A Fine Day Begorrah!
St. Patrick’s Day Parade Contributions
The organisers and sponsors of the recent Saint Patrick’s Day
parade through the streets of Pattaya met up at City Hall last
weekend to discuss about the great success of the annual big
event. Attending were Mr. Rattanachai Sutthidechanai, Chairman
of Pattaya Tourism and Culture Commission, along with Mr. Pawin
Pettrakul, PR Manager of Alcazar Show, Father Picharn Jaiseree,
Chairman of Pattaya Redemptorist Center for People with
Disabilities and Mr. Niels Colov CEO of Pattaya People Media Group,
Earth Hour
Earth Hour at Hilton Pattaya
It seems that every day of the year is
used to celebrate some movement or
other, some downright crazy and some
held for people to do their bit for
conservation and helping the
environment. One such movement is
Earth Hour, organised by the World
Wide Fund for Nature, which this year
was held worldwide at 8.30pm on
which is a media sponsor of the parade. It was then time to hand
certificates of appreciation to all concerned in organising the
parade. Then the main activity of the meeting got underway,
which was to hand over a cheque for 800,000 baht collected from
proceeds and donations on St. Patrick’s Day, (17th March) to Fr.
Michael Picharn Jaiseree, who is also Vice President of the Father
Ray Foundation. The parade is organised every year by the Irish
community living in Pattaya. It began life after Irish entrepreneur
and Pattaya resident, Mr. Derrick Kane approached City Hall to
Saturday, 29th March. Millions of
people around the world switched
off lights for 1 hour to celebrate
their commitment to the planet.
In Pattaya, the activity was held
at the Hilton Hotel Pattaya on
Friday with a race around 34 floors
of the hotel with staff members
using the stairways instead of
elevators. Then on Saturday
evening the hotel turned off lights
to raise awareness of Earth Hour.
put on the very first Parade back in 2011. City Hall and the Father
Ray Foundation got involved, and the rest is history, as St. Patrick’s
Day Parade is now deemed an important event on the Pattaya
calendar. This was the fourth time that the parade has been held
in Pattaya, and this year it began on Second Road outside Alcazar
Cabaret Theatre, making its way down Beach Road and ending at
School Number 8 on South Pattaya Road for an afternoon of Irish
entertainment.

FLAMES GRILL
It was off for a culinary adventure on Monday evening to visit Pattaya’s very first themed beach
resort, the beautiful luxurious Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort on Wong Amat Beach in North
Pattaya. Our mission was to
get involved in their Cowboy
(and Indian) Night Buffet
promotion being held only on
Mondays at Flames Grill, one
of the resort’s signature
restaurants. The beachfront
Flames restaurant was recently
converted into a very
distinctive open plan ultra
modern Thai style venue, with
great views over the bay,
serving ala carte menu and
special themed promotions
throughout the week. On this
occasion, the sunset was truly
breathtaking as we began to
enjoy an evening of Wild West
fun beginning at 7pm with the
resident Pulnose Coustic band
playing and singing Country
and Western music, with staff
all dressed up in colourful
Cowboy and Indian costumes
(who also give a very
entertaining lively dance
routine during the evening).
This was indeed a superb Buffet
spread, including traditional
dishes associated with Tex-Mex
cooking from the USA. All the
tempting dishes presented for
the Cowboy Night Buffet use
top quality ingredients and are
served absolutely fresh. As you walk around the stations, take in the amazing aromas as cuts of
top quality meats and seafood are BBQ cooked to order in the centre of the restaurant. Start with
the splendid assortment of Salads and homemade Soups – which tonight was Beef Soup and Corn
and Jalapeno Soup. The latter one tried from recommendation by the chef, and what is usually a
bland tasting yet filling Corn Soup had been transformed into a wow taste sensation with a wicked
kick from the Jalapeno Peppers. From there no time was lost in trying out some of the other
offerings, such as extremely tasty BBQ Smoked Prime Spare Ribs soaked in a tangy BBQ Sauce,
and a rich and flavoursome Pork and Beans dish. Then it was onto the first class slow cooked Pork
Belly Roast; cubes of Pork Belly (with or without the tasty tender Fat) and ultra rich natural Sauce
to drench over delicious creamy Mashed Potato and Steamed Vegetables. Leave room for a sample
or two of a selection of quality Beefburgers, Hot Dog Frankfurters, or Chorizo Sausages, and an
array of tender cuts of Lamb, Pork, Chicken and Beef selection of Steaks and Kebabs, all cooked
fresh to order and brought to your table to enjoy. Not forgetting the wonderful assortment of
Seafood such as Norwegian Salmon, New Zealand Green Lip Mussels, Squid, Fresh Water Prawns,
Blue Crab and succulent Rock Lobster tails, complete with a variety of Dips, to sample either
cooked at the food stations or served cold from the ice filled trays. After indulging in all this
gourmet food, to end the meal, do try the tempting Desserts including homemade Ice Cream and
a wide selection of fresh Fruit and Cakes, such as Lemon Meringue Pie, and Sherry Trifle. Go for
it! The Monday night Cowboy Buffet Spread is certainly a fun night out especially for all the family,
and the price of 1,299 baht nett per person, (children 5 to 12 years at half price, and under 5 years
eat for free) is well worth a visit. Flames Grill is open from 7pm until 10.30pm. Reservations: 038
310 234 ext 4272.

PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 440 | SATURDAY 5TH TO SATURDAY 12TH APRIL 2014
Eurozone economic sentiment lifted by surge in
consumer confidence Economic sentiment in the eurozone in
March was boosted to its highest level since July 2011 on a wave
of newfound consumer confidence, data from the European
Commission showed on Friday. “Consumer confidence was
particularly buoyant, registering the sharpest monthly increase
since April 2009,” the European Commission said. Economic
sentiment across the 18-nation bloc increased to 102.4 this month
from 101.2 in February, exceeding market expectations of 101.4,
while the consumer confidence reading rose to -9.3 from -12.7
in February. The lift will encourage those in the European Central
Bank who have been wrestling with lethargic price rises, a
reflection of weak consumer demand. Economic sentiment has
improved sharply this year and the March reading was the highest
since July 2011, when it stood at 103.7, according to Thomson
Reuters data. Sentiment in the Netherlands jumped by 2.3 points
to 100.3, followed by a 2.2 improvement in Spain. Italy rose by
1.3 points, France by 0.7. Morale in Germany, Europe’s strongest
economy, brightened by 0.4 point. Tax cuts galore in the
coming weeks In the UK, the coming days will be much
welcomed by some as Chancellor George Osborne claims British
citizens are about to be on the receiving end of the biggest tax
cuts in 20 years. This week, income tax personal allowance will
rise to £10,000, while employment allowance will be implemented,
thus cutting a rise in employers’ National Insurance contributions
by as much as £2,000. Next week will also see a cut in the
corporation tax rate from 22% to 21%, along with doubling of
investment allowance for companies to £500,000. On the other
hand, a tougher stance on welfare will translate into “more
conditions on those claiming the dole,” Osborne announced.
The welfare measures include the Help to Work scheme, which
requires the long-term jobless to work for their benefits. Osborne
has stood firmly behind his beliefs that the welfare system is
“broken” and that it has created a sense of complacency in the
UK workforce. Many are signing on the dole to “get almost as
much money staying at home as going out to work,” he said. On
the other hand, shadow Treasury chief secretary Chris Leslie

has accused the Chancellor of “giving with one hand, but taking
away much more with the other”. “Analysis of figures from the
IFS (Institute of Financial Services) shows that households are
already £900 a year worse off because of all tax and benefit
changes since 2010,” Leslie said. Africa’s digital money MPesa going to Europe Sub-Saharan business and banking
systems have been completely revolutionised thanks to the rise
and proliferation of a mobile payment system from Vodafone.
Now, the network provider is looking to spread its wings and
bring its increasingly popular digital currency outside emerging
markets to Europe. After revealing that it has attained an emoney licence to provide financial services in Europe, according
to the Financial Times, Vodafone has now said that it currently in
the midst of preparations to launch “M-Pesa”, a word that
translates to “mobile money” in Swahili. Romania will be the first
step to potential expansion in the region, officials have confirmed.
The lack of access to easy banking services have made M-Pesa
massively popular in select parts of Africa, so much so that it is
now a virtual currency, giving people the ability to make secure
payments directly from their phones. A text message is all that
is needed to pay for everything from bills and schools fees to
flights and groceries. This means that the mobile phone can
double as an office for the continent’s smaller entrepreneurs.
Vodafone now hopes to win over an projected 7 million Romanian
nationals, most of whom make use of cash almost exclusively.
The bullish consumer data is likely to strengthen those in the ECB
who do not want to ease policy any further for now despite very
low inflation, which raises the risk of potentially damaging
deflation. Falling prices tend to discourage consumers from
spending because they expect prices to fall further. Currently

WATCH MOVIE ONLY 60 BAHT EVERY WEDNESDAY
WATCH MOVIE ONLY 120 BAHT EVERY WEDNES-
trend. The only thing you need to watch is any expectation on their part for you to
spend money you are not comfortable about.
ARIES: (Born between 21st March & 20th April) Mercury, the planet of communication
is in your sign, where it will stay until 23rd April. You will at last feel as though you can
move forward with decisions after having been through frustrating hold-ups that
started in February. Matters with others have reached a peak in some way – see
what happens from now to 20th May.
TAURUS: (Born between 21st April & 20th May) You need to consider your priorities
from now to your birthday. It may be more about the things you don’t want to do or
continue on with rather than what needs to be established as a new start. There are
likely to be people who are in situations where they can help you out or recommend
you, so don’t be afraid to ask them.
GEMINI: (Born between 21st May & 20th June) Involvement within any group of
people could become a lot busier as well as produce a few surprises. You could also
come across friends you have not seen in a while. Be cautious when it comes to taking
a risk or perhaps being impulsive with something or someone that appeals to you on a
pleasure basis – it may not last.
CANCER: (Born between 21st June & 22nd July) This is a good time to consider what
you have learnt about yourself on a personal level and how this can be helpful to
successfully develop things you want to do. It could also be that you will consider
what you need to learn in order to fulfil future goals. Out of the ordinary obligations
could be suddenly landed on you shortly.
