Some clubs meet for a rally drive, have lunch, talk cars, and go home. Other clubs emphasize track days, or possibly
racing. Our club, the Jaguar Drivers’ Club, Area 51 (JDC51) tends toward road trips to interesting and fun places
combined with fine dining and excellent camaraderie. Sure, we do love a good Concours and an occasional technical
session, but we are social drivers first and foremost. At our social events, car shows, Concours, track days, and tech
sessions, we make new friends, learn new things, and have experiences that create lifetime memories.
I thought I knew a lot about cars when I joined JDC51. But through
the club I became exposed to new ways to look at cars in
general and Jaguars in particular. Other members bring a
broad spectrum of experiences and ideas about old and
new Jaguars, fun things to do, and fun places to go. I have
become more of a fan of the marque, if that is possible.
April of 2013 brought two new and thoroughly enjoyable
events: a first-time trip to a Saddlebred horse farm, then an
early morning trip to Lexington and Three Chimneys Farm
for the introduction of the Jaguar F-Type, followed by the
Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event sponsored by Land Rover,
the other half of Jaguar Land Rover USA.
Once again, Bill and Sue Hall organized and provided splendid
vision and leadership for the Saddlehorse farm trip, followed by
the short drive to Claudia Sanders’ Dinner House for a
delightful luncheon. A week later, Greg Huelsman pulled the
club together for a splendid turnout to see, and hear, the
delicious and exotic Jaguar F-Type. Zowie!
While April was a transitional month, May began the process of Concours preparation, with Bill Long’s JCNA Judging
School on the 11th followed by Ann and Roger Lawson’s sponsorship of a road trip to Elizabethtown airport, the Swope
Auto Museum, and Tony York’s on Main, all on the 18th.
Next up was the Concours d’Élégance on June 1st, our biggest event of the year. Details follow!
I hope to see you and your Jaguars at the September 4th dinner meeting. Come early and let’s visit.
See you soon, Walt …

Annual General Meeting (AGM) Reports
from Dallas / Fort Worth
March 21-23, 2013
AGM Report of Club Delegates Wayne and Judy Miller
By Wayne and Judy Miller
We had a good trip to Dallas in Wayne’s Jaguar XJ, in spite of a detour on
I-40, which was closed tight in Arkansas. We arrived Friday afternoon
and checked into the host
hotel. In the evening we
toured Cowboy Stadium
and then dined at a
nearby country club
with other JCNA folks.
car, the F-Type. It
was nifty looking,
but rather blocky
compared to the
sleek 1966 E-Type
sitting next to it.
One clever thing
about the F-type is
that the top serves
as its own cover
when folded – very
compact and lightweight.
On Saturday morning
the Annual General
Meeting began at 8:00
a.m. and we were there!
About 60 delegates
attended, representing
64 different Jaguar Clubs.
We attended the dinner and awards banquet, sitting at a table with some
nice folks from Dallas. However, Wayne’s lunch did not agree with him
so he went to bed while Judy stayed to ‘represent the club’. The awards
ceremony followed dinner, and we won the coveted “Came all the way
from Floyds Knobs” award. Wayne felt fine the next morning, so we lay
around the hotel 'til noon, and then went to visit relatives in Richardson.
We spent the day (and night) with them, heading for home on Monday
morning. We took a big detour around the closed section of I40 between
Little Rock and Memphis, and saw a part of Arkansas (rice fields, I
think) that neither of us has seen before, and the driving was easy and
pleasant. Hardly any traffic, too.
We voted on changes to the bylaws and to the Concours rules and the
slalom rules. Judy was a delegate too (2 votes per club).
The big item of contention concerned the number of judges a club must
have (in its membership) in order to hold a Concours. Presently the
number is five (5), but the people concerned with the increasing
number of Perfect Scores proposed that increasing the number to eight
(8) would somehow solve the problem. Well sir, there was spirited
discussion, with some small clubs saying they couldn’t meet those
numbers, and others who thought that the proposed solution was not
optimal, or even ‘good’.
It was Cold
and Windy the
whole trip.
Snow flurries
between
Nashville and
Louisville.
Arrived home
about 5pm
Tuesday,
where it was
Cold but not
Windy.
The ensuing
voting was
also spirited,
and was
repeated
several times
in order to
account for
the delegates
who also held
proxies. It was
not clear to us
whether this
grand idea
passed or failed, so watch your Jaguar Journal for the result!
The Jaguar ran fine – except for a dragging rear brake. I saw another Jag
just like mine, same color, same year, in the AGM hotel parking lot.
Lucky people!
Judy and Wayne Miller
The meeting broke for lunch at noon, reconvened about 12:45 p.m.,
and ended at 2:30 p.m. There were some seminars but we took a nap. At
6:00 p.m. a cocktail hour featured a showing of the new Jaguar sports

