ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas Contest The local winner in Madison’s “ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas Contest” was officially announced this spring. Emily Miller of Staunton (shown in the photo above) was the winner of a 40” Samsung LCD TV. Emily was contacted in early March by ABC Family Network to provide verification information. Within two weeks, her new television set had been delivered to her home! According to Emily, she “never wins anything,” so she was very pleasantly surprised to receive the call about her reward. Madison is pleased to have been a co-sponsor of this sweepstakes which offered a $25,000 grand prize to the national winner. For details on upcoming contests sponsored by Madison, refer to our new website located at gomadison.com. Madison’s annual contest invites area residents to nominate a favorite teacher from one of the school districts residing in our service area. Qualified candidates taught during the 2010-2011 school year and demonstrated a significant contribution to the improvement of students’ lives and learning during the year. All nominations had to be submitted by March 22 to be considered. This year, there were a total of eight teachers nominated. The two teachers who received the highest number of online votes by 4:00 p.m. on April 21, 2011, each received a $500 cash prize and plaque, and will be featured in next year’s television commercial which promotes the annual contest. Students from each winning teacher’s homeroom class also received a free pizza party compliments of Madison. The cash award will be used for student advancement projects within each instructor’s school discrict. Madison would like to thank all participants in this year’s contest. The 2012 competition will be officially launched January 1 of next year.
