During the 11 festival days, fans will enjoy performances from more than 800 artists, including The Rolling Stones, Florida Georgia Line, Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band, and Stevie Wonder. Established in 1968 and drawing an annual attendance of nearly one million fans, Summerfest is now hosted at the 75-acre Henry Maier Festival Park. CSC will be providing services including crowd management, overnight security coverage, and gate security. Summerfest has been a CSC client since 2009, and services are provided under the direction of Bill Wesley, Director of Security, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. (MWF) and Ron Hansen, Transit Coordinator, Coach USA Company. Golden State Warriors Take NBA Title OAKLAND, CA - The CSC team congratulates the Golden State Warriors on their championship victory, winning the series 4-2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. CSC’s Northern California branch recently partnered with Oracle Arena, operated by AEG Facilities and the Golden State Warriors, to provide event security, guest services, ushering and other services for the Golden State Warriors’ 2014-15 season. Branch Manager, Chris Armstrong, and Assistant Branch Manager, Marlon Gonzalez, would like to recognize two key CSC Event Managers, Andrew Young and Valery Laxamana, who helped CSC build a successful partnership with the AEG Oakland staff at Oracle Arena. Through their incredible leadership and hard work, Valery and Andrew went above and beyond the call of duty during CSC’s first year of operations at Oracle Arena. Oracle Arena Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas Motor Speedway LAS VEGAS, NV - Welcoming over 130,000 music fans each day, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) was held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, June 19-21, for the fifth consecutive year. Hosted by Insomniac Events, EDC Las Vegas headliners included Avicci, Calvin Harris, Matin Garrix, Tiesto, and Alesso. CSC Las Vegas teamed up with the Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, and San Diego branches to staff over 670 employees daily. CSC’s services, which included searches, bicycle patrol teams, 24-hour security coverage, perimeter security, eviction teams, and artist tunnel entry security, were provided under the direction of Insomniac’s Senior Director of Operations, Justin Spagg, Director of Security, Fernando “Shrek” Helwig, and Production Manager, Steven Howard. CAOS Conference MAUSTON, WI - The 12th Annual Collegiate Athletic Operations Services (CAOS) Conference was held June 17-20 at Woodside Ranch Resort and Conference Center in Mauston, WI. The conference is uniquely dedicated to the exchange of information, ideas, and real-life experiences of collegiate athletic operations managers. Sponsored by CSC, CAOS’s annual conference promotes professional development within collegiate athletic operations and serves as a great opportunity for representatives to attend information sessions, share ideas, and gain insight into current trends and best practices. Other sponsors of CAOS include BearCom, Kollege Town Sports, Mesirow Financial, ProtaTECH, and Zurich North America. This year’s conference had representatives present from over 20 universities. Woodside Ranch Resort and Conference Center Guest speakers included Michele Stuart, JAG Investigations Inc. Private Investigator, who presented on the use of social media at public facilities and concerns from a security standpoint; Mark Camillo, CSC Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning, who presented on the issue of drones as it relates to hosting athletic events; and Paul McDermott, CSC Orange County Branch Manager, who presented on how his experience at the Disney Institute has assisted him in identifying areas for improvement in guest services. “CAOS 2015 featured top speakers in the collegiate athletic events industry and topics that spawned great discussions. Mark your calendar for next year’s conference from June 14-17, 2016 at Woodside Ranch in Mauston, Wisconsin!” - Zach Eckert Associate Director of Athletic Facilities & Operations, West Virginia University CAOS Organizing Committee Conference Chairman Dover International Speedway Partnership Dover International Speedway DOVER, DE - CSC Philadelphia is pleased to announce its three-year contract with Dover International Speedway, nicknamed the “Monster Mile” and known as the world’s fastest one-mile concrete oval. Since opening in 1969, Dover International Speedway has annually hosted NASCAR events and has welcomed countless fans to its 750-acre complex. The speedway recently hosted a tripleheader NASCAR race weekend, May 29-31, with events including “Lucas Oil 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, “Buckle Up 200” presented by Click It or Ticket NASCAR XFINITY Series race, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The speedway will host its second tripleheader NASCAR race weekend, October 2-4. Dover International Speedway also hosts other large events including Firefly Music Festival and Big Barrel Country Music Festival; both of which CSC provides event services for during June. Services are provided for Dover international Speedway under the direction of Ed Klima, Senior Director of Public Safety and Track Operations, and Jim Hosfelt, Security Manager. GSU Ambassadors ATLANTA, GA - CSC currently provides Ambassador services for both the University of Southern California, a client since 2009, and Georgia State University (GSU). CSC Atlanta has partnered with GSU since 2012, working in conjunction with campus police and local law enforcement agencies to provide an extra layer of safety on campus. Known as the GSU Panther Ambassadors, CSC’s team operates year round with ambassadors stationed at various posts throughout campus to help ensure the safety of students, faculty, and guests. CSC utilizes golf carts, bicycle patrol units, and guards stationed at the dormitories. Additionally, there are operating procedures in place to assist local police and Georgia State University housing departments with evacuations, fire drills, and other emergencies. CSC’s services for GSU are provided under the direction of Jerry Rackliffe, GSU Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration, Beth Jones, GSU Associate Vice President of Finance and Administration, Christy Stark, GSU Project Manager of Finance and Administration, and Noel Rivera, CSC’s GSU Panther Ambassador Manager. Governors Ball NYC Music Festival NEW YORK CITY, NY - CSC New York City provided services for Governors Ball Music Festival, held June 5-7 at Randall’s Island Park. The three-day music festival had a sellout attendance of 150,000 fans and featured artists including Lana Del Rey, Drake, Florence and the Machine, The Black Keys. Established in 2011, Governors Ball has become one of the most anticipated music festivals in New York. CSC’s services were provided under the direction of Ross Hollman, Chief Executive Officer of SHO Services, and Christy Feener, Vice President of National Event Services. Randall’s Island Park Dot Party Los Angeles 2015 LOS ANGELES, CA - Dot Party, known as .party(), is an event series created by Notch, the inventor of Minecraft, and produced by Production Club. Launching his first event in 2012, Notch hosted the sixth Dot Party June 16 at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which featured Skrillex, Jack Ü, and DJ Snake. Notch created an unforgettable musical and visual experience for 2,500 fans by importing the world’s largest fully inflatable dome from India to Los Angeles. CSC provided crowd management and security services for this exclusive event under the direction of Vivek Srinivasan, .party() Executive Producer of Production Club Los Angeles. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Health & Wellness Spotlight: Ben Durbin DES MOINES, IA - Ben Durbin began his CSC career in 2013 after graduating from Iowa State University with a Masters in Higher Education. While attending Iowa State, Ben was a member of the football team. Currently serving as an Event Manager for CSC’s Des Moines branch, Ben oversees all crowd management services for Iowa State University track & field, basketball, and football. Ben also works closely with the Iowa State Student Union Board to develop crowd management plans for various on-campus concerts. Ben recently competed in a qualifier for the USA Wrestling World Team Trials and pinned his opponent in the first round match. Unfortunately, Ben suffered three broken ribs during this match, but he intends to make a full recovery and will compete again in the 2016 Olympic trials. Ben trains under coach Trent Paulson, a former NCAA National Champion, US Open Champion, and World Team Member. “I have to get out of my comfort zone and compete with the best; this is the most tradition-rich and toughest sport known to man, and I want to see where I stack up. I’ve got nothing to lose, except that if I hadn’t attempted this feat, then I would lose everything.” - Ben Durbin CSC Des Moines Event Manager Hollywood Bowl Partnership Hollywood Bowl HOLLYWOOD, CA - CSC is pleased to announce its three-year contract renewal with the Hollywood Bowl, the largest natural amphitheater in the United States. One of CSC’s longest running partnerships, the world-renowned Hollywood Bowl has been named Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue during the annual Pollstar Awards Ceremony for the past eleven years. With a seating capacity of over 17,000, the Hollywood Bowl annually hosts a variety of world-class musical acts and performances. Hosted at the Napa Valley Expo May 29-31, BottleRock featured headliners including Robert Plant, No Doubt, Snoop Dogg, the Avett Brothers, and Imagine Dragons. Known not only for its music, but also for great food and drinks, the festival had many local restaurants, breweries, wineries, and food trucks on-site, along with a culinary stage featuring celebrity chefs. Napa Valley Expo CEFMA, NACDA, & Wounded Warrior Project ORLANDO, FL - This month, CSC sponsored both the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) conventions in Orlando, FL. NACDA provides educational and networking opportunities for those in the field of athletics administration, and CEFMA is dedicated to educational programs and professional development to enhance event and facility management. Together, the two conventions promote growth, leadership, integrity, and the success of professionals and administrators involved in collegiate athletics. NACDA is also a proud partner of The Wounded Warrior Project, a service organization that supports wounded veterans. CSC Orlando team member, Nicky Bond, is a former United States Army Scout and a Purple Heart recipient who was injured in 2007 while serving in Iraq. Nicky was honored during this year’s NACDA Wounded Warrior Project reception. “Wounded Warrior Project has helped me tremendously.They’ve provided me assistance with finding a job, the training needed for the job, and many other things.