LEO: (Born between 23rd July & 22nd August) You can begin to have a clearer mind
when it comes to plans you either want or need to put into place for the future. If
there is something you have had trouble fully understanding, it could suddenly make
sense. There can continue to be an air of mystery around somebody else to early
May. Look for exaggeration in some way.
VIRGO: (Born between 23rd August & 22nd September) There can be much to enjoy
with others to early May. You may have to just take it on that level and not worry too
much about the things you don’t understand, especially if they don’t follow the normal
LIBRA: (Born between 23rd September & 22nd October) Other people can now begin to
open up with their thoughts or in expressing the decisions they are prepared to make.
They may want things in a hurry and you should be careful of reacting quickly to this.
You have greater influence than you might feel. Give yourself time to weigh up and
draw more information from them.
SCORPIO: (Born between 23rd October & 21st November) Hold-ups that have plagued
you since early December have now reached a midpoint of the cycle that will not fully
go until late July. You can begin to feel that your luck is beginning to change and this
can continue to early May. Others can be secretive about any considerable changes of
thoughts. This can begin to surface in 3 weeks.
SAGITTARIUS: (Born between 22nd November & 21st December) You need to watch
your natural tendency to say what you think without first thinking of the consequences,
especially this week but as well to the 23rd April. There could be some jealousy lurking
in the background and you don’t want to give this person something they can act on.
There can be much to enjoy socially as well.
CAPRICORN: (Born between 22nd December & 19th January) Something you have
been thinking or communicating about or perhaps gathering information about can now
suddenly begin to fall into place in a structured manner. If there is anything you have
wanted to alter, where obligations are concerned, but found difficult, there may now
be a turning point, though not a complete solution.
AQUARIUS: (Born between 20th January & 18th February) You can at last turn your
thoughts away from finances and focus on matters that interest you more. This could
involve some sort of learning, coming to agreements or gathering information on any
matter that interests you. Watch being easily tempted to spend too much money to
early May. You could also earn more.
PISCES: (Born between 19th February & 20th March) Venus, the planet of balance and
harmony moves into your sign until 3rd May. This can produce one of the best periods
in the year for you. It coincides with the finishing of a period of consideration and reconsideration mentally, that began in February. Do the things you enjoy. Find
inexpensive ways of pampering yourself.

LEGAL
Foreign Ownership of Property in Thailand
Khun Somsak Chopaka
Siam Firm Inter Laws was
established by Khun Somsak
Chopaka an Attorney at Law
with 30 years of working
experience in domestic and
international law, for individuals
both foreign and local, domestic
entities and in-house legal
counsel
for
numerous
established international
companies. Khun Somsak will be
giving legal advice about the
ever changing situation in
regards to Thai Law and
keeping readers up to date with
the constant changing business
and social environment here in
Thailand.
As a Thai lawyer dealing with
assisting foreigners to settle in
the Kingdom of Thailand I
always get bombarded by
questions regarding foreign
ownership of property in the
Kingdom of Thailand. Technically
according to Thai law foreigners
cannot own any part of the
Kingdom’s land, they can own
buildings but not the land, and
there are only two legal ways
for foreigners, as an individual
or a company to ever own land
legally, the ways that
foreigners can have legal
ownership meaning having their
name on the back of the title
deed:
1) A Foreign company can own
land if they have received a
Board of Investment (BOI)
incentive, but there are many
aspects need to be taken into
account such as; not every
type of business can receive
BOI incentives, not all BOI
incentives allow for land
ownership, the business has to
comply with Thai law and BOI
regulations otherwise the
incentive can be revoked at any
given time if the rules and
regulation are not followed,
also when the business is closed
or the BOI incentive have been
revoked the land is required to
be sold within a period of no
less than 180 days and not
more than one year to Thai
individual or company.
2) Foreigners as an individual
can legally own a maximum of
one rai of land (1,600 square
meters)
for
residential
purposes only if they bring in
to the country forty million
(40,000,000.00) Thai Baht
(approximately 1.3 million US
dollars) to invest in specific
government approved Thai
bonds for a period of no less
than five years. This is
according to the Land Code
Amendment Act (No. 8) BE
2542. With this act permission
of the Ministry must be
obtained and if the rules are
not complied with, such as
removal of the bonds before the
investment terms is over. The
  
land is required to be sold within
the period of no less than 180
days and not more than one
year, or the land can be
disposed of by the Ministry.
What I have mention above is
something that not a every
foreigner can relate to, even
though by Thai Law foreigners
cannot own land there are ways
that they can make use or have
control of the land legally. There
are generally three ways for
foreigner to make use or control
the land legally in Thailand
which are:
(1) Setting up a Thai company
with the minimum of fifty-one
percent Thai shareholders and
maximum of forty-nine percent
foreign shareholders to hold
the land and building
ownership. Having ownership of
the land in the company name
can be beneficial especially
when the land is to be sold to
another foreigner as there is
no need to transfer the land at
the Land Department, and only
the
director(s)
and
shareholder(s) are required to
be transferred from the seller
to the buyer. But there are also
some disadvantages of owning
a company such as the required
yearly auditing and tax
payment, which can be
bothersome.
(2) Put the land in a Thai
spouse, partner or friend’s
name and make a thirty year
lease agreement to lease the
land from them, while having
the building put in the
foreigner’s name. Due to the
lease period being more than
three years, by law the lease is
required to be registered at the
land department and put on the
back of the title deed. A general
lease agreement at the land
office can be used or one can
be drafted by lawyer to include
additional
clauses
and
conditions, this process should
take no longer than one day at
the
land
department.
