Frame Construction
The frame was fabricated using the aluminum extrusions defined in Table 2.

At each frame corner, the vertical frame member ran through while the horizontal frame
member end was square cut, butted and mechanically attached to the vertical member via an
aluminum shear block. The additional details of the corner construction are described in
Table 3.

Construction Details
A 124.9 mm (4.918") long shear block (Part # PTB49) was
attached to the horizontal frame member using two (2), #1024 x 3/4” SS PH screws (Part # S270) into the exterior of the
horizontal through the shear block screw splines. The shear
block was attached to the vertical frame member using two
(2), 1/4-20 x 1” HH Type D screws (Part # S328).
A 108.9 mm (4.288") long shear block (Part # PTB96C) was
attached to the horizontal frame member using two (2), #1024 x 3/4” SS PH screws (Part # S270) into the exterior of the
horizontal through the shear block screw splines. The shear
block was attached to the vertical frame member using two
(2), 1/4-20 x 1” HH Type D screws (Part # S328).
A 108.9 mm (4.288") long shear block (Part # PTB96C) was
attached to the horizontal frame member using two (2), #1024 x 3/4” SS PH screws (Part # S270) into the exterior of the
horizontal through the shear block screw splines. The shear
block was attached to the vertical frame member using two
(2), 1/4-20 x 1” HH Type D screws (Part # S328).

Joint Sealant
Each joint was sealed using Dow

Pressure Plate and Snap Cover Assembly
Table 4 provides the extrusions used in the pressure plate and snap cover assemblies. There was a
continuous rubber thermal barrier (Part # PTB94) between each pressure plate and the adjacent
frame member.

Glazing Materials
Glass Types GL1 through GL4 consisted of 25.4 mm (1”) thick (nominal) insulated glass
comprised of the following components:

12.7 mm (1/2”) air space

Glazing Method
The test specimen was exterior glazed. A 4.8 mm (3/16") thick EPDM setting block (Part #
P6550) was used at the intermediate horizontals and a 7.9mm (5/16") thick EPDM setting
block was used at the sill. Table 5 provides the interior and exterior glazing procedures
(typical) used in the test specimen.

Weather Stripping
An EPDM glazing gasket (Part # PTB28) slid into the raceway around the entire frame perimeter of
the specimen.

Drainage
Table 7 provides details of the drainage openings used in the test specimen. A weep baffle (Part #
PTB42) was used inside the horizontal pressure plate covers at each opening location.

Fastener Description
The locking nut (Part # P1267) was attached to the shear block with
two (2), 3/8-16 x 2" Type F (Part # S218) and drilled for pipe sleeve
(Part # P2028) clearance. One (1), 3/8-16 x 2-1/2” HH screw with
the pipe sleeve attached through the shear block to the opening.
One (1), 3/8-16 x 2-1/2” HH screw and locking nut (Part # P1267)
attached through the shear block to the opening.

Conclusion
Architectural Testing, Inc. observed a measured air infiltration less than the allowed air
infiltration through the test specimen; as such, the test specimen satisfies the requirements
of ASTM E283.

Conclusion
Architectural Testing, Inc. observed zero (0) water infiltration through the innermost plane
of the test specimen; as such, the test specimen satisfies the requirements of ASTM E331.
Uniform Static Load Test
9.3.1

Ambient Conditions
The temperature range during the uniform static load test was 84°F to 88°F.

Results
Tables 13 and 14 provide the positive and negative uniform static load test results,
respectively. The results are for the deflection gage locations shown in Section 9.3.1. The
deflection reported is the overall deflection between three points (longest unsupported
span) which accounts for support movement.

Conclusion
Architectural Testing, Inc. observed no signs of failure in any area of the test specimen during
the uniform static load test; as such, the test specimen satisfies the uniform static load test
requirements of ASTM E330.
