Get to Know AWMV Industrial Products There is no doubt Wood-Mizer is one of the most recognized and visible names in the portable sawmill industry. This reputation is a result of perseverance and hard work. AWMV is driven to command the same presence in the commercial sawmill market. Whether it is the equipment, company, or people, two things are for sure: AWMV is strong and solid. 2-4 Paul Bunyan Show Cambridge, OH October 2009 Who is AWMV? AWMV is a division of Wood-Mizer Products, Inc. and focuses on industrial solutions for business applications. Although Wood-Mizer has manufactured industrial machines since 1991, the name AWMV was introduced in 2004 to differentiate our portable mills from the larger, stationary mills, resaws, edgers and log handling equipment. Bottom Line – AWMV manufactures machines that make you money. Our entire line is designed to reduce capital costs, labor costs, material costs, energy costs, and maintenance costs, while producing lumber with amazing effectiveness. Well, inside the walls of Wood-Mizer, AWMV stands for “Another Wood-Mizer Vision” but to the industry and our customers we are simply AWMV. Bottom Line – Just call us AWMV. How is AWMV the same as Wood-Mizer? More than 25 years ago, Wood-Mizer revolutionized the sawmill industry with thin-kerf technology and our cantilever design, changing the way people sawed logs into lumber. That commitment to innovation continues today. Whether you are a Wood-Mizer or AWMV customer, you are backed by the industry’s best research and development, engineering, technical support, and customer service people. Bottom Line – We are the same company dedicated to innovation and customer satisfaction. How is AWMV different than Wood-Mizer? There are some simple answers: AWMV equipment is green and stationary, while Wood-Mizer is orange and portable. More importantly, though, AWMV is all about business. We know you don’t buy an industrial machine to pursue a dream project, woodworking hobby, or side income. You buy it to produce greater lumber output and profit. Bottom Line – AWMV makes industrial machines and systems to support your business. What can AWMV do for me? AWMV knows how to use thin-kerf, narrow-band technology to maximize profits for your business. Our entire line is designed to reduce your costs for labor, blades, energy, and maintenance. Whether you need a single machine or a complete sawmill system, we have solutions that will enhance your operation and take your sawing to the next level. Bottom Line – AWMV can reduce your costs and maximize your profitability. 8180 W. 10th Street Indianapolis , IN 46214 by Wood-Mizer by Wood-Mizer 1.800.522.5705 • www.AWMV.com Strong. Solid. s s s NEW PROFILE s s s LT300 Owners: Equipment Extra Customer Corner Keeping An Eye Toward the Future It’s the Future...If you haven’t heard about AWMV’s new 4250SCH, now is a great time to get introduced. This high-production bandmill combines a traveling, thin-kerf sawhead with a stationary log carriage. The way it works is simple: the log carriage (built by Cleerman Industries) remains stationary while the 17 degree slanted sawhead moves back and forth through the log. Featuring a 50HP motor and 42” bandwheels, it offers highspeed processing, high yields, and low operating costs. The 4250SCH is equipped to process logs up to 42” in diameter and 18 feet long. The 4250SCH utilizes a thin-kerf, 2” wide bandsaw blade. Other features include a shock-absorbing conveyor for boards, slabs, and cants; and a conventional AC drive cable/drum that moves the sawhead using only 20HP. It can run as the primary headrig, a grade saw, a long log saw, or as a supplement to a breakdown line. Not only is it flexible, the 4250SCH reduces operating costs, produces high yields and ultimately provides higher profits. Give us a call and let’s talk about how the 4250SCH can help take your business to the next level with maximum output at minimum cost. This is a machine that will make you money. The new LT300 Pantograph replaces the traditional cat-track (cable carrier) system by running the cables overhead rather than along the bed. The NEW Pantograph is a money saving upgrade that eliminates maintenance costs involved with the cat-track. Existing owners who have moved up to the Pantograph love it! You can upgrade your LT300 or order a new LT300 with this great option. Cables flex less on a pantograph resulting in longer cable life. Ask About Special Pricing On Our Demo Unit! Jason Smith - Westbury Lumber Company, is a classic example of a business that has achieved success. Jason grew up working in the woods with his father and saw the challenges of a logging lifestyle first-hand. Jason was drawn to the lumber side of the business and earned his grading certification from the NHLA. While working as a grader at a large hardwood mill, Jason’s interest shifted from analyzing the lumber to sawing it. In the early ‘90’s, Jason started his own business with a mere $250 in his pocket. Over the course of several years, Jason’s sawing business experienced steady growth. He was hiring people and running multiple shifts to get the work done. Like every good business owner, Jason had a plan to take his operation to the next level and he purchased an AWMV LT300 headrig along with two sets of three-way conveyors and an E430 edger. A few years later he added a second LT300 to further increase his production. Even through the tough economic conditions of today, Jason has continued to employ several people at his Red Creek, New York, location and keep his eye toward the future. When AWMV introduced the new 4250 Stationary Carriage Headrig, Jason was intrigued by the technology. Recently, he traveled to AWMV’s headquarters in Indiana to “test drive” the new 4250 Headrig and was having so much fun, Mike had to convince him to stop and grab some lunch.
