Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, i wonder when the Open Track is?
Hey gang, this weekend is our ninth annual High Speed Fun in Music City open track event. For those of you who are new
to the club, this is one our main exposure events for the year. The other is our Fall event and car show in September. If
you have never attended an Open Track event, come on out and get involved. You do not have to have any experience,
just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and help where you can. There is nothing like seeing cars go fast and burn gas on
the 1.88 mile road course of the Nashville Superspeedway. You will have a blast.
On June 4th, a large contingent of our club will be departing Nashville for our annual road trip. In years past, we have
gone to Savannah, Charleston, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This year we are headed to Colonial Williamsburg,
VA. While there, we will take in Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, the Busch Gardens, and Virginia Beach.
If you really want to get to know your fellow club members, you definitely need to go on one of these outings. This is not a
car event, so you do not have to drive your Pony Car. This is about going as a group, having fun, eating a lot, and getting
to know each other a little better. If you want to participate, please give me a call. We still have some rooms left at the
Quarterpath Inn. We will return on Monday June 8th.
On a personal note, I want to thank all of the MCMC members who worked very hard at the Mustang 45th Anniversary
Celebration in Birmingham. We, as a club, held one of the most successful, and safe Open Track events that MCA has
ever had. This is not just my opinion, but the opinion of most every email that I have received praising your efforts. My
hat is off to all of you.
The 45th was well planned, a little spread out, but well received by all who attended. Jason will cover the event in more
detail in his article contained within. The facilities were beautiful, and the weather was fantastic. All-in-all, the event was
a success. If you did not make it, you should have. You need to make plans to attend the 50th for sure.
See you on Thursday.

My Experience with Tommy Kendall
by Melissa Moore
As I walked up to Tony Ezell to relieve him from his shift of working at the
Mustang 45th celebration, little did I know I was about to get an experience
of a lifetime. As I was standing there helping get cars lined up to go out onto
the track, a gentleman from Ford Racing came over to me and asked if I
wanted to be a passenger in one of the Ford Mustang Challenge Racing cars.
Of course, I jumped at the chance. What made it an even more amazing experience is that the car was driven by Tommy Kendall.
If you don’t know who
Tommy Kendall is, he
won the SCCA Trans-Am
Series championship four times, and also ran in many NASCAR
road races. The man can drive. It was such an exciting experience to
ride with him a few laps around the track, and be able to watch the
line a professional drove around the track. He put that car through its
paces and laughed at me because he did not scare me a bit- even
when he got a little squirrelly. I guess you could say he even increased my need for speed! All I heard was that my grin was a mile
wide when I climbed out of that car. It was incredible! I am very
grateful I was given this opportunity because it was definitely one of
the most awesome moments I’ve experienced
TRIP TO AMBER FALLS WINERY AND CELLARS
794 Ridgetop Rd.
Hampshire, TN 38461
931/285-0088
The trip to Amber Falls Winery and Cellars will be June 6, 2009. They are providing us with music performed
by Scott Boyd and Donnie Frits at no cost to us. The music starts at 3:30 p.m. and will last until 7:30 p.m. I would
suggest that anyone interested arrive about 30 minutes early and be sure to bring your own chairs. If anyone is interested in a group going to the winery together, directions to the winery are listed below.
Of course the winery offers wine tasting and we can purchase their wine to enjoy during the entertainment. The
winery also sells crackers, cheeses and meats or we can bring our own food. There is also a restaurant (Fall Hallow)
about 3-4 miles from the winery that serves very good catfish, other seafoods and some steaks. A plus is that we can
take wine from the winery to the restaurant to have with our dinner.
I hope we can have a large group to this outing. For more information on Amber Falls Winery and Cellars,
their website is amberfallswinery.com.
Please confirm if you are coming to this outing by e-mail at
[email protected] or call me at 615/746-4232 and confirm if you want to go to Fall Hallow Restaurant.

Per Jim’s article, I was suppose to write an article about the 45th. After seeing all of the pictures taken by the Ray Moore
family, I decided to let the pictures do the talking. There are so many good pictures I ran out of space. There are a set of
pictures that I really enjoyed and I will write an article about those for next month. Look for pictures from the 45th
spread throughout this newsletter and in the next few issues.
A special thank you goes to the Ray Moore family. They provided the pictures. Good job.
