under one roof
UpCountry’s flagship store has taken up residence in a multilevel megahome, a 42,000square-foot building that was once a BMW
mechanics garage. Within the open-concept
space, Beemers have given way to Barcelona and Bertoia chairs, and miniboutiques
like Quince Flowers, Vespa Salon, Pedini
Toronto (which showcases kitchen designs
imported from Italy) and Art101 (a contemporary art gallery).

friendly beauty
UpCountry’s grey slate-tile storefront looks
swish and minimalist, as do the ultramodern living room vignettes seen through its
windows. Inside, though, it’s bright and
warm, and the staff are easy to chat with.
Shoppers can linger, try out furniture and
peek at price tags in relative privacy.