Advantages of a land lease is
that there is no yearly auditing
to be done, but instead having
the use of the land indefinitely
there is a thirty years limit,
however the lease can be
inherited but only up until the
end of the lease period.
(3) Put the land in a Thai
spouse, partner or friend’s
name and register Usufractuary
giving you full use of the land
for the period of your natural
life. Usufractuary registration
is done at the land department
and it is similar to a lease
registration along with similar
benefits the same as as a thirty
year lease agreement.
In regards to a foreigner owning
the building, by law the building
can be considered a separate
entity to the land making it
moveable property which a
foreigner can have ownership
of. The registration of building
ownership is done at the District
Office, before the building
ownership can be registered
the petitioner is required to
submit
a
newspaper
announcement for a period of
|
PAGE 15
thirty days to give notice for
any objection of ownership, if
no objection is raised the
building ownership can be
registered.
Lawyer comment: We will
always recommend anyone
looking to purchase a property
to contact a lawyer, don’t do it
by yourself or believe some Thai
person who says that it is easy.
A lot of people are cheated in
this type of transaction and
have lost a lot of money as well
as many a property. By
protecting yourself you are
ensuring you have the best
possible chance to secure a new
property safely and with no
problems down the line. The
lawyer fee for a service like this
will consist of two things; the
first a sales and purchase
contract and secondly for when
you have the property
transferred to your name and
you receive the title deed in
your hand. Then and only then
would you have to make the
final payment, if you have any
questions or queries about Thai
law, please feel free to contact
us at any time.

PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 440 | SATURDAY 5TH TO SATURDAY 12TH APRIL 2014
EEN BIZAR VERHAAL EN ONGELUK FRED de Brouwer
Werd
veelvuldig
geconfronteerd met het bizarre
verkeersongeluk van collega
journalist Fred de Brouwer die
in de nachtelijke uren werd
aangereden vlakbij zijn huis
door een witte Pick up met een
rood kenteken. De halve
Nederlandse pers, inclusief
misdaadjournalisten kreeg ik
over me heen met vragen. Fred
woonde al vele jaren in
Thailand waar hij naar toe was
gevlucht, omdat hij bang was
door Joris Demmink, destijds
secretaris Generaal van
Justitie, ofwel de hoogste
ambtenaar. In 2001 was er al
een onderzoek van de BVD naar
de
pedopraktijken
van
Demmink,maar
ondanks
belastende verklaringen o.a.
van zijn prive chauffeur die
ontslag had genomen wegens
wangedrag
met
kleine
jongetjes op de achterbank,
werd hij toch aangenomen als
de hoogste ambtenaar op
Justitie. Ja u leest het goed
Justitie !!! Ons meest zieke
orgaan die recht moet spreken,
en ons moet beschermen voor
criminelen.Fred werkte destijds
voor de Gaykrant,de Telegraaf
en Panorama en heeft deze
wanpraktijken aan de kaak
gesteld, waarna hij werd
bedreigd en is gevlucht naar
Thailand.Fred is afgelopen
donderdag in alle stilte
gecremeerd, maar de zaak is
nog in volle gang. Kreeg via
misdaadjournalist Korterink ook
nog een verzoek voor
informatie over Fred, van Erwin
Lensink die hier ook is
ingedoken. Erwin was destijds
de man die het waxinelichtje
had gegooid tegen de gouden
koets. Vier eerdere getuigen
kunnen het ook niet meer
navertellen, en het meest
bizarre van dit verhaal is dat ik
via een collega journalist in het
bezit kwam van een email, waar
Fred een maand voor zijn dood,
een zoon van landgenoot Peter
P. waarschuwde voor zijn vader
om te stoppen met verhalen
richting Demmink, omdat dit zijn
dood wellicht zou kosten. Ik
citeer Fred zijn email; Geachte
heer P, Stukje gelezen in de
Volkskrant over uw vader die
een vermogen stopt in de zaak
D.Wellicht overbodig, maar ik
wil u/hem toch waarschuwen
over hoever de macht van D.
reikt en tot welke maatregelen
hij in staat is. Ik ben destijds
door een ex-minister uitvoerig
geinformeerd tot welke
maatregelen hij in staat is, en
is geweest. Moord hoort daar
ook bij, al heet het dan een
ongeluk
of
tragische
omstandigheden. Er zijn toen
voorbeelden genoemd die u
ongetwijfeld kent.Het is maar
dat u/hij het weet, aldus een
van Fred’s laatste emails. De
politie doet dit zeer verdachte
ongeluk af als een ongeluk,maar
na beraad met het opperhoofd
wil men nu de zaak toch verder
onderzoeken, en is men op zoek
naar een witte Pick Up met een
nieuw (rood) kenteken, die Fred
van zijn brommer heeft
afgereden en over hem heen is
gereden. De zaak is hotnieuws
in Pattaya, waar enkele
landgenoten elkaar het leven
zuur maken,maar ook op BVN
en de in media, omdat er 4
ministers van Justitie dit in de
doofpot hebben gehouden.Zo
gaat dit op dat niveau want”
hoe groter de geest, hoe groter
het beest”. Het werd echter
oud hoofdofficier Hans Vrakking
te gortig, en die heeft
uiteindelijk
aan de bel
getrokken,samen met oud
rechercheur
Langedoen
bekend van de omstreden
mysterieuze IRT affaire
destijds.
