Worshiping together brings strength and joy:
“When we think of the chameleon, we probably think of its ability to change color according to its surroundings. But this lizard has another interesting characteristic. On several
occasions I’ve watched a chameleon walk along a pathway and wondered how it ever
reached its destination. Reluctantly, the chameleon stretches out one leg, seems to
change its mind, attempts again, and then carefully plants a hesitant foot, as if afraid
the ground will collapse under it. That was why I couldn’t help laughing when I heard
someone say, “Do not be a chameleon church member who says, ‘Let me go to church
today; no, let me go next week; no, let me wait for a while!’” “The house of the Lord” at
Jerusalem was King David’s place of worship, and he was far from being a “chameleon”
worshiper. Rather, he rejoiced with those who said, “Let us go to the house of the Lord”
(Psalm 122: 1). The same was true for believers in the early church. “They devoted
themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to
prayer. . . . Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts” (Acts 2: 42,
46). What a joy it is to join with others in worship and fellowship! Praying and worshiping
together, studying the Scriptures together, and caring for one another are essential for
our spiritual growth and unity as believers." —Lawrence Darmani
Utterly abandoned to the Holy Ghost!
Seeking all His fullness at whatever cost;
Cutting all the shore-lines, launching in the
deep
Of His mighty power--strong to save and keep.
Utterly abandoned to the Holy Ghost!
Oh! the sinking, sinking, until self is lost!
Until the emptied vessel lies broken at His feet;
Waiting till His filling shall make the work complete.
Utterly abandoned to the will of God;
Seeking for no other path than my Master trod;
Leaving ease and pleasure, making Him my
choice,
Waiting for His guidance, listening for His voice.
Utterly abandoned! no will of my own;
For time and for eternity, His, and His alone;
All my plans and purposes lost in His sweet will,
Having nothing, yet in Him all things possessing
still.
Utterly abandoned! 'tis so sweet to be
Captive in His bonds of love, yet so wondrous
free;
Free from sin's entanglements, free from doubt
and fear,
Free from every worry, burden, grief or care.
Utterly abandoned! oh, the rest is sweet,
As I tarry, waiting, at His blessed feet;
Waiting for the coming of the Guest divine,
Who my inmost being shall perfectly refine.
Lo! He comes and fills me, Holy Spirit sweet!
I, in Him, am satisfied! I, in Him, complete!
And the light within my soul shall nevermore
grow dim
While I keep my covenant--abandoned unto
Him!

Prayer to start your day
Heavenly Father,
“Thank you for this beautiful day that you
have made. I thank you Father that I slept
last night and woke up this morning.
I
understand Lord, that I have not woken up by
my power, nor my might or by my alarm
clock. But that it is by your grace that I’ve
been given another day in this world. I ask
Lord that you order my steps today; I ask that
the Holy Spirit guide my thoughts, words
and deeds. As I go into the world today Lord,
I pray that my light shall shine before men,
may they see my good works and glorify
you, Father. May I be filled with the fruits
of the Spirit as I interact with people today
and let everything I do today be done with
love. As much as depends on me, I will live
peaceably with all men today; I will
acknowledge you in all my ways and you
will direct my paths. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.”

Notes from
UUMC Music Ministries
The re-scheduled Choir Banquet is coming! We picked Wednesday, June the 1st at 6:00
(this will be in place of
Cornerstone), as the date for our banquet. Tickets will go on sale next Sunday, and you may purchase your ticket from
Pam Fulkerson, Pam Ayres, Audrey Voigt, Josh White, or the church office. The cost of the ticket to the banquet is $10.
I am happy to announce that several members or our choir and orchestra are in the upcoming production of
"Oklahoma" , hosted by the Wichita Falls Community Orchestra. The WFCO is directed by our church accompanist,
Rachel Kapelski. We will feature some of the music from Oklahoma in our banquet, as well as delicious food and fun
entertainment. Since we had to cancel our original date, we have had plenty of time to make this an even more fabulous
event. You will not want to miss this! Also, do not miss Oklahoma, which will be performed at Akin Auditorium (right
across the street from our Sanctuary) on May 27 and 28 at 7:00. Admission for Oklahoma is free.