AGM Report Selections
from Bob Matejek, NC Regional Director
By Bob Matejek, JAGM
… Saturday was the
AGM. At the BOD
meeting, the
discussion was very
involved as to whether
the regional Directors
and Chief Judges
would be required to
have e-mail communication capabilities. It flew through on Saturday.
Members at Large (MAL) are eligible for a regional award in the region
where they live or the region that they choose when they become a MAL.
The minimum number of certified judges in a club, required to get
sanctioning is being increased from 5 to 8 in 2014. The average among

Gary Kincel was re-elected as NC Regional Director for the coming 2
years. Dick Maury and George Camp were re-elected as President and
Vice President of JCNA for the coming year.
Judges can be borrowed from other clubs. The goal is to improve the
overall judging standards. This proposal passed to increase the number
of certified judges to 8.
The Andrew Whyte Service Award was presented to George Camp of the
Jaguar Society of South Carolina.
Protests will be accepted within 30 days after receipt of the score sheet
rather than 45 days after the event.
With great efforts to control the income and expenses of JCNA, the
national club operated through 2012 in the black, prior to the dues
increase coming in for 2013. The dues increase is still needed to replace
the reserves that were spent over the past few years.
The Fred Horner Sportsmanship Award was presented to Cameron
Sheahan and Carolyn Arnquist of Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon for
participating in 11 sanctioned JCNA car events.
A new Concours Class #22 was added for the new F Type. A proposal
will be presented at the Fall BOD meeting to reduce the number of
classes by combining some classes together.
The Dealership of the Year was presented to Royal Jaguar Land Rover of
Tucson.

AGM Report Selections
from Dennis Eklof, JANE
By Dennis Eklof, JANE (Jaguar Association of New England) Delegate
Gus Niewenhous and I were JANE’s delegates to the 2013 JCNA AGM in
Dallas on March 22 and 23. This article will not go into gory details on
all the resolutions that were passed. Rather, the intent here is to capture
the highlights and tragedies of the weekend.
afternoon when he suffered a severe stroke. He was life-flighted from the
hotel to a hospital. The sad events of his being stricken certainly cast a
pall over the meeting for the entire Dallas club and for all the attendees.
Unfortunately, subsequent events were even worse -- Tom passed away
on Sunday morning. We all offer our condolences to his family and the
entire Dallas club.
I want to first start with the tragedies. The President of the Dallas host
club, Tom McGrath, was helping with the registration desk on Thursday
9
The Dallas club deserves a lot of kudos for stepping into the void left
when the Mexico City event was canceled last August. Despite the limited
preparation time, and the trauma of Tom’s stroke, the Dallas folks put
on a first class event. Our hats go off to them for their efforts.
 There has always been confusion over pin striping, and this is one
area where local interpretation has been widespread. The new judging
guide has a detailed table on what is considered by JCNA to be
authentic.
My Main Takeaways
The rules regarding modifications required to enter a car in S3 class
were tightened. This was in response to incidents in the past where
superficially modified cars were entered in the Special classes to avoid
the more intense competition in the Champion and Driven classes.
There are lots of details below about the specifics of the meeting in the
subsequent sections, but for me the main takeaways from the AGM
were:
Given the profusion of permanently installed navigation systems in
newer cars, and the falling prices of aftermarket GPS systems and smart
phones with navigation, GPS devices will now be allowed in JCNAsanctioned rallies.
 Limited attendance: There were only 56 delegates present out of an
eligible 126 from the 63 JCNA clubs. In all fairness to the Dallas club,
they had little time to plan and promote the event, but it is
nonetheless a wake-up call for our 2014 JCNA planning, and a signal
that much attention is needed on a national level to increase club
participation.
 JCNA is turning serious attention to membership programs and to
Concours judging inconsistencies. It is certainly needed and welcome
in both areas.
 JANE is now the largest club in JCNA, and we can all be proud of being
part of making JANE such an active, successful, and most
importantly, fun club while many other JCNA clubs are struggling.
In a modest move toward the 21st century, JCNA Directors must now be
active email users.
While JCNA membership increased modestly in 2012, it had declined
significantly for several years through 2011, so there is an ongoing
concern over membership. The recent strengthening of the JCNA
Membership Committee and JANE member Ed Avis’s addition to the
Passport to Service program (see awards section below) are moves in
the right direction. JANE is fortunate to be growing, and we are now
clearly the largest club in North America.
Friday Social Event
Some clubs seem to have opened their membership to individuals who
are not required to be JCNA members. This is now explicitly prohibited
in the JCNA bylaws.
The Friday social evening was a tour of Cowboys Stadium, and one had
to be impressed with its vast size and opulent clubs and other facilities.
Our tour guide said we had walked about 1 ½ miles during the tour.
Saturday Awards Banquet
Following the tour we were treated to a Tex-Mex buffet at a nearby
country club. You can find some photos on the JANE website.
The awards banquet featured three speakers and the traditional awards
ceremony.
Saturday Business Meeting
Saturday featured the usual business meeting, with about 56 club
delegates and 13 JCNA officials debating and voting on various issues
facing JCNA and its member clubs. Details of the resolutions can be
found in an attachment to the Event Report on the JANE website.
However, here are a few highlights:
The first speaker was a representative of the Virginia club describing the
upcoming 2013 JCNA Challenge Championship they are hosting June 1216 at the Wyndham Virginia Crossing Hotel (the same facility was used
for the 2011 JCNA AGM). This looks like a very nice event and is really an
easy drive from the Boston area. We hope some of our JANE members
will attend. You can see more information about the event at
http://www.jcna2013cc.com.
There is a serious concern at the national level about the inconsistency
in Concours judging standards across the various clubs. It would seem
that for some clubs the scoring in Champion Division revolves around
where in the 99’s your car will fall. There were discussions and
proposals on how to break multiple 100-point ties for national awards.
In contrast, I have been around JANE Concours for a decade, and I can
recall only two 100-point cars in that entire period. While no clear-cut
solution has been found, some constructive resolutions were passed:
I was the second speaker, though I did not speak for long. My purpose
was to pitch the 2014 AGM that we are hosting, and I was greatly aided
in that endeavor by an absolutely fabulous video presentation that Mike
Axford and I developed. We owe Mike many kudos for a really first class
job shooting the video and producing the end result. You can see it on
YouTube at http://youtu.be/siu7Rdi1sv8 or by going to the JANE website
and clicking on the flying banner at the top of the home page. Try it –
it’s really cool.
 Beginning with the 2014 season, for a local club to receive a JCNA
Concours sanction, they must have eight certified judges as active
members on their roster. The previous requirement was five judges.
Many of the smaller clubs opposed this resolution on the basis that
they borrowed judges from neighboring clubs. However, the majority
of the delegates agreed that this increased requirement for judges
training programs would help deal with the judging inconsistencies.
 While the existence of a JCNA judging guide implies that the rules
should be strictly applied in all Concours, there have been
documented instances where local clubs have chosen to “interpret”
the rules to suit their own situations. A clause was added to the
rulebook to explicitly prohibit such local deviations.
The final speaker was Fred Hammond, who is the Jaguar Cars of North
America liaison for JCNA. Fred filled us in on some of the highlights of
Jaguar sales in 2012 and plans for release of new models and new power
trains. You can find a link to a copy of his speech on the Event Report
about the AGM on the JANE website.
JANE received only two awards at the banquet. The first was a Third
Place newsletter article award that went to Tracey Levasseur for her
three-part series “What Is a Concours.” Congratulations Tracey! The
second award went to Ed Avis. JCNA President Dick Maury gave a special
Presidential Award to Ed Avis for his work on the JCNA Passport to
Service program, citing Ed’s extraordinary contribution to revitalizing
this important membership-oriented program. As many of you know, Ed
has done a fantastic job as Membership VP for JANE, and he has