WILDERS
Het land stond op zijn kop toen
Wilders zijn uitspraak deed
willen jullie meer of minder
Marokanen. Na jarenlange
problemen met deze groep
volkomen begrijpenlijk, maar hij
had beter kunnen vragen of
alle Criminele Marokanen na hun
gevangenisstraf het land uit
moeten.Dan had hij wel veel
punten gescoord,want de
meeste overvallen komen op
naam van Marokanen.Bij de
laatste opsporing verzocht zat
niet een landgenoot!!! Maar
om nu alle Marokanen over een
kam te scheren is niet eerlijk en
uiterst onverstandig,want er
zijn er ook die het gemaakt
hebben in het bedrijfsleven en
in de politiek. Maar het gros van
de jeugdige Marokanen zijn
crimineel, en hier moet nu
eindelijk eens een halt aan
worden geroepen ons in slaap
gevallen kabinet en Justitie.
Vorige week nog 2 moorden
door Marokanen,maar ook 2
Marokaanse slachtoffers die
werden doodgeschoten door
de vrouw van een juwelier in
Deurne. Mijn eerste reaktie was
ook, zullen wel weer die
Marokanen zijn,maar de pers
moet ook al naar de pijpen
dansen van onze Marokanen,
want wij moeten spreken over
Noord Afrikanen of licht getinte
daders.Lazer toch op met dat
labiele achterbakse geleuter.
En ja hoor weer gelijk, net zoals
bij mijn vriend Andre Hartman
die
destijds
werd
doodgeschoten door een 15
jarige Marokaanse moordenaar,
die ondanks negatief advies
van de psychiater toch op
proefverlof werd gestuurd,
want onze allochtonen zijn heer
en meester in ons land. Hij zat
2 jaar jeugdgevangenis uit voor
een moord op een vrouw die
hem betrapte bij een inbraak.
Dezelfde dag vermoorde hij mijn
vriend Andre Hartman, de
sigaren winkelier die al 15 keer
eerder was beroofd door
gelijksoortig tuig, en kreeg
darvoor 6 jaar. Ja 8 jaar met
aftrek voor 2 moorden, en dan
durven ze ook nog te
protesteren
voor
de
juwelierszaak met spandoeken
dat het recht faald in
Nederland. Ja zeker voor de
onschuldige slachtoffers.Waar
blijven onze laffe Hollanders die
dit pikken? Maar de laffe
politiek, op Wilders na, is de
grote schuldige want heeft
nooit ingegerepen. Diverse
keren in gevangenissen
gezongen met de kerst, waar
ik goed moest zoeken om een
landgenoot te vinden. De
andere schuldige is natuurlijk
ons labiele justitie apparaat die
dit tuig in de watten legt, en
van top tot teen verzorgt in
een luxe 3 sterren Hotel. Moest
ook eens optreden in de TBR
Van de Hoeve kliniek in Utrecht.
Na een rondleiding van de
direkteur
kreeg
ik
braakneigingen van de enorme
luxe, waar onze moordenaars
en kinderverkrachters het aan
niets ontbrak. Weigerde om op
te treden en mijn biezen gepakt
want dit stuitte toch hevig
tegen mijn principes. Maar waar
ik nog misselijker van wordt is
dat er een allochtonenbond
wordt gesubsidieerd van onze
belastincenten, die dit uitschot
de hand moet reiken. Wat een
krankzinnig land, en compleet
doorgedraait
zooitje
ongeregeld in Nederland
allochtonen land.Las afgelopen
week dat een Marokaan zijn
broer hed vermoord en dat hij
slechts 2 jaar hiervoor
kreeg.Verzachtende
omstandigheden in hun cultuur.
Ze leven in Ned. en wij hebben
hier niets te maken met hun
cultuur, maar wel onze halfgare
rechters die zelf hoog nodig
naar een psychiater moeten.
Leve de criminaliteit en welkom
Roemenen en Bulgaren, en nog
even dan moeten we met zijn
allen op de vlucht. Geen wonder
dat Wilders de grootste partij
wordt, want het is al heel lang
5 over 12.
PENSIOEN
Van pensioen komt voorlopig
niets want werd weer eens
bedolven onder diverse
problemen en
lugubere
sterfgevallen,waaronder onze
landgenoten, Fred de Brouwer
en Fred Lelie die in Udon Thani
op beestachtige wijze werd
vermoord, door een ontslagen
werknemer
en
zijn
bedrijfsleider. Fred beklaagde
zich destijds ook over zijn
partner die vreemd was gegaan
met een Thaise werknemer, en
na later ook bleek zijn
bedrijfsleider. Vertrouw alleen
lokale mafia. Fred had de
domme gewoonte zich rijk voor
te doen in deze arme provincie.
