Welcome to Shadowland’s
exciting 30th season!
Thanks to your support, we’ve managed to grow
into the premiere professional, Actors’ Equity theatre
in the region. To celebrate, we’re thrilled to announce
7 mainstage shows!
Our regular 5-show season is a blockbuster lineup.
We’ll have a rollicking good time in the country western
musical HONKY TONK HIGHWAY, roll with laughter
during UNNECESSARY FARCE, be surprised by
THREE VIEWINGS, enjoy the brilliant writing of the
TONY nominee GOOD PEOPLE, and admire the
strength of love in FALLING.
And we’re thrilled to announce two additional optional
shows: Our Spring Comedy will be the hilarious comedy
GREATER TUNA, and our Fall Musical is a fantastic review
of Broadway hits called SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM.
There is no better way to support the Shadowland than by
joining us as a subscriber. Subscribers save 20% off single
ticket prices- (essentially getting 1 show free!) - and start at
just $136 for 5 shows. And, if you wish, you can add either
(or both) the Spring Comedy and the Fall Musical for the
subscriber rate of $31 per ticket.
Or maybe you can join us with a donor level subscription
- donors get the best seats, free tickets for friends, playbill
listing and a tax-deduction!
So spread the word - Shadowland Theatre celebrates 30
years with a season of music, mayhem, mystery and mirth!

Good People
By David Lindsay-Abaire
Nominated for the TONY Award for best play,
this timely story explores the struggles,
shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that
come with having next to nothing in America.
A lifelong resident of a blue collar Boston neighborhood
loses her job. She looks up an old fling who made it
out of the neighborhood, and pursues him for some
assistance and, possibly, a fresh start. But the classes
collide, and old, unwelcome secrets are revealed in
this funny, timely and suspenseful play.
“David Lindsay-Abaire has crafted
another penetrating drama about deeply
relatable issues, albeit this time with
more warming doses of humor.”
—Hollywood Reporter.
“Wonderful! GOOD PEOPLE is poignant, brave
and almost subversive in its focus on what it
really means to be down on your luck.”
—NY Post
Rated: PG-13

Three Viewings
By Jeffrey Hatcher
This engaging play is three shows in oneall set in a Midwestern funeral parlor.
Through laughter, longing and surprise, three
stories interweave and reveal the lengths
people go to in order to hold onto memories,
love…and money.
Emil is a mild mannered undertaker with an unspoken
passion that must be proclaimed before it’s too late.
Mac is a drifter who makes a living stealing jewelry
from the deceased. And Virginia is the widow of a
wheeler-dealer contractor who’s left her in the lurch –
and in debt with everyone, including the mob…
“THREE VIEWINGS is essential viewing!”
– New York Magazine
“A powerful way to spend an evening!”
–San Francisco Weekly
“Hatcher achieves a wonderful balance between
comedy and tragedy- kind of like real life…”
–Broadway World.com

Unnecessary Farce
By Paul Slade Smith
Shadowland continues its string of successful farces with this regional premiere. Two
hotel rooms, eight doors and a crazy cast of
characters propel this crime-based comedy
to felonious levels of laughter.
Two rookie cops and the town’s pretty accountant
are trying to catch their embezzling mayor redhanded. But things aren’t quite as they seem,
and somebody’s hired an unusual hitman. The
undercover sting operation begins to unravel, and
explodes into a farce of very necessary laughs.
“The funniest two hours of theatre
I have seen in years!”
–Syracuse Post-Standard
“A farce this good ought to be a crime!”
–Chicago Tribune
“The laughter is literally relentless”
–Calgary Herald

& Killeen Insurance, and Candido & Maria Perez

Honky-Tonk Highway
Book by Richard Berg
Music, Lyrics and Additional
dialogue by Robert Lindsey Nassif
This foot-stomping country-western romp
was an Award-winning Off-Broadway hit.
There’s something for everyone in this
fantastic musical journey!
The time is 1970. We are at Tucker’s Roadhouse in
Alton Falls, Tennessee, where (fictional) legendary
country star Clint Colby’s rocket-ride-of-a-career began
twelve years ago. Clint’s former band, The Mountain
Rangers, has reunited tonight for a one-time-only
concert to perform Clint’s songs and to reminisce and
ruminate about the man they helped make famous.
“A new classic!”
–Chicago Tribune
“One of the most thoroughly enjoyable
evenings in town! Run, don’t walk!”
–Backstage

Falling
By Deanna Jent
This engaging play explores the dynamic and
complicated reality of a family with an autistic
young man. Semi-autobiographical, the play
bravely asks “How do you love someone
who is difficult to love?”
When a relative comes to visit, the Martin family is
thrown out of equilibrium and their essential, familiar
routine is thrown out of whack. For their autistic
son Josh, routine is paramount.
“This heartfelt and nuanced family
drama is shot through with dark humor.
FALLING soars…the play packs
a powerful punch.”
-New York Post
“Audiences will be falling in love with this
extraordinary piece of theatre.”

Spring Comedy!
Greater Tuna
By Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard
The long-running Off-Broadway hit features two
actors creating the entire population of Tuna,
Texas in a tour de force comic performance.
This scathing satire of small minds in a small town has been
an audience favorite for over 30 years. Starring Shadowland veterans Jim Ligon (Rounding Third, Rising Water) and
Michael Irvin Pollard (Ladies Man, Rounding Third).
“They’re portraying plenty of ‘good’ ol boys,’ but
both Jim Ligon and Michael Irvin Pollard emerge as
great ol’ boys in Greater Tuna.”
-The Star-Ledger