AGM Report from JCNA
By Jerry Litz & Mike Meyer, AGM Delegates, Jaguar Club of Ohio
AGM delegates at work,
The AGM was held in Dallas and hosted by the Jaguar Drivers Club of
North Texas and Jaguar Owners Association of the Southwest. The
meeting started at 8 a.m. with opening remarks and a brief state of the
JCNA report by JCNA president Dick Maury. In general, JCNA is financially
sound and has remained steady at approximately 5,500 members. Also,
a new club has been formed in New Mexico. Dick advised that an
Electronic Media Committee had been formed and a President’s Award
has been created.
people to donate Jaguar cars, memorabilia and the such in a manner
that provides the donor a tax benefit. The location and details of the
trust are to be worked out by the board. The delegates voted to approve
the proposal.
Then we began work on the agenda items. The complete agenda is
available on the JCNA website for those who are interested. This report
will only focus on the highlights. The agenda started off with four
Discussion items. One of the items had to do with 1st Place ties in the
various classes. It was noted that there are an increasing number of
perfect scores by the end of the Concours season and it was suggested
that a tie breaker be instituted. A score totaling and averaging proposal
was presented as a method to break ties at the national awards level.
After much discussion, the general consensus was that better educated
judges and additional judges training would be a better way to handle
the matter.
The Electronic Media Committee will be responsible for revamping the
JCNA website as well as improving the club’s presence on social media
such as Facebook and Twitter. The President’s Award will be given to the
person that, in the president’s opinion, has made an outstanding
contribution to the club in the previous year.
In addition, Dick put forth a board proposal to create a nonprofit trust
to be operated by JCNA . The purpose of the trust is to provide a way for

policy changes as well as rule change proposals. For the most part these
changes were what could be best characterized as “housekeeping”.

