The Need
The mouth is the gateway to the rest of the body, and every day it comes under attack from
millions of bacteria.
Competitive Solutions
Typical oral care products help strengthen teeth with fluoride, but may do little or nothing
about bacteria, the root cause of bad breath.
The Melaleuca Solution
Each product in the Melaleuca Dental Care System fights odor-causing bacteria with naturally
derived ingredients, while ingredients like fluoride help protect teeth.
The Melaleuca Value
Every Melaleuca dental care product offers great protection at a price equal to or less than
national grocery store brands.
Your smile does more than just reflect your mood and personality. It also houses more than
400 species of bacteria. In fact, no other place in the body contains such a vast diversity of
bacteria. While some of the bacteria are beneficial, others are dangerous, and the body’s
natural defenses alone cannot protect against them all. Proper oral care is critical to good
health. Unfortunately, most dental care products do little or nothing to address bacteria.
“A Mirror of Health or Disease”
Oral care affects more than just the health of your mouth. A Report of the Surgeon
General called the mouth “a mirror of health or disease,” stating that it is “the center of vital
tissues and functions that are critical to total health and well-being across the life span.”1
Numerous studies have backed the Surgeon General’s statement, proving that neglecting
the health of your mouth may have dire consequences for the rest of your body. One
leading study, published in the prestigious British Medical Journal, followed nearly 10,000
subjects for over 17 years. Researchers found that those with periodontal disease had a 25%
increase in the risk of coronary heart disease.2 These findings become even more shocking
when you consider that, according to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial
Research, an estimated 80% of American adults suffer from some form of periodontal
disease.3

“My mouth tends to develop irritated sores
after eating certain things. Using other
brands of toothpaste has not provided me
with relief. After using Classic Tooth Polish
for two months, I have not had a serious
problem with mouth sores. When I notice
sores threatening, I brush right away and,
of course, at bedtime. In the morning my
mouth is free of distress. It is nice to know
the toothpaste I am using actually cleans
my mouth!” Teresa Fehr, Lac La Biche, Alberta
“My 17-year-old daughter, who had always
had great dental exams, had not been to
the dentist in a year. They had to do a deep
cleaning of her upper teeth because of the
buildup. She was in tears from the pain.
They wanted her to come back to finish
the bottom teeth, but we were going on
vacation for three weeks. We had just
become Melaleuca customers and took
the dental products with us, including
Classic Tooth Polish and mint Breath-Away®.
When we returned, the dental hygienist
could not believe how clean her teeth
were. They didn’t have to finish the deep
cleaning!” Chantal Udasco,
Elk Grove, California
4 Steps—Complete 24-Hour Protection
Teeth and gums are under assault from odor-causing bacteria 24-hours a day, so brushing
alone is simply not enough. In just four simple steps, Melaleuca’s dental care system targets
the bacteria that lead to bad breath and other common problems, keeping your mouth
fresher and cleaner all day long.
STEP ONE:
Brush
To ensure a healthy mouth, you need to do two things: remove daily plaque buildup and
control bacteria. Melaleuca offers three ways to do both—naturally and effectively! Plus,
all three tooth polishes contain xylitol, a natural sweetener. It’s a unique triple protection
formula that you’ll only find in our Whitening Tooth Polishes (Cool Mint with Flouride, Fresh
Mint, and Cinnamon).
Gentle Cleansing
Melaleuca’s Whitening Tooth Polishes combine the gentle cleansing properties of calcium and
hydrated silica with the penetrating power of pure T40-C3® Melaleuca Oil that, with proper
brushing, gently remove plaque from your teeth. It’s so fresh and natural, it feels like you
just stepped out of the dentist’s chair. And with proper brushing, the fresh, polished feeling
of clean lasts all through the day.
Bacteria Killing
Melaleuca’s Whitening Tooth Polishes take the natural approach to keeping odor-causing
bacteria in check using a combination of three ingredients with a long history of
antimicrobial uses:
Melaleuca Oil: Long recognized for its powerful natural properties, Melaleuca Oil not
only boosts the natural cleansing power of each tooth polish , it also helps target bacteria.
In an in vitro study conducted in 2003, Melaleuca Oil was tested against 161 isolates of oral
bacteria. After just 30 seconds, Melaleuca Oil caused a decrease in bacterial viability, and
after 5 minutes no viable organisms were detected.4
Propolis: Propolis is a resinous bee product composed of flavonoids, well-known plant
compounds that have antibacterial properties.
Myrrh: A large shrub that grows in the Middle East, myrrh was first used by ancient
Egyptians. Ancient Greek and Roman physicians used myrrh extensively to treat wounds
because of its excellent antimicrobial properties. For decades, toothpastes in Europe have
used myrrh to fight the bacteria that cause bad breath. A number of recent studies have
validated its use, finding myrrh demonstrates “considerable antimicrobial activity.”7, 8
Xylitol
To help reduce the risk of tooth decay, all three Whitening Tooth Polishes are sweetened with
xylitol. Xylitol is a natural sugar derived from fruit, berries, vegetables, and birch. Unlike
other sugars, however, xylitol does not promote tooth decay.
Papain
Papain is a naturally occurring enzyme found in papaya that has the ability to break down
certain bonds. This makes papain a natural tooth whitener because of its unique ability to
break down the building blocks of stains. So instead of bleaching stains, papain actually
helps dissolve them from the tooth’s surface, leaving your smile brighter and whiter. It’s
the perfect answer to a beautiful smile.

STEP TWO:
Deep Cleaning
There are places even the best brushes can’t reach. That’s why there’s Classic Dental Floss.
Whether you’re a floss-aholic or a stranger to the string, this Teflon-type floss is sure to
make you a true believer. This extra-strong, waxed material glides easily between teeth
without fraying, removing trapped food particles and plaque and leaving behind a fresh
mint or cinnamon flavor.
STEP THREE:
Rinse
Breath-Away® Mouth Rinse’s bad-breath-fighting formula is charged with T40-C3 Melaleuca
Oil, propolis, and myrrh to deliver a triple blast of freshness that can’t be beat. Breath-Away
Mouth Rinse is alcohol-free, making it perfect for the whole family. And it’s available in two
energizing flavors—cinnamon and mint.
STEP FOUR:
Protect
Bad breath can strike anywhere, but when you keep a Hot Shot® Breath Spray or Cool Shot®
Breath Spray on hand, clean, fresh breath is only a spray away! A quick blast of cinnamon
(Hot Shot) or mint (Cool Shot) instantly refreshes your mouth while propolis and myrrh
attack the bacteria that cause bad breath. And unlike some other breath aids, Hot Shot and
Cool Shot Breath Sprays are both alcohol-free and contain aloe for a refreshing sensation that
really lasts.
Fight Plaque and Bad Breath Between Meals
Don’t want to drag your toothbrush along to your business lunch or romantic dinner?
No problem, just pop a piece of Hot Shot or Cool Shot Sugarless Gum and get your mouth
“brush fresh” between meals. Supercharged with propolis, these gums quickly go to work
on the bacteria that cause bad breath, while hot cinnamon, cool peppermint, or snappy
spearmint flavors (all sweetened with xylitol) provide instant refreshment. 
