F-35 Lightning II elements, and unique sill plates also reside within. The modification of this 2015 Mustang GT definitely sets the bar high. We can’t wait to check out the radical builds that will undoubtedly use the S550 as a platform. http:// www.mustangandfords.co m/featured-vehicles/ 1505-2015-f-35lightning-ii-edition-fordmustang/ PAGE 6 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 From the “There Ought to be a Law” Dept.: -Photos submitted by Zane Anchor and from www.instagram.com/riced_stangs PAGE 7 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 Join the MCA today! www.mustang.org CSRA MUSTANG CLUB'S FORD DEALERSHIP SPONSOR PAGE 8 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 New Members Larry Hodges Lives in Louisville, GA Drives a 1965 289 Coupe Welcome to the Club! PAGE 9 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 YUK, YUK!!!! At a hotel restaurant, a man sees an attractive woman sitting alone at the next table. Suddenly, she sneezes, and a glass eye comes flying out of her eye socket. It hurls by the man, and he snatches it from the air and hands it back to her. "This is so embarrassing," the woman says, and she pops her eye back in place. "I'm sorry to have disturbed you. Let me buy dinner to make it up to you. May I join you?" He nods. The woman is a stimulating conversationalist, stunningly pretty, and the man finds they have a lot in common. He gets her phone number and asks, "You are the most charming woman I've ever encountered. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?” "No," she replies. "You just happened to catch my eye." A customer was bothering the waiter in a restaurant. First, he asked that the air conditioning be turned up because he was too hot, then he asked it be turned down cause he was too cold, and so on for about half an hour. Surprisingly, the waiter was very patient, he walked back and forth and never once got angry. So finally, a second customer asked him why he didn't throw out the pest. "Oh, I really don't care or mind," said the waiter with a smile. "We don't even have an air conditioner!” A young couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the husband sarcastically asked, "Are they relatives of yours?" "Yes," his wife replied, "I married into the family.” PAGE 10 CSRA MUSTANG CLUB APRIL, 2015 UPCOMING EVENTS March 28, 2015 19th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Mustang & All Ford Show Central City Park - Near Drew’s Rides on Levee side of the park.