into consideration when a club requests sponsorship. Lastly, Fred
announced that Jaguar is looking for XK120s, “C”, “D” and E-types for
use in its marketing displays around the country He asked that
members willing to loan out cars contact him. In return, those loaning
the cars would be invited to participate in the events.
Under the JCNA Administrator items, clubs were reminded of the
importance of keeping club addresses and contact information up to
date. Clubs were also urged to activate the PayPal dues payment option
for new members on their club home pages on the JCNA website. There
is evidence that doing so helps pull in new members. Once payment is
made, JCNA sends the local club a check for their portion of the dues.
Elections for President and Vice President were held. Dick Maury was
elected President and George Camp was elected Vice President. Closing
remarks were made by various board and committee members and the
meeting adjourned at 3 p.m. During the course of the two day AGM a
number of seminars
were held.
Under the JCRC
Proposals there were a
number of rule changes
put forth. Most of these
were clarifications and
minor revisions. One
change that generated a
lot of discussion
concerned the number of

Concours sanction.
Currently 5 or more
Certified Judges are
required. By a very close vote, this was changed to 8 or more with the
rule taking effect in 2013. The reasoning behind the change relates to
the tie breaker discussion held earlier. It was felt that having more
Certified Judges in each club will help improve the quality and diversity
of judging and reduce the number of ties. During the discussion, the
JCRC chairman reminded clubs of the importance of the Judge Training
Program.
One of the more
interesting was titled
“Growing Your Club
Through Social
Media”. It was
presented by a

you thought social

convince you
otherwise. The
statistics, market
info and technology associated with social media are overwhelming and
in some cases, especially regarding privacy, scary. There is no question
that, like it or not, use of social media by the clubs will be key to
bringing in new and younger members. There was also a very
informative seminar about Club Newsletters.
Other significant rule changes concern pinstripes and XK engine
cylinder head colors. New charts have been created for both and are
effective this year. Of note is that painted pinstripes are now deemed
non-authentic. Also, the rule was changed concerning the amount of
time allowed to file protests. Rally Committee proposals include rule
changes regarding the use of GPS devices. In a nut shell if the GPS is
“on-board” that is factory installed, its use is permitted. Slalom
Committee proposals were “housekeeping.”
Representatives for the Challenge Championship to be held in
Richmond, Virginia this summer, the 2014 AGM to be held in Boston,
Massachusetts, 2014 Western States event (location to be determined),
and the 2015 AGM to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania presented
updates for their respective events.
The rest of the meeting was devoted to the nineteen Committee Reports.
These included, Jaguar Cars and JCNA Liaison Reports, JCNA Financial
Report, Membership Report, Publications/Trophy/Regalia Report,
Business/Insurance Report, Legal Counsel Report, and Jaguar Journal
Report, to name a few.
Fred Hammond presented the Jaguar Cars Liaison report. In his report
he noted that sales for both Jaguar and Land Rover are improving and a
number of new Jaguar models are in the works. He feels the future of
Jaguar is very promising. Fred also pointed out that while Jaguar is
willing to assist JCNA and its members, Jaguar expects the clubs to make
it worthwhile. This includes maintaining a list of contacts on both the
JCNA and club websites. They also want to clubs to improve the quality of
their websites and be involved in social media. Jaguar takes all the above

2014 AGM to Cambridge:
Plans Moving Forward
By Dennis Eklof, Jaguar Association of New England (JANE)
As most of you undoubtedly already know,
JANE is hosting the JCNA Annual General
Meeting on the weekend of April 4, 2014.
This is a huge undertaking for our club, but
I am happy to report that we are moving
ahead aggressively with the event planning.
As chairperson of the planning committee I have a great group of
contributors who are energetically moving forward with planning. The
main features of the event are already finalized:
the evening, but we will keep you posted. As with Friday evening, the
banquet is open to all JANE members.
 The final event of the weekend will be a Sunday breakfast at the Larz
Anderson Auto Museum. While the Museum is not sufficiently large to
handle the 200+ attendees we anticipate on Friday night, we couldn’t
have the national meeting here without tying in such a unique
treasure as LAAM. All JANE members are also welcome at this Sunday
morning event.
If you want to stay up-to-date on what’s going on surrounding this
meeting, go to the JANE website. There you can sign up to get email
updates by clicking the 2014 AGM Info link, and you can read the
notes from all of our
planning meetings by
clicking the JCNA AGM
2014 Planning Notes
link. As the year passes,
we will need more and
more volunteers to
make all this happen, so
give me a shout and join
our group!
 The main venue will be the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Memorial Drive in
Cambridge. It will be a terrific venue for the event, with fine meeting
and banquet
spaces, space for
us to display over
20 cars, and newly
renovated guest
rooms.
 The Friday social
event will feature
an evening at the
MIT Museum, a
short bus ride from
the hotel. We will
be adding some
directly car-related
aspects to the
already fine
museum displays
representing MIT’s
engineering
excellence in
robotics,
holograms, and
other fascinating
engineering marvels. We also plan a fine spread of food and, of
course, a cash bar. The event will be open to all JANE members and
will be an excellent opportunity to see a new aspect of our area’s
culture, as well as meet Jag lovers from around the country. Put April
4th on your calendar!
 During most of Saturday, the delegates to the meeting will be tied up
with discussing and voting on various rule changes that will govern
JCNA events in 2014, but we plan to go all out in organizing a variety
of optional area activities for non-delegate attendees.
 Saturday evening there will be a cocktail reception and the annual
Awards Banquet. This is always a fun evening and another
opportunity to get to know JCNA members from across North
America. We are still working on selecting the main guest speaker for

