DOLNIOBLASTVITKOVICE DOLNIVITKOVICE.CZ #DOLNIOBLASTVITKOVICE DOV presents Who are we? Dolní Vítkovice - an association of legal entities, was founded in 2007 with the aim of opening up its urban industrial heritage. The project's main goal is the redevelopment of the Dolní Vítkovice site (where coal was mined and crude iron was produced between 1828 and 1998) but also the neighbouring mine Hlubina, the mining museum in Landek Park and the industrial building Trojhalí Karolina (the chief). The brains behind these projects are Jan Světlík, a chief of Vítkovice engineering together with Josef Pleskot and his AP Atelier studio, who is in charge of architectural coordination. What do we do? With the help of numerous public institutions, members, partners and teammates we take areas that were once throbbing with heavy machinery and turn them into places throbbing with life. Excursions by experts and enthusiasts take the skip hoist to the Blast Furnace 1. Expert conferences, seminars, vocational and educational debates, cultural and social gatherings take place in the former gasholder turned into an auditorium Gong. School trips or families vi- Colophon: 02I DOV sit the World of Technology for entertaining animation programmes, visitors to Landek Park ride the same railway through the very pit where miners once toiled. What is our goal? To set up and run a unique trans-regional, educational, cultural and social centre open every day to all, whether small, old or young, local or from far away, nursery school toddlers, university students or foreign tourists; with the capacity and top facilities to host giant congresses and international conferences; where suburb events will attract families and friends. The Hlubina Mine, the coke plant and the blast furnaces made up a unique complex - from coal mining through the processing plant to the production of crude iron, the only of its kind in Europe.
