Manrose Manufacturing continues to maintain its position at
the forefront of the ventilation and fan equipment market. The
company has been manufacturing practical, reliable ventilation
equipment for over 23 years and credits its success to a simple
philosophy of offering cost-effective, innovative products to suit
any requirement.
Manrose’s research and development team has consistently
produced products that stand out from the rest, bringing them
to market through a team of experienced professionals who
understand the needs of our customers. Our policy of ongoing
investment in product development has been a key force in
driving the company to the top of the ventilation fans and
equipment market.
The 2000m2 head office complex is divided into administrative,
sales and assembly areas, and is responsible for logistics on
an ever-growing product range of over 2000 items. In addition
to the established 4000m2 manufacturing facility in Reading,
Manrose have opened a new distribution centre close by.
Thanks to an understanding of local needs and standards,
Manrose are able to design products that are ideally suited to
UK installers and fully compliant with the latest legislation. And
that commitment to quality has also enabled us to make highly
profitable inroads into the Far Eastern markets, reversing the
general trend and creating more exports for the UK. This is
clear evidence that the benefits of innovative design, ease of
installation, energy efficiency and sensible pricing we bring to
the UK market are also appreciated further afield.
At the heart of Manrose’s operation is a total commitment
to the UK market, evidenced by the ongoing expansion
of manufacturing facilities. Our production facility is fully
operational and we operate 27 state-of-the-art moulding
machines, ranging from 25 tonnes to 450 tonnes. Our
capabilities also include three extrusion machines for flat
channel ducting, as well as five machines for the production of
PVC and aluminium foil ducting.

A sealed cooling system for the machinery allows
the facility to operate 24 hours a day, developing and
manufacturing new families of fans encompassing
domestic, commercial and industrial applications. As does the
fully automated drying and material feed system, the automatic
colour dosing system and the state of the art conveyor system
that delivers moulding to a central position for sorting, checking
and packing.
Also impressive is the electronic assembly system, where
dedicated teams work together in assembling equipment with
great skill in a positive working environment.
With locations close to the M4 at Slough and Reading, our fleet
of vehicles provides fast access to the country’s main arteries,
ensuring quick delivery from our extensive warehouses, where
we hold four weeks of stock at any one time.
Manrose’s innovations are the result of listening to customers
and understanding their needs. With energy efficiency now a
prime consideration, and often compulsory for new buildings,
we have ensured that all of our products offer optimum
performance, as well as introducing added value features such
as the humidistat controlled fan.
The humidistat fan is controlled in relation of humidity levels in
the space rather than a pre-set run time. This ensures that the
space is thoroughly ventilated without wasting energy through
over-ventilating. Similar efficiency improvements are afforded by
our occupancy-controlled fans, which switch off when the space
has been vacated for a pre-set time. In enabling fans to interact
with their environment in this way, Manrose provides end users
with a high level of comfort with minimal cost of ownership.

The Problems Caused by Poor Ventilation
Siting the Fan Correctly
Stale Air
A fan should always be sited in the furthest window or wall from
the main source of air replacement to avoid short-circuiting the
airflow. It should be located as high as possible in the window
or wall nearest to smells or steam, but not directly above eyelevel grills or cooker hoods.
Stale air can be caused by cooking smells, smoking, odours
remaining in the bathroom, a general lack of ventilation around
the house as well as a damp atmosphere.
All these problems cause an avoidable level of discomfort as
well as the risk of respiratory illness and general poor health.
Condensation
Problems occur when steam from the kitchen or bathroom
finds cooler surfaces around the house on which to condense.
Attempts to conserve heat by sealing windows - and therefore
reducing natural ventilation - makes this problem even worse.
Condensation can cause considerable problems from peeling
wallpaper and mould growth to severe structural damage such
as wood rot and damp.
Solving the Problems
Building Regulations
The Building Regulations Document F1 (2006 Edition) outlines
the importance of ventilation and stipulates that mechanical
ventilation must be installed in kitchens, bath/shower rooms
and toilets.
All Manrose fans comply with or exceed current Building
Regulations and are capable of extracting no less than 60 litres
per second from kitchens and no less than 15 litres per second
from bath/shower rooms. This means that humidity is removed
at source before it can reach the cooler part of the dwelling
and cause damage.
If the room contains a fuel burning device (such as a gas
boiler) with a non-balanced flue, it is essential that there is
enough replacement air to prevent fumes being drawn down
the flue when the fan is extracting to its utmost capacity.
IEE Regulations (U.K.) require that a conventional mains voltage
fan in a bathroom or shower must be located where it cannot
be touched by a person using the bath or shower and well
away from any water spray.
Alternatively, the new Manrose range of 12 volt S.E.L.V. (Safety
Extra Low Voltage) fans are specifically designed for the safe
ventilation of toilets, bathrooms and shower rooms and can be
fitted within the splash area with absolutely no risk of
electric shock.
Choosing the Right Manrose Fan
Remember
•
Axial Fans: are designed to move air over short distances
i.e. window fixing or through mounting and are not suitable
for ducting over 2 metres in length. Available in 4", 5", 6", 9"
and 12" sizes.
•
Centrifugal Fans are designed to move air over longer distances and will perform well against the pressure
caused by long lengths of ducting and resistance by grilles.
N.B. When ducting vertically it is recommended that a
condensation trap is used.
•
Humidistat Controls: Manrose have a complete range of integral Humidistat Controls on all their fans, they are also available with a pullcord the bathroom and off as it falls.
It will continue to monitor the humidity 24 hours per day,
thus preventing mould growth on walls and ceilings and
drastically reduces condensation problems.
Specific requirements of The Building Regulations Document
F1 (2006 Edition) on ventilation are as follows:
• Bathrooms/Shower Rooms:
he Regulations require a fan capable of minimum extract