2013 Challenge Championship:
a Pride of Jaguar in Richmond
By Ian Callum
Editor’s Note:
The following is an article written by Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, and posted to Jaguar Blog at the Interactive Jaguar website, where you also
can view a video about Jaguar at the 2013 JCNA Challenge Championship, at www.interactivejaguar.com.
At Jaguar, we really embrace our heritage, so it was important for me to be a part of this year’s Jaguar Clubs of North
America Challenge Championship in Richmond, Virginia. It’s the key annual gathering of all the Jaguar enthusiast clubs
in America. Five days of enjoying classic Jaguar cars on the road, the track and Concours field. I was the guest speaker at
the awards dinner and was able to present one of the top honors of the night; the ‘Best Design’ award.
Everyone I spoke to - and I spoke to a lot of really passionate owners - I tried to pass on the message that Jaguar, today, is
one company with one story. The core values we put into our cars now - design, performance, agility and glamour - are
the same as they were 50 years ago when Sir William Lyons was running the company. We really want the enthusiasts
who own our classics, like the members of the Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA), to become our brand
ambassadors. We want someone who maybe owns an E-Type to consider driving a new F-TYPE; someone who loves their
classic XJ to consider driving a new XF or XJ. Anyone with an XK120 or XK140 should look closely at our latest XK models.
17
To encourage this, we took along a line-up of our latest performance models to Richmond. Two supercharged V6 F-TYPE cars, an XKR-S GT, an XFRS, as well as the XF and a long-wheelbase XJ. As you’d expect, we gave non-stop hot laps in the FTYPE cars during the slalom part of the event at
Richmond International Raceway. The response to the F-TYPE was remarkable.
People kept telling me how great it was for Jaguar to be back to building a pure two-seat roadster; a car that looked so great, performed so well, and
sounded so sensational. I know a few orders were taken by the local dealers during the weekend.
One of my duties was to present an award for the ‘Best Design’ of the show. It was the first time the award had been given and we created this very
beautiful glass trophy especially for it. My single objective was to pick a car that simply looked great.
It was a tough decision, especially with all the E-Type models that were there, along with some of my favorite Jaguar cars, like the gorgeous XJC
Coupe, and extremely rare XJR-15, a car that I’d worked on in a former life. In the end, it was hard not to recognize Dr. David North’s 1936
Saoutchik-bodied SS100 roadster, at right. This was truly a wonderful car.
I find American classic car events like this to be very different from similar European ones. Americans seem to be a little less precious about
originality; they’re happy to modify their E-Type models to make them drive better, or look the way they want them.
I have to say that I find that very appealing. I recently bought a 1961 Mk2 Jaguar sedan that I’m having completely rebuilt to my specification. The
details are secret for the time being, but as a hint of what I’m doing, there’s a big 4.2-liter engine going under the bonnet.
Certainly throughout the Jaguar organization these days, our passion for our heritage is becoming much stronger and very genuine. That enthusiasm
is coming right from the top, from our CEO, Dr. Ralf Speth, who incidentally owns a rather beautiful Series 1 E-Type Roadster.
Thank you to everyone at JCNA for inviting me, and for putting on such a terrific event.
Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar, left, and Andy Goss, President, Jaguar Land Rover North America

Events Report: Bill Hall updated club members on upcoming events and
meetings including the Dayton Trip on August 24th.
For those of you that are new to our event, Cars and Coffee for Dystonia
was started 3 years ago by 17-year old Jacob Spielberg of Prospect. At age
8 Jacob was diagnosed with an neurological disease called Dystonia for
which there is no cure. Jacob traveled for medical treatments over the
years to help his debilitating disease and then finally being lucky enough
to receive a treatment called Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. Jacob has
"brain pacemakers" that help interfere with his genetic form of dystonia.
When Jacob was sick and in a wheel chair getting his treatments, he
always wanted to go look at all the cool cars, no matter where he was.
The foundation that connected Jacob with the best doctors and
treatments for his disease is the Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia and
Parkinson foundation. While Jacob spent many years recovering from
his DBS and is now living the very normal life of teenage boy. About 3
years ago Jacob decided to create a fundraiser to combine his love for
cars with a fundraiser event as a way to give back to the foundation that
has not only helped Jacob but so many other patients with Dystonia and
Parkinson’s. As a matter of fact, this past year, the foundation opened

