Hurley Easy Going Route
Hurley Easy Going Route The Hurley Easy Going Route is a beautiful, rural, trail of approximately 5km. it comprises two loops of around 2.5k which can be combined to form the longer route. The route takes in the historic village of Hurley as well as a section of the Thames Path and some of the best riverside scenery in the Borough. Whilst the route surface is predominantly natural, some sections are surfaced with limestone scalpings and road planings, and the section through the village centre is paved and tarmacked. There are dropped kerbs at the crossing points in the village and all of the gates on the route are easy access and allow mobility scooters through. The route is naturally flat although there are three bridges. The newly installed bridge on the Thames Path has a gradient of 1:10 whilst the other two bridges across the river at Hurley Lock are steeper. All of the footpaths along the route are easily wide enough to accommodate mobility scooters: one section of pavement through the village centre is narrow and extra care should be taken here. There are numerous benches and resting places along the route and some wonderful views of the river to enjoy. There are accessible toilets at Hurley Lock and an open air café that operates from April to September. There are also two pubs in the village centre, The Rising Sun and The Olde Bell, and a small village shop run by local residents. Parking for the route is at the Hurley Parish Car Park, High Street, Hurley, SL6 5NN.
