Maritime Coastal Strip:
Great growth potential
El Salvador’s Marine Coastal Strip
Marine Costal Strip potential:
•
The country’s main logistics and strategic infrastructures
are located at the MCS: the International Airport and
the ports of Acajutla and La Union.
•
Location of the country’s main natural assets, valuable
for their landscaping features, high biodiversity and the
role they play in the reproduction of the fishing
resources, this assets are: Barra de Santiago, Cóbanos,
Jaltepeque Estuary, Jiquilisco Bay and La Union Bay.
•
MCS has 51% of the country’s best farmland, including
types I, II and III.
•
Investments in the MCS will incorporate the territorial
sea to the country’s productive and cultural life. The
territorial sea is equivalent to approximately four times
the size of national territory.
•
Great potential to exploit the productive and sustainable
capacity of the marine and coastal resources.
•
Moreover, in this territory there are currently 940
projects either in execution or scheduled to start between
2013 and 2014, promoted by Government institutions.
