The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is honored to be a part of the upcoming 21st World Olympic Collectors Fair, to be held here in Lake Placid from September 10-‐13, 2015. We invite all Olympic philatelic, numismatic, and memorabilia collectors to come to our Olympic Village this fall for a very special time. There will be many exciting activities, such as a free tour of the Olympic sites from both the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games, free receptions at the Olympic Museum and the United States Luge Association’s headquarters, as well as participation by Olympians past and present, among many other activities. And, of course, a huge trading floor in the historic 1932 Olympic Arena. Special postal cancellations will be offered by the United States Postal Service, and Olympic exhibits will be on display. Special rates have been negotiated with several hotels, and free transportation in town will be available. The accompanying package includes information on the 21st World Olympic Collectors Fair, hotel information, as well as a reservation form, and participation costs. There is also information on airports, airlines, and other modes of transportation. You may make reservations either by mailing in the enclosed forms, or by visiting the official World Olympic Collectors Fair website at: www.lakeplacid2015.com We look forward to seeing you in Lake Placid this September! Sincerely, MaryLou Brown President Lake Placid Olympic Museum September 10, 2015. The 21st World Olympic Collectors
Fair Comes To Lake Placid.
The Village of Lake Placid has a rich sports heritage. In addition to hosting two Winter
Olympics, Lake Placid has hosted nine Bobsleigh World Championships, two Luge
World Championships, a Nordic World Ski Jumping Championship, a Freestyle World
Ski Championship, a Speed Skating World Championship, a World Sprint Speed Skating
Championship, countless World Cup Events in almost all winter sports disciplines, and
dozens of national sports events, championships, and Olympic trials for both Winter &
Summer events. Lake Placid also hosts the second oldest Iron Man Triathlon in the
country every July, as well as an annual marathon and half marathon.
The Village of Lake Placid has continued to use almost all the venues from the 1980
Winter Olympics, and added to them with new, state of the art facilities. The 1932
Olympic Arena, the first indoor arena used in a Winter Olympics, was renovated for the
1980 Games, and is still in use today, hosting international and national hockey games
and tournaments, figure skating competitions, exhibitions, and more.
