All ushers are to attend.
Sunday’s Readings:
First Reading - The question of whether circumcision is necessary for salvation
(Acts 15:1-2, 22-29).
Psalm - O God, let all the nations praise you! (Psalm 67).
Second Reading - John envisions the holy city, the new Jerusalem
(Revelation 21:10-14, 22-23)
Gospel - The Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in Jesus’ name, will teach us everything
(John 14:23-29).

THE GIFT OF PEACE
We are offered another vision in today’s second reading, a vision of the New Jerusalem,
“coming down out of heaven from God” (Revelation 21:10). Read between the lines describing
the radiant city, and we find that the greatest beauty revealed is the beauty of perfect
symmetry and order, a city founded on the faith of the twelve tribes of Israel and the
Twelve Apostles, lit only by the glory of God.
The first reading and the Gospel are linked to this idealized description of the New
Jerusalem. In both we read of distress and disturbance countered by the gift of peace. “[M]y
peace I give to you,” Jesus assures his disciples at the Last Supper (John 14:27). In keeping
with that gift, the apostles and elders, in the reading from Acts, decide not to disturb the
peace of new Gentile believers. The undue burden of circumcision will not be imposed on

OLP 31 Club
Praying for vocations every day of the year!
Members of the 31 Club agree to go to daily Mass on a
particular day every month and offer that Mass for an increase
of vocations to the Church. There is a great need for vocations
in the Church today. One of the best ways to increase vocations
is through prayer, and the greatest prayer we have is the holy
sacrifice of the Mass.
Upcoming Mass commitments:
May 1: Maxine R., Mark S., Evelyn V.
May 2: Kathy W., Deacon Dennis K.
May 3: Sister Peggy, Linda D., Wilma M., Virginia S.
May 4: Arlene B., Connie F.
May 5: Ed B., Joyce K., Chuck & Linda R.
May 6: Maxine B., Denise & Michael G., Bernie H.
May 7: Margaret K.
If you would like to join the OLP 31 Club, please call Dave or
Kathy Wayman at 454-8974. There are no dues and no
meetings, only opportunities for grace and the satisfaction that
comes from helping to fulfill a great need in the Church.
Are you going to Mass?
Then offer the Mass for Vocations
by praying the prayer below...
Serra Prayer for Vocations
O God, who wills not the death of a sinner * but rather that
he be converted and live * grant we beseech you * through
the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin * Saint
Joseph, her spouse * St. Junipero Serra * and all the saints *
an increase of laborers for your Church * fellow laborers
with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls *
through the same Jesus Christ * Your Son * Who lives and
reigns with You * In the unity of the Holy Spirit * God
forever * and ever. Amen.

A Family Perspective
Today Jesus gives this advice:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
Worry and anxiety can consume our lives
preventing us from seeing the love which
Surrounds us and binds us to one another.
A free-will offering will be taken
during the concert to benefit
the OLP Relay for Life Team.
Think Faith Is Irrational? Think Again!
Dr. Ray Guarendi, clinical psychologist, gifted
speaker, author, and radio and television
personality, takes you through his journey back to
the Catholic faith. His stepping stones? LOGIC!
Pure and simple. Catholic dogma is a result of the
marriage of faith and
reason and Dr. Ray
explains how he came
to full faith in the
Catholic church in one
of the most
memorable talks you’ll
ever hear.
Please browse our
kiosk where you will
find CDs, books and
pamphlets that will
deepen your understanding of the faith. Read or
listen to these resources then pass them on to
others who may be struggling in their faith.
Our Lady of Peace Pro-Life Committee –
Mother’s Day Carnation Sale

help us with this important work.

People for Life, will be available after
all the Masses next weekend.
Help celebrate Mother’s Day by
getting some beautiful carnations for
that special mom in your life.

help support local pro-life educational activities.

the common good by providing each of us an opportunity to unite and reach out to
those in need that are in our parishes, cities and throughout the Diocese of Erie
