FIELD & WORKSHOP SERVICES
Quimex offers specialized service expertise for reciprocating gas engines, compressors,
their control systems and ancillary equipment. As official distributors for leading
manufacturers, we are devoted to providing active support to our customers.
Our workshop repair and exchange capabilities complement our OEM spare parts
offering. At Quimex/Exterran’s various shop locations, we repair and overhaul
complete engines, cylinder heads, compressor valves, turbochargers, water & oil
pumps, and other auxiliary systems. We also offer exchange or rotation programs,
to ensure that critical units are ready for use at all times. These workshop services
provide a reliable, cost-effective alternative to buying new components or engines,
and are used as standard by Exterran, who operate the largest fleet of reciprocating
gas engines and compressors worldwide.
In the field, our OEM-certified technicians provide customers with decades of
cumulated experience over millions of horsepower of equipment. In addition to the
troubleshooting and repair of various mechanical, controls or design issues, we offer
reliability-focused technical advisory services, installation and commissioning support,
planned maintenance and overhaul services, turn-key equipment modernization
capabilities, and the option of operating customer equipment with an availability
guarantee.

As an official Waukesha distributor, Quimex can offer engines and generator sets from 250
kWe to 3MWe.

GTI - BIFUEL SYSTEM
The GTI Bi-Fuel System distributed by Quimex offers an affordable and efficient means of
operating industrial diesel engines utilizing both diesel and natural gas (or other available
gas) as fuel sources. This innovative, patented system, which requires no modifications to the
engine, allows for operation on natural gas up to a maximum of 70% of the fuel required to
maintain the desired speed and load, subject to gas quality and other application conditions.

The GTI Bi-Fuel System operates by blending both diesel fuel and natural gas in the combustion
chamber. This is achieved using a fumigated gas-charge design, whereby natural gas is premixed with engine intake-air and delivered to the combustion chamber via the air-intake
valve. The air-gas mixture is ignited when the diesel injector sprays a reduced quantity of
diesel fuel into the chamber.
This diesel “pilot” acts as the ignition source for the primary air-gas combustible mixture.
Because the Bi-Fuel System utilizes the OEM air-intake and diesel injection systems, no internal
engine modifications are required for installation.