Spring Fling Saddlebred Horse Farm Tour
Jaguar Drivers’ Club Road Trip
Saturday, April 20th, 2013
By Bill Hall, Activities Chair
Shelby County, Kentucky is “The American Saddlebred
Capital of the World,” because it is the home of many of
the country’s most outstanding American Saddlebred
breeding and training facilities.
We visited one particular horse farm, Undulata, which
was once owned by one of the founders of the breed.
Typically see we will see a horse worked, walk through
the barns, and a foal and mare. Tours are conducted at an
actual working horse farm, these are not typical
attractions. Stepping back in time on a hands-on tour of a working
Saddlebred Farm and stepping into the arena during a training session
was quite a thrill. Talking with an owner and a trainer. Watching these
distinctly skilled and
beautiful show horses as
they’re worked. Walking
through the barns. In the
spring and summer, petting
a new foal. And taking lots
of pictures – seeing this
“jewel of a breed” up-close is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Following the farm tour, we adjourned for lunch to the Science Hill Inn in
Shelbyville, Kentucky
Science Hill’s history as an outstanding preparatory school ran from 1825 until
1939. The name “Science Hill” derives from the fact the original school focused on
math & science, and was not just a finishing school. Many girls later graduated from
Wellesley College. The eastern portion of the property was purchased by the gentlemen Wakefield and Scearce and turned into
galleries and shops.
Today Science Hill is best known for its dining room - a restaurant in the finest Kentucky tradition. May we offer you the
warmth of the hearth and the best of the kitchen with the hope you will return often.

Elizabethtown Regional Airport (also known by its three letter
identification code—EKX) is one of the most modern airports in
the Commonwealth of Kentucky. EKX is a public general aviation
airport sponsored by the City of Elizabethtown and is managed by
an autonomous Board of Directors appointed by the City. The
airport operates under Federal and State regulations.
Anne and Roger Lawson operate the airport, and are the FBO (Fixed Base Operator) at EKX.
Swope’s Cars of Yesteryear Museum
The Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum features vehicles ranging from the early 1900's to the 1960's
in a variety of makes and models in both original condition and restored condition.
After years of planning and nine months of construction, Swope’s Cars of Yesteryear opened in May
1999. The collection consists of sixty magnificent machines of the past, all museum quality. These
are exciting automobiles that stir memories of long ago days when motoring was a fun-filled
adventure.
44
The museum allows car fans and collectors to admire the progression of automobiles over time. The Swope collection includes antique cars like the
1914 Model T and the 1925 Pierce Arrow to classics like the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and the 1956 Thunderbird.
Tony York’s on Main
Glendale Kentucky’s fine dining destination! Can’t make up your mind on what to select? Well
neither can we, so our menu changes daily. Our menu ranges from delicious gourmet salad
to amazing surf and turf.
Tony York’s on Main in
historic Glendale uses only
fresh ingredients and the
menu changes daily based on
what is in season and the
chef’s inspiration. So a trip to
Tony York's on Main -- which is both elegant and unpretentious -- is different every
time you visit.
Tony York’s serves up Kentucky-inspired dishes that are “kicked up a notch,” as
Emeril Lagasee would say. Recent menus featured blackened shrimp with grits, ahi
tuna, and prime rib with caramelized onions, meatloaf, chicken livers, fish and
chips, southern fried chicken and the German favorite, Jaeger schnitzel. There are
also vegetarian and even vegan meals available by special request.
The selection may seem limited for those with an Appleby’s appetite, but there are plenty of choices for those that prefer more of a culinary
experience. There is typically four to six hors d’oueuvers, two soups and two to three salads from which to choose for lunch and dinner, as well as
several entrees. For dinner, the best bet is the five-course dinner, which includes an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée and dessert for just $40.

Jaguar Prices 2014 F-type
Supercharged V-6 Model Starts at $69,895
By Kirk Seaman
This summer, Jaguar will release its first
true sports car in almost 50 years, the
2014 F-type—today, Jaguar revealed
what it will charge to own a piece of this
moment in its automotive history. The
F-type will be offered in three different
versions: all with rear-wheel drive, all
with supercharged engines, and all
sporting an eight-speed automatic
transmission. And all of them share the
same mission: to make Jaguar once
again a relevant contender in the world
of performance sports cars.
Initially, there will be three powertrains
for the roadster (a coupe version and a
manual transmission will follow soon):
 V-6: $69,895; the “entry-level” Ftype offers a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 340 horsepower and
332 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar estimates it
2014 Jaguar F-type V8 S and V6 S roadsters
will do 0–60 in 5.1 seconds and top
out at 161 mph. A sport suspension, 18-inch wheels, and a regular rear differential are all standard, as are steering-wheel-mounted paddle
shifters. A Meridian 380-watt audio system with 10 speakers is standard as well.

