InService™ – voices from
around the world
Farm: Jyland, Denmark
Name: Erik Jørgensen
“Animal welfare is what matters most to me and I was
concerned that milking robots would cause the cows undue
stress. I visited other farms and saw that the animals did
not suffer with DeLaval VMS®, in fact it was the other way
around,” says Erik Jørgensen.
Just a phone call away
It's clear that Erik cares for his animals. That's why well
functioning VMS® robots are of the utmost importance: a
halt in production is painful for cows that are not milked
when they need to be.
To avoid a breakdown, the farm has its own energy supply.
But if something should happen service technicians are
just a phone call away. The long-term commitment from
DeLaval was important to Erik when deciding to invest in
the automated system: “It’s a great comfort to have the
DeLaval VMS® service team – I can call them 24/7 and their
technicians impress me with their knowledge of the VMS®
robot”.
“Sometimes they don’t even have to come out to the farm,
but can guide me step by step over the phone. If I have
an issue with my computer software they can access it
remotely and I just sit back and watch them solve my
problem,” says Erik.
“It’s a great comfort to
have the DeLaval VMS®
service team – I can
call them 24/7 and their
technicians impress me
with their knowledge of
the VMS® robot.”

Service that’s tailored to your needs
– InService™
Every farm is different – no one knows
your farm like you do. That’s why
InService™ is flexible: so it can be
customized to the needs of your farm
and the way you run it.
InServiceTM technicians help increase the profitability
of your farm.
Minimize downtime: DeLaval technicians have direct
access to more than 30,000 different parts.
Trained and certified, DeLaval technicians help with
both technical matters and everyday production issues.
The InServiceTM checklist includes:
Optimize yield and cow comfort
The vacuum regulator is key to a well-functioning milking system.
If the vacuum level is too high, you endanger udder health. If too low,
milking time will increase and yield will decrease.
What needs checking?
Inside any piece of machinery, there are
parts that are subject to wear and tear.
When it comes to the regulator, dust
and dirt from the dairy can build up on
its filters. With time, this can restrict air
flow making it harder for the regulator to
respond to changes in the vacuum level.
This can result in unwanted swings in
vacuum at the teat end.
How can this impact udder health
and yield?
An incorrect vacuum endangers the
health of your cows and reduces yield.
The regulator, as the name suggests, is
designed to regulate the vacuum within
a narrow band. At this level, you achieve
the optimum balance between fast milk
extraction and physical well-being.
However, if the vacuum is too low, you
risk liner slip and lower yields; and an
over-vacuum can lead to mastitis.
Save up to 5 euros for every 1 euro
you spend on service
The regulator is just one example of
how preventive maintenance can affect
the profitability of your farm. We could
continue to talk about the elasticity of
pulsator diaphragms, or the importance
of minimizing bacteria and effective
cleaning.
But don’t just take our word for it.
Time and again, researchers find that
investing in maintenance pays off.
Across a range of different industries,
the statistics point in the same
direction: for every one euro spent on
service, you can save up to five euros
in subsequent costs.
What is included in InService™
Preventive Maintenance?
Your technician – trained and certified
by DeLaval – will work through a
checklist of service points, inspecting
all the components in your milking
system and adjusting or replacing parts
at planned intervals.
InService™ consists of five packages:
• InService™ Milking
• InService™ VMS®
• InService™ Cooling
• InService™ Feeding
• InService™ Manure
Fixed costs for 3 years - InServiceTM
