To aid and nurture writers for the theater, to fund nonprofit theaters producing contemporary
American work, and to heighten awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country.

The Gala is the most critical fundraising event for the Dramatists Guild Fund, a
national nonprofit organization providing vital resources to writers, composers and
lyricists of theater.

Every year, the Dramatists Guild Fund:
•Nurtures 10-15 emerging playwrights, lyricists, and composers through
an immersive nine-month fellows program
•Grants emergency financial aid to over 30 writers in need
•Provides over 5,000 students and professionals with master classes in
writing at regional theaters and colleges
•Supports over 150 nonprofit theaters through grants to support new
American work, bringing theater to over 2 million audience members
•Provides a free rehearsal space for over 1,500 writers to create and
present new work
