Nomad 2 data logger
Nomad 2 Data Logger Nexgen is Europe’s leading provider of high quality monitoring equipment. The Nomad 2 data logger can performs accurate measurements of wind speed and direction, air temperature and pressure, and has proven reliability in the most extreme of conditions. The logger stores data on a Windows compatible CF card that can then be read by any computer running Windows. For lengthy measurement campaigns, a large capacity 12V battery and solar panel can be supplied permitting continuous remote operation of the logger and connected sensors. Remote Access The Nomad 2 can deliver the latest 24 hours of recorded data direct to your inbox at a set time every day via the GSM network, using an optional quad-band modem. This facility also allows communication with the data logger from the office, enabling uploading of new configurations, viewing of real time data, downloading of mislaid data etc. Numerous and Flexible Sensor Connections Straight from the box, this logger has 12 pulsing/switching channels, for sensors such as anemometers, rain gauges, energy meters and relays. In addition to these, it has 8 analogue voltage channels suitable for wind vanes, thermistors and transducers to measure air pressure, solar radiation, or humidity. Robust Enclosure The Nomad 2's electronics are contained within an upper compartment rated to IP66, to protect them from the elements. A lower compartment contains screw terminals for sensor connections (power supply plus transient protected signals) and 12V battery plus charge regulator. The enclosure is manufactured from a rugged powder-coated steel enclosure. Power Supply The Nomad 2 can operate using just two 9V (PP3) batteries for an extended period of time or can be fitted with a recharge pack for a more durable solution. The recharge pack includes a rechargeable 12V battery and a 10W solar panel to provide long term continuous power to the logger, sensors and any remote communications packages. User-friendly Desktop Software Configuration of both the data logging and communications is done using dedicated software called Nomad Desktop. A large array of popular sensors are present and configured in the software’s database, the user simply selects the appropriate instruments from drop down menus. Specific calibration factors (slope and offset) can be used in place of default values. Desktop also allows remote access to the data logger, to view live data from your sensors, to download specific data files and alter settings. The recorded data can then be displayed as a time series, wind rose, diurnal or distribution graph. Data can also be exported in CSV format for further processing by specialist software.
