July-August Newsletter - Fremont Community Theatre
JULY/AUGUST 2014 Volume 41/Issue 1 July/August 2014 Fremont Community Theatre more than a stage in your life Something New by Cyndi Hineline, Madame President If you happen to be among our large numbers that receive the electronic version of “Spotlight on FCT,” I know what you’re thinking…Wow! That’s a LOT of purple! And what’s with the PINK? I’ll get to that in a minute. As happens once in a while, we’ve had a changing of the guard in more places than one. By the time that most of you receive this newsletter, the new Board will have taken over, and the 2014-2015 Season will be upon us before you know it! And with new people comes, you guessed it, change. We’ve been working toward this for a few years now. Many of you have noticed our new logo, and the “freshening up” of the theatre. We’ve also been actively trying to get reacquainted with the outside community, and now attend the Downtown Farmer’s Market on a regular basis. And many audience members are taking advantage of our ability to take credit cards at the Box Office. You may have also noticed the changes in our season a little bit, with the addition of a “Spotlight Show.” While many audience members and actors find that they want to see and perform in more modern shows and expand their theatrical experience, it’s getting harder for us to find any that do not have what might be considered “inappropriate” content to many of our audience members. Like many other theatres, we have created this special spot in our season for those shows that Volume 41/ Issue 1 IN THIS ISSUE Coming Soon “The most dangerous phrase in the language is ‘we’ve always done it this way.’” – Grace Hopper FCTT’s production of “Shrek the Musical” Page 2 might be considered a little more “adult” than, something like “The Sound of Music.” The new “Spotlight Show” is not included on your Season Ticket, but you may still see it at a discounted rate if you are a Season Ticket holder! We just wanted to give our ticket holders the option of NOT seeing it if they found the show to not be suitable to their taste. Casting Call Director Mitchell Antesky announces auditions for the upcoming production of The Last Five Years. Page 2 Keep an eye out and read every issue of your newsletter this year because we’re going to have some splendiferous events for you to attend and get involved with throughout the year! The teens are working super hard on “Shrek the Musical” and I, for one, can’t wait to see the finished product! We’re also hoping to fit in another PIAD in August (see Page 4), and the Teen Theatre Alumni are celebrating what they are calling their 30th Official Anniversary (see Page 5). Because I said I’d get back to it, and I’m running out of room…this is my first newsletter (ever)! So please bear with me while I deal with my own changes – I promise the next one won’t look quite so garish! I do hope you enjoy the layout in the meantime, and I look forward to spending the upcoming Season with all of you! 2014 Laurel Awards Find out who got what at the recent awards dinner.
