GLOVES
Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce different results.
Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters.
Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot.
NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
• 1 set each of 2.75mm (UK 12) and 3.25mm (UK 10)
double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to give
correct tension.
• wool needle for sewing in ends.
TENSION
27.5 sts and 37 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.25mm needles.
To work a tension square, using 3.25mm needles, cast on 42 sts.
Work 54 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.
Check your tension carefully.
If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.
NOTE – These Mitts or Gloves have been worked on smaller
needles at a firmer tension than usually recommended.

RIGHT MITT OR GLOVE
Using set of 2.75mm double-pointed needles and C1, cast on
36 (40-48-56) sts and divide as evenly as possible between 3 needles.
Join to work in rounds, taking care not to twist cast on edge.
1st round – * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st round 4 (6-7-8) times.
Using C2, rep 1st round 5 (7-8-9) times.
Using C1, rep 1st round 5 (7-8-9) times, dec 2 sts evenly in last
round … 34 (38-46-54) sts.
Change to set of 3.25mm double-pointed needles and M for
rem. **
1st round – M1, K2, M1, knit to end of round.
Knit 3 rounds.
5th round – M1, K4, M1, knit to end.
Knit 3 rounds.
9th round – M1, K6, M1, knit to end.
Cont inc in this manner (working 2 extra sts between inc) in every
foll 4th round until there are 42 (48-58-66) sts.
Knit 3 rounds.
Prepare for Thumb –
1st round – Using a scrap length of C1 or C2 – (K2tog) 4 (5-6-6)
times, slip these 4 (5-6-6) sts back onto left-hand needle, using M
knit these sts again, then knit to end of round … 38 (43-52-60) sts.
Work 11 (13-15-17) rounds.
Work First Finger –
Next round – K5 (6-7-8), slip next 27 (31-38-44) sts onto another
scrap length of C1 or C2 and leave for rem fingers, turn, cast on 2
sts, turn, K6 (6-7-8) … 13 (14-16-18) sts.
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and cont
as folls –
IF MAKING MITT –
Knit 4 (4-6-8) rounds.
Cast off loosely.
IF MAKING GLOVE –
Knit 20 (22-26-28) rounds.

Knit 22 (24-28-30) rounds.

Next round – K2 (0-2-1), * K2tog, K1, rep from * to end … 10 (1012-13) sts.
Next round – K0 (0-0-1), * K2tog, rep from * to end … 5 (5-6-7) sts.
Break off yarn, run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten
off securely.

Work Third Finger –
With right side facing, knit across first 4 (5-6-7) sts from thread, turn,
cast on 2 sts, turn, knit last 4 (5-6-7) sts from thread, knit up 2 sts
from cast on sts at base of second finger … 12 (14-16-18) sts.
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and cont
as folls –
IF MAKING MITT –
Knit 4 (4-6-8) rounds.
Cast off loosely.
IF MAKING GLOVE –
Knit 20 (22-26-28) rounds.

Next round – K0 (2-1-0), * K2tog, K1, rep from * to end … 8 (1011-12) sts.

Work Fourth Finger –
With right side facing, knit across rem 9 (10-13-15) sts from thread,
knit up 2 sts from cast on sts at base of third finger … 11 (12-1517) sts.
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and cont
as folls –
IF MAKING MITT –
Knit 4 (4-6-8) rounds.
Cast off loosely.
IF MAKING GLOVE –
Knit 16 (18-22-24) rounds.
Next round – K2 (0-0-2), * K2tog, K1, rep from * to end … 8 (810-12) sts.
Next round – * K2tog, rep from * to end … 4 (4-5-6) sts.
Break off yarn, run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten
off securely.
BOTH MITT AND GLOVE –
Carefully unpick scrap yarn stitch by stitch, placing the 8 (10-1212) sts from lower side of thumb opening on one needle and the
3 (4-5-5) sts from upper side on another needle … 11 (14-17-17)
sts (see diagram).
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles, rejoin
yarn at beg of lower sts and cont as folls –
1st round – K8 (10-12-12) (lower sts), knit up one st at side of
thumb opening, K3 (4-5-5) (upper sts), knit up one st at other side
of thumb opening … 13 (16-19-19) sts.
IF MAKING MITT –
Knit 4 (4-6-8) rounds.
Cast off loosely.
IF MAKING GLOVE –
Knit 16 (18-22-24) rounds.
Shape Top –
Next round – K1, * K2tog, K1, rep from * to end … 9 (11-13-13) sts.
Next round – K1, * K2tog, rep from * to end … 5 (6-7-7) sts.
Break off yarn, run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten
off securely.
LEFT MITT OR GLOVE
Work as given for Right Mitt or Glove to **.
1st round – Knit to last 2 sts, M1, K2, M1.
Knit 3 rounds.
5th round – Knit to last 4 sts, M1, K4, M1.
Knit 3 rounds.
9th round – Knit to last 6 sts, M1, K6, M1.
Cont inc in this manner (working 2 extra sts between inc) in every
foll 4th round until there are 42 (48-58-66) sts.
Knit 3 rounds.

Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and
complete as given for Second Finger of Right Mitt or Glove.
Work Third Finger –
With right side facing, knit across first 4 (5-6-7) sts from thread, turn,
cast on 2 sts, turn, knit last 4 (5-6-7) sts from thread, knit up 2 sts
from cast on sts at base of second finger … 12 (14-16-18) sts.
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and
complete as given for Third Finger of Right Mitt or Glove.
Work Fourth Finger –
With right side facing, knit across rem 9 (10-13-15) sts from thread,
knit up 2 sts from cast on sts at base of third finger … 11 (12-1517) sts.
Divide these sts as evenly as possible between 3 needles and
complete as given for Fourth Finger of Right Mitt or Glove.
Work Thumb –
Work as given for Thumb of Right Mitt or Glove.
