The Vintage Bewick Collection Solo Arte is one of Ireland’s leading Art Galleries located in the South East of Ireland who are committed to providing local access to the best of contemporary Irish and European art. Solo Arte has been described (by Sunday Business Post Journalist Ros Drinkwater (25th September 2005) as being 'ahead of the game' in sourcing good art from all over Europe. A collector who approaches art with the mentality of an investor needs to have the ability to purchase works by artists that already have a solid market value. As professional experts in the Irish art market, we provide that ability to the investor. Solo Arte also provide advice for investors on tax relief on the purchase of art under the Wear and Tear Allowance Section 285 of the 1997 Finance Act. SOLO ARTE - EXHIBITIONS OF NOTE May 2005 Curated the Pauline Bewick ‘Cork Woman’ exhibition in partnership with Mr. Owen O’Callaghan of O’Callahgan Properties which was officially opened by Mr. Dermot Desmond during the Cork City of Culture. November 2006 Solo Arte liaised with WIT on behalf of Pauline Bewick to permanently house Pauline’s Waterford ‘Seven Ages’ Collection, officially opened by the then President Mary McAleese. May 2007 Solo Arte liaised with Kerry Co. Council on behalf of Pauline Bewick to permanently house Pauline’s Kerry ‘Seven Ages’ Collection, officially opened by the then Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism Mr John O’Donoghue TD. 2007 & 2008 Co-curated Pauline Bewick’s ‘Seven Ages Travelling Collection’ in Galway and Belfast. November 2007 Curated Pauline Bewick’s Visual Translation of Brian Merriman’s 18th Century epic poem ‘The Midnight Court’ at The Shelbourne Hotel. April 2008 Curated Pauline Bewick’s Visual Translation of Brian Merriman’s 18th Century epic poem ‘The Midnight Court’ at The Irish Cultural Centre in Paris. October 2011 Curated an exhibition of the International acclaimed figurative artist Arthur Maderson at The Strand Gallery in London. December 2013 Curated the inaugural launch of London Irish Art at Cork Street, Mayfair London which was officially opened by Irish designer and artist Paul Costelloe. January 2015 Curated London Irish Art Exhibition, Westminster, London officially opened by Internationally renowned artist Hughie O’Donoghue. Presenting works by artists J.B. Vallely, Michael Flatley, John Behan. June 2015 Curated Michael Flatley’s first exhibition at 12 Hayhill, Mayfair, London, which was an outstanding success with sales in excess of €1 Million. Renowned International artist Pauline Bewick announced to the Nation on the ‘Late Late Show’ in November 2005 that she would like to gift a proportion of her life works, spanning seven decades, to the Irish State. Pauline Bewick appointed Solo Arte to negotiate the transfer of her artistic works, which culminated in the establishing of three ‘Seven Ages Collections’ known as the Waterford Seven Ages Collection, the Kerry Seven Ages Collection and the Travelling Seven Ages Collection, each consisting of approx. 230 pieces. In November 2006 President Mary McAleese accepted on behalf of the State the Waterford 7 Ages Collection, which is now on permanent exhibit in the Walton Building at Waterford Institute of Technology. In May 2007, the then Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism Mr. John O’Donoghue, on behalf of the State accepted the Kerry 7 Ages Collection, which is now permanently housed in the County Library in Kilorglin, Co. Kerry. The Vintage Bewick Collection was gifted to Solo Arte by Pauline Bewick in appreciation of their diligent professionalism in sourcing both of these outstanding permanent locations.