Jaguar Auction Results
SCM April 2013
Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale: January 13-20, 2013,
Scottsdale, AZ USA
roofliner, seats and carpeting. Instruments done to same standards.
Stunning wood accents and supple leather shift boot round out the
interior. Show-detailed engine bay and undercarriage confirm the car as
truly concours-ready. Cond: 1-.
SOLD AT $132,000. Coupes of this vintage are now finally starting to
get their due at auction, as in some cases they are even more scarce
than their convertible counterparts. This stately feline ticked all of the
boxes for bidders and sold for fair money.
#366-1968 JAGUAR XKE 2+2 coupe. S/N J681E78156BW.
Yellow/black leather. Odo: 8,480 miles. Numerous hood edge chips and
micro-pitting and dull areas in bright trim on both sides. Heavy pitting
on knockoff hubs. Taillight trim dented. Scratches on front and rear
glass. Both door gaps variable. Cond: 2-.
SOLD AT $24,200. Called a 2+2, but really a 2+¾ if you ask me, as
the rear seat is too small for humans. The automatic trans might have
let it down a bit as well, but I say this is fair to both parties.
#107-1954 JAGUAR XK 140 MC roadster. S/N S810337. Red/tan
cloth/tan leather. Odo: 3,204 miles. Gorgeous older restoration with
great attention to detail. Excellent paint with buffing marks evident. Very
slight door gap issues with fit probably to original factory standards.
Hood fit slightly off. Also some buffing marks in the chrome bumpers.
Interior excellent, with slight age cracks in seats and minor wear to
carpeting. Excellent trim and instrumentation. Perfect gauges and
controls. Spotless engine bay detailed for any JCNA event. Equally
spotless underside. Cond: 2-.
Gooding & Company Scottsdale: January 18-19, 2013,
Scottsdale, AZ USA
SOLD AT $126,500. This was an appealing color combination, and it
was good enough to overlook the very minor issues. Sold within estimate
after very slow-paced bidding between two determined-but-cautious
bidders. A fair deal for all.
#47-1952 JAGUAR XK 120 coupe. S/N 679724. Silver/gray leather.
Odo: 568 miles. Elegant little Jaguar restored to concours condition.
Paintwork the very best with equal attention paid to prep and panel fit.
Minor soiling of wheels and slightly hazy headlamps are the only two
negatives noted on exterior. Equally well-restored interior with new

RM Auctions, January 18, 2013, Phoenix, AZ USA
#181-1974 JAGUAR XKE Series III convertible. S/N UE1S25119.
Silver/ black cloth/red leather. Odo: 4,495 miles. Miles are actual with
long-term, very limited-use ownership. Other than a respray, an original,
time-warp car. Very nice original leather interior. Brightwork acceptable.
Equipped with a/c and wires. Cond: 3+.
#166-1953 JAGUAR XK 120 roadster. S/N 673913. Eng. # W8212B.
Ivory White/ black cloth/black leather. Odo: 49,189 miles. Recent
restoration with numerous mechanical upgrades, including larger
valves, forged piston and electric fans. Also has 5-speed gearbox.
Excellent body and panel fit with flawless leather interior. Should be a
wonderful tour car. Complete with JDHT certificate. Cond: 1-.
SOLD AT $77,000. An unrestored final-year E-type. Price paid was
about right for a presentable Series III, with the low miles thrown in for
free. New owner can drive the heck out of it or keep it as a preserved car
with no financial loss either way.
SOLD AT $121,000. The upgrades did not hurt the value here, as it
Bonhams: January 17, 2013 Scottsdale, AZ USA
sold for $25k more than Lot 138, the high-point XK 140 MC. Price paid
pushed the upper limit of retail, but any premium will soon be forgotten
after the first major tour.
#370-1951 JAGUAR MK V drophead coupe. S/N 647460. Eng. #
Z3482. Black & red/tan cloth/red leather. Odo: 65,263 miles. Top-grade
restoration 10 years old and holding up fine. Some very minor flaws and
paint swirls. Good matching chrome throughout. Excellent headlamps
and driving lamps. Cloth top unmarked. Cavernous rear trunk excellent.
Steel wheels, center hubs painted, chrome mock ears, wide whitewall
tires. Lovely red leather seats and door trim, red carpets, polished wood,
all the correct instruments. Clean and detailed engine and engine bay.
Matching numbers. Engine rebuilt at resto. Fitted very discreetly with
a/c. Cond: 2-.
#138-1956 JAGUAR XK 140 MC roadster. S/N S812042DN. Carmen
Red/tan fabric/ red leather. Odo: 56,546 miles. A factory-equipped “MC”
with C-type high-compression head that produces 210 horsepower.
Recent high-point restoration, has been driven only 1,000 miles since
completion. Popular OTS configuration. Cond: 1-.
SOLD AT $97,750. Sold in 2005 for $52k at Worldwide’s Seabrook, TX,
SOLD AT $93,500. The 140 offers a touch more leg room over the 120,
sale (SCM# 38326). One of just 972 dropheads with bigger 3.5-L.
Transitioned Jaguar out of the post-war era with vintage style, including
archaic suspension and handbuilt craftsmanship. With a/c, this would
make a comfortable tour car with good show potential. Sold in the room
about at a fair market value.
and the “MC” configuration adds about $10k to the package. Price paid
here was on the low side of market for a recently restored 140.

