popular?”
is a question frequently
asked by retailers and
consumers. When it comes
to trends, it isn’t about the
popularity of a particular
hue, but rather it is about
the ebb and flow of groups
of colors and the manner
in which manufacturers
and designers apply those
hues to the goods they
create. Driven by forces
such as the economy,
politics, technology and
the environment, trends
in color are a reflection of
the consumer mindset. As
the economy continues to
rise and fall, those with an

are less seasonal than in

Spessartite Garnet - A cheery, orange-hued Garnet, Spessartite was first
discovered in the German Spessart Mountains. Unfortunately, so little was found
that the rare gem was largely reserved for collectors. This remained so for many
years, until another source was discovered along the Kunene River between
Angola and Namibia. A later find in Nigeria brought a small supply to market.
Supplies of gem-quality Spessartite, however, remain limited.
Precious Topaz - Topaz was revered by the Egyptians and Romans, who
associated it with the setting sun. It was also one of the gemstones that were
reported to form the foundation of the twelve gates to the Holy City of the
New Jerusalem. In modern times, rich stores of Precious Topaz were discovered
in Russia; placed in the jewels of Russian Czarinas’s, the gem earned the name
of “Imperial Topaz.” Today, Imperial Topaz refers to Topaz that displays a peachy
pink hue – these gems are prized for their rarity and exquisite beauty.