Helemaal fout want een Thai is
erg jaloers op ons, en vinden
dat dit geld in hun zakken moet
vloeien. Hoe maakt niet uit,
want een Thai doet meestal
eerst, en denkt niet aan de
gevolgen. De politie deed dit
even snel af als een roofmoord,
maar heb daar sterk tegen
geprotesteerd,want tijdens
Beide
daders, een ex-werknemer en
de bedrijfsleider van Fred zijn
Disco wachten waarschijnlijk de
doodstraf, danwel levenslang
want ze hebben snel bekend.
Daar kunnen onze labiele
rechters een voorbeeld aan
nemen, en zou zeggen kom hier
maar stage lopen, dan wordt
Nederland tenminste heel wat
veiliger. Ik heb een kennis die
mijn columns plaatst op zijn
w e b s i t e ;
www.compleetgestoord.nl Hij
is het helemaal met mijn visie
eens en wil hier op verder
borduren, en deeld mijn visie
dat Nederland verzuipt als we
doorgaan met dit waanzin
kabinet, en de geldverslindende
en corrupte EU..

Darren will share stories of
success and problems people
have encountered so that when
you need to do something you
can be in the success side.
Come prepared with your
questions so Darren can
provide as much value as
possible during his talk.
About the speaker:
Darren is Managing Director of
the Key Visa Company Ltd. and
their new office is located next
to Big C in South Pattaya. The
purpose of Key Visa is to help
the client in all aspects of visa
applications and to educate
people who are wishing to
reside in Thailand in the future.
His teams are all highly trained
in Thailand’s Immigration law
(BE2522) and work very closely
with the Pattaya Immigration
Department. We opened the
Key Visa Company because we
felt we could offer a specialized
consultancy visa service for
foreign nationals. Darren spent
a lot of time looking carefully at
the area and people’s needs
and doing due diligence before
committing to become a
“specialist” visa consultant. Key
Visa Co feels totally at home
with the expats and foreign
community and we endeavor to
make every visa application a
hassle free venture for our
clients. ..

Dansk forfatter hylder Pattaya i sin nye roman “Solen skinner
aldrig på en go-go-bar”
“PATTAYA CITY-skiltet blinkede,
bogstav for bogstav i
vekslende farver, fra nordsiden
af Pratumnak Hill … eller Buddha
Hill, som bjerget mellem Pattaya
og Jomtien Beach også hed på
engelsk, fordi en statue af Den
Oplyste hvilede oppe på toppen
af det.
Udsigten måtte være mageløs
– selv for en Buddha: Kulørte
lampetter og lysguirlander
strålede fra restaurantjunkerne
ude i bugten, og den samlede
neonudladning fra triple-XBlade Runner-scenografien
inde på land var så massiv, at
auraen sandsynligvis kunne
ses på Månen ... Laserstråler
og projektørkegler fejede
synkront hen over himlen,
lynende op fra hi-techdiskotekerne i den sydlige ende
af Gågaden ...
Der var en særlig magi i luften
i Badebyen, som man ikke kunne
finde noget andet sted i verden.
Pattaya var beskidt, kulørt,
syndig og vulgær, men tillige
ærlig omkring det: En by med
sin egen fordærvede skønhed
… hvis man kunne se den, som
den var.”
Sådan beskriver den kendte
danske forfatter (og tidligere
mangeårige
Berlingske
Tidende-journalist) Henrik List
Pattayas Walking Street-natteliv
med både humor, fascination og
poetisk sanselighed i sin helt
nye roman “Solen skinner aldrig
på en go-go-bar” (udgivet af
forlaget Lindhardt og Ringhof).
Opgør med fordomme
Når skandinaviske forfattere
eller journalister tilbringer et par
døgn i Badebyen, inden de
flyver videre til Koh Samui eller
Phuket, plejer de aldrig at nå
længere end til de mest
overfladiske fordomme om
sexturisme, trafficking eller
mindreårige prostituerede.
Til forskel fra så mange
kollegaer kender List imidlertid
Pattaya - på godt og ondt! - og
han skildrer i sin nye roman en
ung, dynamisk storby fuld af liv,
energi og muligheder for dem,
der tør åbne deres hjerte over
for dens upolerede charme.
List har siden slutningen af
80’erne rejst i bl.a. Japan, Kina,
Sydkorea, Singapore, Hong
Kong og Cambodia, men lægger
ikke skjul på, at Pattaya er
yndlingsdestination, når turen
går ud “øst for Suez”. Heller
ikke selvom dette giver ballade
med sure feminister og
venstreorienterede
smagsdommere i hjemlandet,
der foragter netop denne by –
uden nogensinde selv at have
været her!
“Solen skinner aldrig på en gogo-bar” tager i det hele taget tykt
gas
på
skandinavisk
nypuritanisme, når List lader
henholdsvis den blødkogte
unge, udsendte reporter Rune
Mathias Lütken og den
midaldrende, lokalt baserede
freelancer Robert ’Bob’ Larsen
skildre Badebyen fra hver
deres vinkel - i hver deres
halvdel af romanen.
Sensationshungrende medier
Plottet tager afsæt i den
virkelige ’sexskandale’ omkring
filminstruktøren Jørgen Leths
forhold til teenagepiger på Haiti.
Den ’store, slemme hvide mand’
i denne roman hedder William
Flemming: En internationalt
anerkendt dansk kunstner, der
lever i eksil på en lille paradisø
ved Koh Si Chang og angiveligt
har brugt mindreårige thaipiger
som modeller på nøgenfotos til
sin kommende udstilling på
Statens Museum for Kunst.
