What’s New
As I'm writing this, it feels like January! Good Grief. Hopefully by the time
you receive this the weather is getting warmer, but don't abandon your
sewing. We have classes to tempt you.
Remember that club in May is a week later than normal. This is because I
will be at market during the normal week buying fabric so I'm sure you all
won't mind!
The ad for the Twin Cities Shop Hop is on this page. It promises to be great
fun and you'll get a Twin Cities Treat! What could be better than that?
We are also taking signups for the State Shop Hop buses. Don't wait too
long as these will fill up quickly. For $39.95 you will take 2 buses either the
first (Aug 2nd & 3rd) or second (August 9th and 10th) weekend of the
hop. There are 6 different pick up and drop off locations. The buses will run
from 8 am to about 5 pm depending on how prompt you are with your
shopping. Lunch is not provided but a stop for lunch will be part of your
day. All shops in the Twin Cities section will be visited. I'm not sure you
can get gas for the price of the bus...at least not for my Suburban!
We will also be beginning the Wind in the Whiskers Block of the Month as
soon as the fabric arrives. Come in and look at the picture and see if this is
up your alley!
As usual, Happy Sewing! Sue H.

Cabin Fever
Advanced
Instructor: Julie
3 Sessions
Fee: $60 + Pattern
May 5th, June 9th and 23rd, 1:00 - 5:00 pm
Cabin Fever is a quilt that is made from all fat quarters- for the
60x 60- 25 dark and 25 light quarters. Log cabin cutouts is an
add on pattern sale that uses the cutaway pieces from Cabin
Fever to make a companion quilt. Join Julie Arrowood,
Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer for another new pattern
from Quiltworx. Cabin Fever is a quilt that is made from just
fat quarters. Paper piecing gives this age old classic precision
you will appreciate. Quick cutting techniques, so many different ways to lay out your colors, and sew lines that leave you
with the flattest Log Cabin Top you will ever sew, makes this
pattern a staple. Add to that, a cutaway process that allows
for the insertion of a paper pieced arc and cutaway pieces that
build a companion quilt called Log Cabin Cutouts.

from undertaking what appears to be a difficult pattern. By
using strip piecing techniques and Eleanor Burns' detailed
instructions, making this star is easy and fun to put together.
Fabric kits available.
Scalloped Placemats
All Levels
Instructor: Cindy H.
2 Sessions
Fee: $25 + Book
Mondays, June 17th and 24th, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
A new technique for curved piecing comes to us from Joyce
Lawrence Cambron in her new book A New Spin on Curved
Piecing. The Scalloped Placemat pattern is the introductory
project to learn the technique and is the lead-in to several
unique projects. So what’s so different? It’s using freezer paper
to guide the curved sewing. If you’re intrigued, come in to see
the sample and the book. We have kits to make the placemats
just like the sample or you can pick your own fabrics.
