2016 OPENING WEEK SCHEDULE All times Central Thursday, August 11 3-6 p.m. – Class of 2020 Commuter Check-In BIGGERS SPORTS CENTER All new commuting students must check in at Biggers Sports Center. Saturday, August 13 9 a.m.-2 p.m. – Class of 2020 Arrives BIGGERS SPORTS CENTER All commuting students who were unable to attend the check-in session on Thursday, August 11 should check in at this time. 1-2 p.m. – Honors Reception NORMA AND GLEN HODGE CENTER FOR DISCIPLESHIP Students who are interested in participating in the Honors Program are invited to attend this reception to learn more about the program. 3:15 p.m. – Class of 2020 Kick-Off Ceremony (MANDATORY) ROBERTA D. CRANMER DINING & CONFERENCE CENTER Students will be welcomed by President Dr. William T. Luckey .Jr. and Student Government Association President Hannah McCandless. You will watch a video about what it means to be a Blue Raider! All new students are expected to be in attendance for this very important event. Please wear your #iamablueraider t-shirt. A group photo will be made. 4 p.m. – Commuter Connection (MANDATORY) W.W. SLIDER HUMANITIES FOYER All commuting students are required to attend this introduction to commuter life on Lindsey Wilson’s campus. Commuters will get to know other commuting students and have a chance to win some door prizes: including bookstore certificates and meal cards to the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. 5 p.m. – President’s Picnic ON THE LAWN OF THE EMILY D. HUNDLEY PRESIDENT’S HOME Meet LWC’s President, Dr. Luckey, and First Lady, Mrs. Luckey. Enjoy an outdoor feast prepared by the fantastic Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center Staff. 8-11 p.m. – Class of 2020 Lock-in! DORIS AND BOB HOLLOWAY HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER The fun has just begun! Play Water Pong, Grocery Bingo, participate in a Giant Beach Ball Tournament, or just shoot some hoops at this event just for new students. We’ll also have snacks and giveaways! Students will learn how to make better choices about balancing academics, leadership, social relationships and campus life. 5-6:30 p.m. – Dinner ROBERTA D. AND ROWENA EVERETT BUILDING Students who could have scored better on their placement testing will have the opportunity to take the Placement Challenge and may test out of a developmental class. During this session, you will participate in Raider Games with your peers. Raider Games are a series of fast paced relay races in the spirit of competition. You will be paired up in teams with your classmates and Peer Mentors and compete for the Blue Raider Spirit Award! This is a fun and interactive way to get to know more people, build a sense of team work and encourage excitement among your classmates.