Mens
’sexskandalen’
eksploderer
i
de
sensationshungrende hjemlige
medier, går kunstneren under
jorden i Pattaya – skarpt
forfulgt af de to journalister, der
på hver deres måde forsøger
at holde hovedet koldt i den
dampende tropiske Red Light
City …
“Solen skinner aldrig på en
go-go-bar” kan både læses
som en spændende, hårdkogt
krimi, som en ætsende morsom
satire over den intellektuelle
’elite’ i Danmark og som en
usædvanligt
detaljeret,
sansemættet rejsebog om

Bunker Boy Gerry Cooney A Flight winner at Bangpra.
BUNKER BOYS @ The Ranch
The Bunker Boys regret to
inform all our friends of the
passing of the ever popular
golfer Reg Smart following a
recent illness.
Monday
24th
March
Bangpra (Stableford). Only
3 golfers shot par or better with
the rest of the field licking their
wounds. Always consistent
Gerry Cooney topped A flight
on 37 points with Mark Stanley
a point in arrears. Peter
Hapgood carded 36 to take B
flight which is not surprising as
those of us that know him are
wondering how he has
managed to reach the dizzy
heights of a 22 handicap.
Results:
A Flight
1st Gerry Cooney (hcp. 13)
37 pts
2nd Mark Stanley
(hcp. 8)

Wed 26th March: Green
Valley
G.C.
(Medal)
Sponsored by KPK Foods.
Today was our second medal
competition of the month, once
again sponsored by KPK Foods,
and was sure to be keenly
contested with the race for the
Golfer of the Month title also
coming to a head. It was a major
surprise then that the normally
consistent Colin Greig recorded
a very rare NR after a
disastrous first nine holes,
leaving the field open for the
other competitors. Keith
Smithson stepped up to the
plate with a level par round,
which off his handicap of 2,
gave him a nett score of 70 easily good enough to win the
day three shots clear of the
rest of the field. Peter Habgood
continued his recently rediscovered run of good form to
take second place ahead of
Raleigh Gosney with the ever
reliable Mashi Kaneta taking the
final podium position.
Results:
2)
1st Keith Smithson (hcp.
nett 70
2nd Peter Hapgood (hcp. 22)
nett 73
3rd Raleigh Gosney (hcp. 18)

nett 76
Near pins: Keith Smithson,
Geoff Parker, Mashi Kaneta and
Kenny Chung.
Friday
28th
March:
Greenwood Stableford.
The scores were generally good
with four players playing better
than their handicap, but it was
Geoff Parker took the
opportunity to rediscover some
form after a string of indifferent
performances. Geoff came back
to the clubhouse with 40 points,
one shot clear of Raleigh
Gosney who took the honours
in the B Flight. Mashi Kaneta
took fourth place overall, and
the seven points gained were
sufficient to give him an
unassailable lead in the race for
the March Golfer of the Month
title.
Results:
A Flight
1st Geoff Parker
(hcp. 15)
40 pts
2nd Mashi Kaneta (hcp. 12)
37 pts
3rd Paul Smith
(hcp. 2) 33 pts
B Flight
1st Raleigh Gosney (hcp. 18)
39 pts
2nd Peter Hapgood (hcp. 22)
38 pts
3rd PJ Redmond
(hcp. 29)
33 pts
Near pins: Gordon Melia, Geoff
Cox, Paul Smith, and Raleigh
Gosney.
Mark Wood took Silky Oak by storm with 41 points.
THE GOLF CLUB
Monday 24th March: Green
Valley Stableford – White
tees.
1st – Gary Billingham (24) 40
points
2nd – Ron Robertson (27) 39
points
3rd – Sean Hastings (10) 38
points
4th – Alan Rothwell (7) 37 points
5th - Paul Greenaway (12) 36
points
5th – Bill Eyles (24) 36 points
It was a nice cool day for golf
and the overcast skies were a
treat from the hot weather of
late. All except the last 2
groups got through the round
rain free, but a sudden
downpour soaked the last 8.
The leaderboard above tells the
tale of the tape, and it was our
mate Gary Billingham who had
a beautiful round of 40 points
to take the top spot on the
podium.
Wed 26th March: Silky Oaks
– Stableford – White tees.
1st - Mark Wood (8) 41 points
2nd – Scott Witt (11) 34 points
3rd – Oly Samonte (12) 29 points
PAGE 35
Mark Wood was the man of the
day and from the first hole
birdie, it was in his hands the
whole time. The Scotsman is
certainly used to the wind and
his approach shots were laserlike in their accuracy. It was
great fun to watch Mark go
from strength to strength and
to see our old mate take the
day with ease. Well played Mr.
Wood!
Fri 28th March: Greenwood
– Monthly Medal.
1st - Tom Breslin (24) net 73
2nd – Ken Aihara (4) net 74
3rd – Peter Larsson (13) net 75
Swede Peter Larsson stayed
the course and turned in a fine
75 for third spot on the podium
while regular Kenny Aihara
came so close today but just
not quite enough and a shot
back on 74 for second place.
