Please Welcome
NEW MEMBERS
Steve and Amy
McCrannel. They
revived Tommy
and Iva Reed' s
Country Diner. In
honor of the two
ladies that were
fixtures in that
diner for more
years than Ican
recall. Iva and
Audie were the
wait staff at this
Bolton institution
for decades, the
new owners honor
them by calling
their diner IVA
AND AUDIE’S
COUNTRY DINER.
Stop by and see
for yourself what
an incredible job
Steve and Amy did
with the Country
Diner, I’m sure
Tommy and Iva
would be pleased.
LAKE DEFENDERS DOCUMENTARY
TO PREMIERE IN LAKE GEORGE
The first item I'd like you to be
aware of is the October dinner
meeting date will be changed to
October 23rd at the PUB ON 9.
Our October meeting is an election
meeting where you the membership
vote to install new directors. We
generally try to stay with the second
Tuesday of the month for our
meeting but there is a conflict with
an important event that none of us
should miss. On Tuesday Oct 9 ,
Lake Defenders film will be shown.
Mountain Lake PBS and Bright Blue EcoMedia have teamed up on a documentary to highlight the challenges of aquatic
invasive species management in the Lake George basin, titled “Lake Defenders”. A free public screening will be held at
the Sagamore in Bolton Landing at 6:30 pm on October 9th. A preview of the film is available online http://
www.mountainlake.org/programs/documentaries-and-specials/lake-defenders.html The film is a 30-minute special highlighting both the successes and mounting challenges of aquatic invasive species control in the ‘Queen of American
Lakes’, where citizens, scientists and nonprofit organizations have joined together to defend Lake George and its watershed. Invasives include Eurasian milfoil, zebra mussels, and Asian clam, the newest threat to Lake George ecology.
“The Lake George example is one that can serve as a model for thousands of communities across North America, communities that are struggling to conserve their lakes and resilience of their ecosystem and interdependent economies,”
said Jon Erickson of Bright Blue EcoMedia and University of Vermont professor.
The documentary is part of the educational mission of Mountain Lakes PBS, based in Plattsburgh, NY. “We're working
with the nonprofit Bright Blue to provide quality lifelong learning content and curriculum while also telling a local success story to a much wider audience,” according to Dan Swinton, Director of Production and Content at Mountain
Lake. Mountain Lake PBS will seek distribution throughout all of New York’s PBS stations.
A free public screening of “Lake Defenders” will take place on Oct 9 th at the Sagamore in Lake George at 6:30 pm. The
doors will open at 5:45 for hors d’ oeuvres. Following the film, Jon D. Erickson and Victor Guadagno of Bright Blue
EcoMedia will be on hand for a period of Q&A. A screening will also take place in Albany on October 25 th as part of the
New York State Museum’s Adirondack Day.
Prior to the film’s broadcast premiere on October 19th at 9 pm, Thom Hallock, the award-winning producer of Mountain Lake Journal, will feature a special round table discussion with Jon D. Erickson and Vic Guadagno of Bright Blue at 8
pm on Mountain Lake PBS.

Election Meeting
Our first item to attend to will be the replacement of three directors who will be stepping aside and two directors whose
term will expire. Rachel Zuckerman from Select Sotheby's International Real Estate has expressed an interest in a term of
1-2 years. The Chamber By-laws provide for the Board to appoint someone to fill a vacancy resulting from a Board member stepping down before the end of their 3 year term. Joe
DiNapoli, owner of Porter’s Cottages and Tyler Herrick, Assistant General Manager, at the Sagamore Hotel, director terms
are up and both have agreed to run again. We still have 2
openings: a 3 year term, a 2 year term. Joe and Tyler will be
included on a ballot at our October 23 dinner meeting. If you
are interested in serving your community at the chamber
please contact Elaine so we can meet with you to discuss the
role and responsibilities of being a Chamber Director
2012 Auction
I love Kenny's comment, he
didn't know why Bolton did
better this year! We have
worked hard to create and
polish our image. Our
efforts are paying off! To

Again a HUGE
THANKS to Wauneata
for Girl Friend's and a
HUGE THANKS to
Kelly for the
encampment. These are
big events and people
noticed. .
I want to thank everyone who contributed to our auction making it a big success.
A huge thanks also to all of you that bid on all the many products. Our auction
this year was perhaps one of our best attended in some time. Andy Pratt our auctioneer and entertainer once again turned in a wonderful performance making
the night very memorable. As always Tom Guay and his staff put on a five star
presentation for our group with culinary delights fit for the rich and famous,
thanks Tom. As always all monies raised go right back in to marketing Bolton
Landing giving all of us an additional dividend. again, THANK YOU.
Huge “pat on the back” Bolton
A recent survey of hotels, motels and campgrounds by Warren County Occupancy Tax Coordination Committee, asking them
to gauge the impact of events by the number of guests they attract, again found Americade to be the runaway top event.
The annual motorcycle rally has finished first every year the survey has been done.
Adirondack Balloon Festival followed in second place and Adirondack Nationals Car Show third.
After those stalwarts, though, the results showed some unexpected names.
Girlfriends Getaway weekend in Bolton came in fourth, with other lesser-known events such as Crossroads French and Indian
War re-enactment, Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum concerts and Up Yonda Farm in Bolton garnering enough votes to be
considered in the top 10 as judged by lodging establishments.
The survey is done to help members of the Occupancy Tax Coordination Committee understand how well-attended events
are, as they mull the awarding of promotional funding for them each year.
“It’s one of the tools we use when we determine funding,” said William Kenny, the Glens Falls 5th Ward supervisor who
chairs the committee.
Kenny said he did not know why Bolton events did better this year.

As always please remember our directors meetings are on the first
Tuesday of each month. The meeting time is either 9am or 3pm. We
do switch it around to accommodate directors schedules.
Any member is always welcome to sit in and we are always looking
for your input and new ideas and volunteers to bring those ideas to
life. Volunteers can be anyone interested in assisting the Chamber;
they do not need to be members.
Please always remember, we work for YOU.
Hope to see you at the Sagamore on the 9th., and at Pub on 9 on
the 23rd.
