LIVE UNITED. WITH ALOHA. LIVE UNITED. WITH ALOHA. LIVE UNITED IT’S NOT HOW MUCH WE GIVE, BUT HOW MUCH ALOHA WE PUT INTO GIVING ANNUAL REPORT 2012 WITH ALOHA. LIVE UNITED. WITH ALOHA. LIVE UNITED. WITH ALOHA MISSION PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE We are a fundraiser to support local non-profits and direct resources to address community needs and make Hawaii a better place to live. LIVING UNITED Aloha United Way envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, financial stability and healthy lives. Imagine Hawaii as a place that fosters hope and opportunity for everyone. A place where… • All children receive a quality education that offers a pathway to a brighter tomorrow. •The cycle of poverty and financial dependence ends, and productive livelihoods begin for even the most disadvantaged. • Everyone receives effective healthcare that improves quality of life. •Communities not only set significant and measurable goals to advance these fundamental elements of human development, but achieve them. To LIVE UNITED means we are willing to be part of something bigger than ourselves. It means we are willing to invest in our friends, neighbors, and community. As we know first hand, United Way is a powerful way to increase the organizing capacity of people to care for one another and unite to solve problems; and Aloha United Way is proud to be leading this mission of service. To all of our supporters, thank you for your donations in 2012 and your compassionate support that has allowed Aloha United Way to touch over 800,000 lives and support over 300 local non-profits. These past couple of years we have all been faced with the prospect of belt tightening, while at the same time needs have been escalating due to the economic challenges facing our society. Despite challenging times, our supporters have demonstrated extraordinary generosity both with their money and their time. In 2012, we raised over $10.7 million to invest back into our local community while advancing efforts in education and poverty prevention and creating a safety net of support for those in crisis in our community. Aloha United Way dollars from 2011, funded more than 2.4 million participant visits at local non-profits in 2012 and every one of our supporters played a big part in making that possible. This annual report highlights the many ways we continue to improve lives and the donors and companies partnering with us in this mission to strengthen our communities. On behalf of all of us at Aloha United Way... the hundreds of local non-profits we serve... and the hundreds of thousands of local people being helped – Thank you! We couldn’t do it without you.
