• Rothesay / Isle of Bute on Sunday 30th June
• Tighnabruaich Area & Portavadie Marina Complex Monday 1st July, Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd July - the 2 venues are 15 mins apart
• Largs/Fairlie on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July
The Fife Regatta will provide a luggage transport van for competitors to help get your belongings from one venue to the other.

You should arrange to arrive in Largs by Friday afternoon, in order to attend the
Welcoming Reception at 7pm that night.
LARGS
Largs is situated on the West Coast of Scotland, 30 miles West of Glasgow. It is a small tourist town with spectacular views
of the Islands of Arran, Bute and the Cumbraes. Largs Yacht Haven, the base where all yachts will gather, is situated
between Largs and Fairlie, the home of William Fife's historic boatyard.

The airport lies to the west of the City and is within easy reach of most places in Scotland. The M8 Motorway via Junction 28
gives easy access to and from the airport. The airport is about 20 minutes drive from Glasgow City Centre and 40 minutes from Largs.
From the airport, follow signs for the A737 towards Irvine for 10 miles until you reach a small roundabout, turn right towards Lochwinnoch
on the A760, through Kilbirnie and on to Largs.

Paisley Gilmour Street is the nearest train station to the Airport, and is located just two miles from the
airport. It can be reached by taxi or by the frequent bus service which departs every 10 minutes from
the terminal forecourt (journey time 10 mins). The journey to Largs takes 50 minutes and goes every hour.

The fleet will race from Largs to Rothesay on Sunday 30th
ROTHESAY
Rothesay is a small seaside town situated on the Isle of Bute. A Ferry Service runs direct from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay.
Marina berthing will be available to the smaller of the fleet and others will need to anchor in Rothesay Bay.
HOW TO GET TO ROTHESAY
from Largs. Take the coast road north from Largs for 8 miles to Wemyss Bay for the ferry to Rothesay
The ferry service is appoximately hourly and the journey takes about 35 minutes.

The Kyles of Bute are made up of an East Kyle and a West Kyle, either side of the Isle of Bute, which meet at a group of islands
at the ‘Narrows’. There are two passages by the islands. On the north side is a buoyed channel and on the south side a narrower
channel marked by beacons and buoys.

The flood tide runs up each Kyle but the West Kyle flood wins and continues through the narrows to meet the East Kyle flood some
mile or so south of the narrows at a wee church on the mainland shore.
Minimum depth LWS in Northern Channel approx 4m. Minimun depth in Southern Channel LWS approx 2m with care.

Tighnabruaich/Portavadie
TIGHNABRUAICH & PORTAVADIE - Monday 1st, Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd July
These two venues are 10 mins apart so you should book accommodation in one or the other for the three days
The boats will cruise from Rothesay to Tighnabruaich on the Monday for 1pm to enjoy the hospitality of the Tignabruaich Community,
an afternoon of mini Highland Games / Skiff Racing / Rowing races, followed by Ceilidh and Hog Roast dinner in the evening.
Tighnabruaich Tighnabruaich is a village on the mainland of Argyll at the head of the West Kyle and across from the Isle of Bute
HOW TO GET TO TIGHNABRUAICH
From Rothesay Follow the coast North westerly to the ferry crossing to Colintraive. After crossing the East Kyle follow the A886 and signposts
around the top of Loch Riddon through Ormidale to Tighnabruaich 25 miles - approx 1 hour
From Largs take the coast road north to McInroys Point for the Western Ferries to Hunters Quay. Then go north and west on the A815 before
turning left on to the B836 and signs for Tighnabruaich. 40 mls - approx 2½ hours

The anchorage at Tighnabruaich lies at the head of the West Kyle across from the Isle of Bute. Moorings will be available for smaller boats in the

Controlling depth is at the entrance sill, which is approximately 4.5m at LW. The pontoon network is moored by a Seaflex anchoring system
so deep draft vessels may need to be aware of the anchoring lines when coming alongside.
All the shallower ledges extending from the walls of the marina lagoon are clearly marked by buoys and perches.
Challenge 72’s (3.05m draft) are regular visitors, coming in past the hammerheads and turning in the area North of H Dock, before berthing
alongside a hammerhead.
