Piotr Toka Aleksander Balabanov Julia Lipka Filip Nowociński 2a Tourism Recreation Night out Past and present St. Catherine’s Church and parish – is the oldest existing parish in Warsaw. It was built in 1238 thanks to funding from the Prince Konrad Mazowiecki. According to archaeological researches on the grounds of the parish there once was a centre of pagan cult. On the grounds near by the church there is a statue of Communist terror martyrs. The church is on a hill and under the hill there are caves. These caves are symbol of nature and our residence for bats. Fosa 17 St. Natolin Park and Palace – the history of Natolin begins when King John III Sobieski built a zoological garden. The palace was built in 1780 for Prince August Czatoryski. Then it belonged to the Potocki family. In honor of their daughter – Natalia Potocka the palace was rebuilt. Also they built a sarcophagus and monument to her a doric temple, a Roman aqueduct and mauritanian bridge. European Centre Natolin. Into the composition of the park and palace goes the nature reserve Las Natolinski. Nowoursynowska 84 St. Fort VII Sluzew – is one of the forts of the outside ring of Warsaw Fortress. It was built in the 80’s of the 19th century. In the 70’s a military housing was built there. Nowoursynowska St. Imielinski Lake – is a water reservoir covered by protection. It is a postglacial lake. It’s age is estimated to be around 200 thousand years old. There are 23 species of birds living near this lake. Sluzewiec Racecourse – is a horse racing track built in 1925. The track was opened on June 3rd 1939. The race track besides being a place for horse races is a places for celebrity performance. The wall that separates the track from Pulawska St. is a gallery of Warsaw grafiti. Pulawska 266 St. Sluzewiec Racecourse Imielinski Lake Fort Sluzew The Krasinski Palace in Ursynow – was built in 1776 on the request of the Princess Isabel Lubomirska for her daughter. Now it is the rector’s office for SGGW. From 1822 it was the property of J.U.Niemcewicz. Julius Slowacki frequented in these palace. The Kabacki Forest – is the biggest wildlife reserve in Mazowsze. The flora is multispecies. In the forest there is a forester, Park Powsin a botanical garden, a memorial to the victims of the crash of the “Kosciuszko” plane. Also there is the Air Operations Center where enigma code was broken. Sport objects in Ursynów: SGGW There is a: tennis court, park, swimming pool, gym, Fitness club. This is a college but it's also a very good public place for relaxing and training. Set of courts on Koncertowa St. There is a : football pitch(the only one in Poland that is under a baloon), tennis court, swimming pool, gym and beach volleyball court. The whole thing belongs to the Gimnazjum nr 92. In the building of Multikino there is a Fitness club where you can practice aerobic and practice with your personal trainer. Next to many elementary schools and middle schools there are football pitches and basketball courts thanks to the organisation Orlik 2012. Bicycle paths – are a fun and nice active way of visiting Ursynow. The Ursynów district is known for its sport facilities and by a lot of places for active recreation. Shopping centers 1)Ursynów Gallery Ursynów Gallery is the largest shopping center in the Ursynów district. It is located directly at Natolin underground station. You can find there cloths and shoe stores, series shops and so on. 2)Centrum Ursynów The Centre Ursynów consists of several buildings. There are grocery stores (for example Real), hardware shops (Obi), fast food restaurants (McDonald’s), sport shops and even florist’s. Restaurants 1)Karpielówka It’s a two-level restaurant which is decorated in highlander style. Sometimes highland bands are playing during meals and you can sit there up late at night. 2)Melon restaurant If you want to eat something really different you can go there. It offers us international food so the choice is really big. There’s a possibility to go on the Internet too. Kabaczek 3)This restaurant offers delicious and tasty meals. It’s decorated in modern style and there is also a special place for children. In 2006 Kabaczek won the first price for the best pub on the Ursynów district. Cinema – Multikino Ursynów You can see there lots of new movies and the tickets are in keen prices. It’s located next to Imielin tube station, so it’s very easy to get there. Ursynów is the biggest and most populated district of Warsaw. It takes 8,6% of the Warsaw's area and 8,3% of it's populations. Ursynów has belonged to Warsaw since 1951 , but until 1994 it was part of the Mokotów district. Its names comes from the previous owner of the villages where Ursynów is located now Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz. He lived between the18th and 19th century. For most this district is considered as residental area so we can break it up into few neighbours. The biggest of them are: Wyczółki,Ursynów Północny,Stary Służew,Grabów,Stary Imielin,Ursynów Centrum,Jeziorki Północne,Pyry, Natolin,Kabaty,Jeziorki Południowe,Dąbrówka,Skarpa powiślańska and aspecial area theKabacki Forest.The main street in Ursynów is KEN-Komisji Edukacji Narodowej , but the largest is Puławska Street. Communication in this district is very easy because there are five metro stations and lot's of bus lines. In summary it's right to name Ursynów "Bedroom of Warsaw" THE END