The honours for this month’s
medal goes to veteran golfer
Tom Breslin who outsmarted the
low handicappers and big
hitters to win the coveted March
Monthly Medal with a 73 net off
his 24 handicap. That’s a great
round Tom, well done mate!
Steve Ellison.
Pattavia Century Winners JJ Harney with Thientong Charoenrung.
THE GROWLING SWAN
Mon, 31st March: Pattavia
Stableford. We had 2
Divisions – Division A for
handicaps 0 to 17 & Division B
for golfers on handicaps of 18
and over with three places in
each Division. There were also
rewards for nearest the pin on
the four par 3’s and longest
first putts on the 9th & 18th
greens. Division A winner was
J J Harney (10) with a fine 39
points and with 2 golfers on 34
points it was necessary to have
a count back to decide the
remaining 2 places on the
podium. The result was that
your writer, Peter Blackburn
(12) (19 point back nine)
finished in second place with
Mike Allidi (3) (17 point back
nine) in third spot. Thientong
Charoenrung (19) won Division
Mashi Kaneta, Dave Richardson & Jack Robertson at Mountain Shadow.
CAFE KRONBORG
27 th March: Mountain
Shadow Stableford. The
course was in ok condition but
you get the impression of a ship
without a rudder. We managed
to hustle around in 3 hours and
50 minutes even though we had
a lot of putts. Back in the
clubhouse a welcome went out
to Burt Lee from Canada and
goodbyes to just about
everyone for about a month
with the golf starting up again
25 April at Pattavia. Two flights
today with the cut at handicap
19 and 4 pins. Mashi Kaneta
(12) won the A flight with a fine
39 points, Arne Max Pedersen
(16) was second on a countback
from Elias Magnusson (19) third:
both 34 points. Jack Robertson
(26) took the B flight with 36
points, Tom McDowell (21)
second on a countback from
Dave Richardson (25) third:
both 32 points. Near Pins: 15
Jan Lovgreen. Long Putts: 9
Dave Richardson, 18 Tate
Akifumi.
Martin Hayes came second at Pattavia Century.
SIAM COUNTRY RESORT
Tuesday was a trip to Mountain
Shadow, where we played
from the Blue tees at around
6200 yards. With clear skies
and a light breeze, the course
was playing well with the
fairways having some run,
while the greens were true,
although not quite as
treacherous as they can be at
times. Willem Lasonder (19)
made it 2 weeks in a row,
pipping Jeff Wylie (8) on
countback 20/19 after both
signed for a steady 36 points.
B with 36 points and in second
place was the departing J C
Lhoste (23) with 31 points and
his fellow countryman Patrick
Poussier (23) came third with
30 points. Peter Blackburn.
NTP’s:
4th – Alain Taddei, 13th – Alain
Taddei, 17th – Takeshi Hakozaki.
LFP’s: 9th – Mike Gosden, 18th
- Patrick Poussier.
NTPs went to Neil, Martin & Jeff
with 2.
Pattavia was the venue for
Thursday’s game, from the
White tees at around 6,600
yards. The humidity was up,
but with a bit of cloud cover
and a light breeze, conditions
were fine for golf in the tropics.
The course was in decent
condition, although it is quite
dry in areas, with the greens
having a bit more grass on
them, making them significantly
slower than when at their best.
Jonathan Pratt (12) who has
been battling the dreaded 2 way
miss from the tee of late hit
some form with a good 38
points, edging Martin Hayes
(15) into 2nd, after a solid 37
points.

PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 440 | SATURDAY 5TH TO SATURDAY 12TH APRIL 2014
Pattaya Sports Club
Andre Van Dyk (left) receives MBMG Group Golfer of Month from Dick.
TROPICAL BERT’S
Tues
25th
March:
Bangpakong (Stableford).
We like to play this Course once
in a while, or sometimes twice
in a while. Certainly if it was a
little closer it would be played
a little more often because it is
very much liked by all who play
it. They usually play well here.
The good thing about this
Course is that it has good grass
on the fairways, and the ball
lies very well on the grass. The
rough is not too penal and the
chance of getting in real
trouble is less than on most
Courses. So to the start and
the tees here are set long, so
we played off the yellow that
is still over 6,300 yards, plenty
long enough for mere mortals.
As said this Course is not as
punishing as many but you still
have to play well to score well.
One thing here is that the
greens are huge and some are
really difficult and some quite
fair. Back at Bert’s it was soon
time to get on with the results
and this was particularly
important as a few players
were in the running for The
MBMG Group Golfer of The
Month. The day produced
some fine scores and it is
indeed amazing how players
seem to smile after a good
scoring round as they usually
play well here even if they do
not win. In the A Flight, 0 to
18, the winner with a great
round was Andre Van Dyk with
44 points, Andre had 27 points
on the back nine and I cannot
remember anyone getting more
than this in all the years I have
run golf. In second was Mike
Johns with 42 points ahead of
Bob Britton in third with 39
points. In the B Flight the
winner was Derek Brook with
39 points and also a fine back
nine of 24 points. In second was
Jack Robertson with 38 points
and for third we had a 4 way
countback on 37 points that
saw Jim Ferris in third ahead of
Dick Warberg, George King and
Tom Cotton. So to the MBMG
Group Golfer of The Month and
with his fine win on the day
Andre Van Dyk stormed home.
Well done Andre!
