Hunger, Obesity and Eating Disorders in New Mexico New Mexico Medical Society 316 Osuna Road NE | Suite 501 | Albuquerque NM 87107 505.828.0237 | Fax 505.828.0336 NMMS 129 ANNUAL MEETING th ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO | MAY 14 - 16, 2015 Welcome Welcome to the 129th annual meeting of the New Mexico Medical Society House of Delegates. I'm very excited about this year's annual meeting on May 14-16, 2015 at the Society's headquarters located at 316 Osuna Road NE, Suite 501 in Albuquerque. Thursday, May 14, kicks off the annual House of Delegates meeting at 12:15 p.m. with the meeting of the Council, open to all NMMS members. Breakfast and registration begins at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, May 15. The official call to order for the House of Delegates is at 8:30 a.m. Upon adjournment of the House, reference committees will meet to discuss the activities of the past year and debate resolutions being introduced this year. The continuing medical education activity fills the afternoon schedule. This year we focus on hunger in New Mexico as well as obesity. We are fortunate to have the Executive Director of Road Runner Food Bank kick off our program (please also consider supporting our food drive!). In a nation plagued by obesity, experts explore problems and solutions, from bariatric surgery, cardiovascular treatment and groundbreaking work of the effects of gastrointestinal microbiota on metabolic diseases to the latest methods of dealing with various eating disorders. As we all have to eat (!), I am sure will find our CME program informative and enlightening. An enjoyable evening awaits colleagues and their families at the presidential reception and buffet dinner at the ABQ BioPark Zoo from 5:30-8:00 p.m. There is no charge for the event and as dinner is provided, an RSVP by May 7th is required; parties are limited to ten guests. Saturday, May 16, brings everyone back together at 8:15 a.m. for a breakfast sponsored by Ardham Technonogies Inc. Business starts at 9:00 a.m. at the second House of Delegates which includes officer elections, voting on reports and motions, and the Presidential address. Please don't miss this opportunity to chart the course of the Medical Society and to visit with your peers and their families from around the state. It will be an experience to remember.
