HHNFT Newsletter - Human Help Network Foundation Thailand
HHNFT Newsletter Dear friends and benefactors, Another year has passed by quickly. The last months in 2014 have been very busy, so we would like to share some of our recent news and greatest events. The "Love and Care" Charity Concert This year the Pattaya Orphanage commemorates its 40th anniversary. Therefore, we planned and organized a special charity concert to celebrate this joyful occasion. A generous supporter of the Pattaya Orphanage decided to do us a big favour - Khun Suttikorn Jearpaitoon, Managing Director of Thai Alangkarn Theater Pattaya, offered us to use his stage with full facilities. In addition, we were more than lucky having the very popular Thai singers Joe und Kong Nuvo to perform at the very minimum cost to give our children a great pleasure. So after the location and the main act has already been chosen, the children from the Pattaya Orphanage could start practising for their big performance while the HHNFT staff took care of selling tickets for the show. Since we did not have to pay for the stage and were minimall charged by the famous musical actors, more than 90 percent of the proceeds could go to the children‘s "Education Fund". So with all the guests joining our concert nearly 2 million baht were collected. In the end, it was a stunning show which our children from the Pattaya Orphanage, the Sotpanna School for the Deaf and the CDPC could enjoy together with many guests in a cheerful atmosphere. The children joined Joe and Kong Nuvo for the last song. A friend returned We would like to kindly introduce our new Project Manager of our Drop-In Center. Khun Noi (Piroon Noi-Imjai) grew up in the Pattaya Orphanage and left it for the time he was studying Social Work at the Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Bangkok. After his graduation he had been working with a charity organization, Starfish Foundation, in Bangkok for five years. We missed our friend in Pattaya and are now truly proud of him coming back to work as Project Manager at HHN Drop-In Center. We are very happy that he decided to come back to Pattaya to join our HHNFT-Team. He has been with us over a month and especially enjoys working with our Mobile Training Unit driving to slums area and local community to help educating children from drugs & crime, exploitation, human trafficking and also entertain them. Khun Noi is the new Project Manager at the Drop-In Center. Christmas Party The Pattaya Orphanage, once again, invited children from CPDC to join their lovely Christmas Party. A big stage and many tables and chairs had been set up outside so that we all could celebrate together in the open air. The football field was transformed into venue of the event. The Pattaya Orphanage‘s Choir started the celebration by singing Christmas Carols like ‚Jingle Bells‘ and ‚Joy to the World‘. Our guests enjoyed chatting with friends, watching the shows on stage while choosing their meal at lavish buffet including fresh local fruits, Pad Thai, Noodle Soup, Sticky Rice, Fish Balls, French Fries and Coconut Cake, etc. It would not have been a Christmas Party without handing out of presents to each child. So each of the children was called to receive their Christmas presents on stage and some of the guests were lucky enough to win special presents through the Lucky Drawings. Our children from CPDC were overjoyed when one child won one of the biggest prices, a flat screen 32” television. Other guests did not wanted to wait for the luck to get to them, so they took their luck into their hands by playing a more active role through bidding. January 2015 My role as a teacher motivates me to study more so that in the end I can be a good teacher to the others. It makes me happy that I have an aim to work for now. My marks are getting better and I will keep passing on my knowledge to the others. Thank you CPDC for being like a big family by making me feel loved and supported.” Plans for the New Year The Pattaya Orphanage celebrated Christmas with a big party on 25th December. Articles in high demand were room, breakfast and dinner vouchers which were donated by hotels like the Royal Cliff Hotel and the Hilton Hotel, but also for example a hand-made tapestries and wood carved figures. Despite the competitive battle, all the bidder had a lot of fun, cheering each other, thus creating a joyful atmosphere. Besides, with this auction over 170,000 baht could be raised, thus donated to the Pattaya Orphanage. To sum it up, we all had a wonderful time together. Tee “I am learning agriculture. It’s the third year in which I am studying about how to grow plants. Before I came to CPDC I did not know what to do with my knowledge of agriculture. But then my teachers and friends at CPDC encouraged me to participate in CPDC’s farming project. Doing so made me realize how important it is to have someone with good knowledge of agricultural science. I started to teach the others at CPDC about planting and growing plants. We seek your help in the purchase of some nearby agricultural land to help further the work of the CPDC. Our requirement for more land has come about because while we can accommodate the needs of our current 65 children, 20 teachers and staff, we expect this number to continue increasing and our existing agriculture holding will not be able to accommodate our projected food and farming needs in the future. To give you some background: we were recently approached by the owner of the adjacent land to purchase a plot of 4,000 square metres at the cost of 5 million baht (1,250Bht a square metre). This would be an excellent purchase for us as it would suit the long term requirements of the CPDC; so we are attempting to raise the funds to secure this land while it is on offer. We are seeking donations starting from 1,250 Baht per square metre, however no amount is too small and we welcome any support you could give us. With the help of our benefactors our goal is to meet the total cost of five million baht within the next 12 months. We have set out the full details of this intended purchase and our goal. You can rest assured that we intend to run this project with full accounting and auditing processes in place and you would be kept fully abreast of how your donation is being utilized throughout the life of the project. I send you my heartfelt gratitude for considering this vital piece of work and May God bless you always So as another year has passed by already, we would like to thank you once again for your interest and your most appreciated support through 2014. Lastly, let me end with the words: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2015.
