The center offers access to listening and spoken language services as early as possible in a child’s development. The center also provides a unique opportunity for future speech-language pathologists to gain valuable experience in working with diverse children with hearing loss and their families under the supervision and guidance of licensed, certified and experienced faculty educators. Strong partnerships with other providers, such as Early Steps, The Bolesta Center at USF, schools and health care facilities, are integral to the clinic’s long-term sustainability and success. OUR MISSION IS • to prepare students to apply current evidenced-based practice in their work with children and families served by the center. • to increase access to listening and spoken language (LSL) services for children ages 0-3 in Central Florida. • to strengthen the network of services available to families, helping to ensure that they are able to receive the intervention and support needed during this critical stage of development. THE UCF LISTENING CENTER is part of the Communication Disorders Clinic within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida. The faculty and staff of the department are dedicated to empowering students to achieve their greatest potential as clinicians, scientists, scholars and professionals. By providing the foundations of our discipline and through the use of innovative technology, we enable our graduates to be leaders who positively impact individuals and their communities The Communication Disorders Clinic is a premiere institution providing cutting-edge diagnostics and services to people with communication and hearing challenges. Clients range from infants to seniors, and from those learning to communicate for the first time to those challenged by a loss of communication from disease. SERVICES INCLUDE • Audiological evaluations and dispensing of hearing aids • Speech and language evaluations • Speech and language therapy services tailored to each family and child’s needs • Therapy conducted with individual and small group instruction • Home and center-based services • Family centered services • Consultation with schools and professionals as needed A sliding fee scale is available for eligible families.
