IntelliControl Certification Test
This is the Niles IntelliControl certification test. This test is to be taken by all Niles
dealers who wish to sell IntelliControl. Please read all of the information before you
send back the completed test. On this IntelliFile II disk everything you need to complete
the test is here. The steps should be done in this order:
1: Read the IntelliControl Reference Manual PDF using Acrobat Reader
2: Read the IntelliFile II Reference Manual PDF using Acrobat Reader
3: View the tutorial within the IntelliFile II program
4: Read the test requirements document
5: Using IntelliFile II complete the configuration using the supplied information
6: Save the completed configuration (using your name and company name as the file
name) to you computer’s hard drive. Two files are generated when you save a
completed configuration (i.e. kenjohnsen audioconcepts.ifd and kenjohnsen
audioconcepts.if_).
7: Email both the .ifd and .if_ files to Niles Tech support at [email protected]
Remember to include your name, company name and phone number in your e-mail
along with any other contact information.
8: Contact your regional Niles Representative to complete the dealer paperwork.

Procedure
Load the CD rom into the CD rom
drive. It is a self loading program
and will call up your default web
browser.
1) Load the IntelliFile II program by
left mouse clicking the IntelliFile
II 1.02 link.
2) When the next prompt comes up
choose the option of running the
program from its current location
3) Follow the on screen
prompts and the program
will load.
4) Click on the link to run the IR
Code Library to load the extended
IR library
5) Read the next screen that comes
up, all information to load the IR Library is here (once the IR library is
loaded refer to the IntelliFile II Resource Manual PDF on the same disc
and read section 2F. Page 6).
6) Again choose “Run this program
from its current location”.

7) This prompt screen comes up next.
If you are loading the program for the first
time check the Overwrite prompt.
If you are just loading the library and
don’t want to overwrite your existing IR
library uncheck this box
8) Follow the screen prompts. Then take
the CD rom out of the drive and restart your
computer
Please read both the IntelliControl Reference Manual PDF and the IntelliFile II Reference Manual
PDF before proceeding.
The test involves using the following equipment.
Toshiba TV CN35E90 this TV has only 2 (two) inputs: the antenna input and the external video/
audio input. This TV has a set of audio output jacks for the sound. This TV requires using the sequence control method to navigate these inputs. The anchor command to get the TV to the antenna
input is to issue the Channel Up command. After the anchor command the TV/Video command will
toggle through the TV’s inputs. The TV also has a single toggle power command.
Marantz Surround Receiver SR5000 this receiver has separate on and off commands. This receiver also has direct access to both inputs and surround modes. The receiver also has a switched
outlet. The tuner has preset number 1 (one) set for the customer favorite radio station of 99.5 The
Marantz receiver has direct access to the presets.
RCA DSS DSS This is a generic satellite receiver from RCA. It has separate on and off commands.
The satellite is hooked up to the Marantz receiver through the Marantz’s VCR1 input.
Sony DVD CX850D This DVD player has separate on and off commands. It also has 2 (two) video
outputs. The DVD player is hooked up to the Marantz though it’s DVD input.
Jerrold Cable Decoder Box Impulse This cable box has a single power command and a switched
outlet on the back. The cable box is taking the cable antenna feed off the wall through the cable box
to the antenna RF connection on the Toshiba TV set. To watch the cable box the TV has to be on
channel 3.
The test is to develop a completed IntelliControl/IntelliFile II configuration. The customer is asking for
the following buttons (Master Keys): DSS, DVD, Cable, CD, Tuner (which should bring up his favorite station), Surround (for manual control to change surround modes). The customer would like to
take advantage of three of the four remaining Master Keys and have his three favorite stations off the
satellite. His favorite stations are as follows HBO channel 501, ESPN channel 206, and USA Network channel 253. Please refer to the accompanying wire diagram for system connections.

All of the IR codes to complete the certification test are on the CD rom. Some of the codes are in the
base library and some are in the extended IR library and have to be registered. Please make sure to
read all sections of the test procedure. Above are all of the IR remote files that you have to use.
This test is to make sure you understand the IntelliControl and IntelliFile II software. To become a dealer of IntelliControl please contact you Niles Representative. There is additional
paperwork that the Niles Rep needs to fill out to accompany your approval.