Silver Auctions: January 2013, Fort McDowell, AZ USA
#340-1957 JAGUAR XK 140 MC roadster. S/N S812485. Red/tan
cloth/tan leather. Odo: 2,724 miles. With a C-type cylinder head, period
aftermarket wood-rim steering wheel, and modern color-coordinated
seat belts. Very competent older restoration, but not a concours job.
Paint has obvious polishing scratches, but still presents well. Excellent
replated chrome, although the knockoffs have rust forming toward the
center of the rims. Door gaps slightly off. Seats show some light wear
and soiling. Cleaned-up engine bay. Rattle-can undercoating sprayed
over dirt and grease. Cond: 3+. NOT SOLD AT $69,000. A pretty
#407-1960 JAGUAR MK II 2.4 sedan. S/N 125443DN. Eng. #
BG327388. Black & silver/red leather. Odo: 139 miles. Better than it left
the factory when new. No miles since restoration. Paint in very good
condition, silver not quite as nice as black. Good panel fit except for left
rear door that needs adjustment. Chrome, glass, rubber, script all
excellent. Steel factory wheels very good with new tires. Lovely red
leather and superior wood veneers. Wilton wool headliner, carpets and
other details excellent. Dash and instruments perfect. Engine bay clean
and detailed. Undercarriage excellent. Cond: 2+.
decent car when it was redone, but now a nice driver not worth the
expense to restore. I’m not the only one to feel this way, as the car was
seen at Dan Kruse Houston in November 2012, selling for $76k (SCM#
214708); at Dan Kruse Austin in September, no-selling for $77k (SCM#
213405); and at RM Plymouth in July, selling for $63k (SCM# 209068).
Market-correct high bid here.
NOT SOLD AT $42,000. The Mk II Jaguar sedan was a popular car that
offered real luxury at an affordable price and was another milestone
design success for William Lyons. Built 1960–67 and fitted with the
venerable XK engine in 2.4-, 3.4- or 3.8-liter form. (The 3.4 was the base
model, and the 2.4 was directed at the economy market.) Fine cars, but
prone to rust bugs and not easy to restore cost-effectively, as seen here.
$120k in resto receipts with no chance of recovery. Worth the $55k low
estimate.
Russo and Steele: January 2013, Scottsdale, AZ USA
#399-1964 JAGUAR XKE convertible. S/N 881232. Eng. # RA59989.
Cream/black canvas/red leather. Odo: 66,547 miles. Restoration from
2007 and driven little since. Very good paint, good panel fit, nice
chrome. New chrome wires with oversize tires, some hammer dents on
knockoff ears. Wiper scratch and one stone chip. Nice interior leather,
wrong center console and armrest, period radio. Scuttle-mounted
antenna needs attention. Good dash and instruments. Clean engine bay,
missing wheelwell rubber seal. Carburetor air box removed. Spare wheel
in trunk worn and pitted. No hammer or tool roll. Could use some
expert sorting. Includes Heritage certificate. Cond: 3+.
#F403-1966 JAGUAR MK II 3.8 saloon. S/N P1B79246BW. Black/tan
leather. Odo: 87,546 miles. In same ownership for over 25 years. Very
correct and stock-looking. Originally gold, body still solid. Paint shows
some checking and crazing. Chrome and trim are decent. Interior has
been redone. Engine rebuilt years ago. Original Borg-Warner 3-sp auto
swapped for a 700R4 for drivability. Steering box was replaced with a
rack-and inion system. Cond: 3+.
NOT SOLD AT $23,000. The S-type has great road manners for a four-
door. It has a wider track than an E-type and actually handles better.
High bid was $15k short of the seller’s hopes. They drove it back home
to Sedona.
SOLD AT $92,000. Decent example of the legendary sports car with
monocoque construction that revolutionized the company fortunes and
the sports-car world. Needs some attention to detail to be really proper.
Well sold in the room at just above low estimate.

enthusiasts with a common interest in owning, maintaining, and
driving the world’s most beautiful automobiles. The Jaguar Drivers’

The purpose of our club is to promote
interest in the preservation, operation
and ownership of Jaguar automobiles and

as a source of technical information,
establish rules and regulations governing all activities of the Club, and
promote good sportsmanship at all times. Membership is open to
owners of Jaguar automobiles and to others interested in furthering the