installed.
• Toilets (Separate from a Bathroom):
he Regulations require a fan capable of a minimum extract

capacity of 6 litres per second 21m3/hr (12CFM) when
installed. N.B. If a room does not contain an openable
window the fan should be fitted with a 15 minute over-run
timer.
• Kitchens:
The Regulations require a fan capable of extracting 60 litres
per second 216m3/hr (127CFM) when installed.
• Utility Rooms:

the room volume in cubic metres i.e. length x breadth x height and then
multiply by the number of air changes required.

Safety Extra Low Voltage Bathroom/Shower Extractor Fans
• Designed for wall, ceiling or window mounting, the 12 Volt
(SELV) fans are available in three diameters - 100mm (4"),
120mm (5") and 150mm (6") and in seven options.
• Suitable for mounting within the splash area of a
shower or bath (where current regulations prevent the
use of conventional fans), the 12 Volt fan is a standard
model manufactured with a 12V - 50Hz shaded pole
motor. The transformer and switching mechanism is
mounted remotely either in the roof space or high
on the ceiling next to the pullcord switch. Obviously
pullcord, humidistat, PIR and versions have to be
mounted inside the room where the fan is installed
and out of the reach of the person using the bath or
shower.
• A Centrifugal 12 Volt fan is available, fitted with a
backward curved centrifugal impeller for large airflow
against the high pressures caused by longer lengths of
ducting and resistance by grilles.

T12 Series
remote Transformer
• Designed to power 12V low voltage fans installed in
the splash area of the shower or bath, the T12 series
of Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) transformers can
be mounted in the loft area (not Pullcord, Humidistat
or PIR models) or high-up on the ceiling next to the
pullcord light switch.
• There are 14 models in the range, all fitted with a neon
light and complete with pattress.
• The units are manufactured using impact resistant,
high gloss ABS thermoplastics for strength, durability
and easy cleaning.
• Transformer with cover removed showing adjuster
knobs.

Slimline Wall Fan Kit Range
• Designed for use in bathrooms, toilets and shower
rooms, the Slimline Wall Fan has a unique profile of
only 15mm.
• Utilising a revolutionary design concept, the unit is
mounted inside the wall, 175mm from the face of
the internal wall which enables installation within the
splash area of a shower or bath (where regulations
prevent the installation of conventional fans).
• Unobtrusive and quiet, the SF100W has an extract
rate of 85m3/hr 23 litres per second, whilst the larger
SF120W extracts 130m3/hr 36 litres per second. The
SF150W, the largest fan in the range, has a maximum
performance of 230m /hr, 64 litres per second.
• The SF100W/120W/150W fan kits include an in-line
tube fan with a mounted spring loaded backdraught
shutter, a length of 380mm flexible aluminium
telescopic ducting, one white internal and one grey
external fixed louvre wall grille, self adhesive cable
clips, fixing screws and plugs.
• Easy to follow instructions make installation simple.

Centrifugal Fan Range
• The CF100, CF200 and CF400 centrifugal fans use
the latest technology to provide extremely powerful,
yet very quiet and vibration free ventilation. The
CF100/200 ranges are designed for bathrooms, toilets,
cloakrooms, utility rooms, and the CF400 is designed
for kitchens and commercial applications, such as
restaurants, hotels and offices.
• Designed to move air over long distances, these
units will give maximum performance even against
pressures caused by long lengths of ducting and
resistance by grilles.
• All models are fitted with a built-in spring operated

zinc coated metal telescopic wall
liners. Installation is made simple in
solid or cavity walls 155–300mm
thick, or in walls up to 553mm thick
using an extension sleeve.

• The internal and external grilles are
a single tough moulding. This greatly
reduces vandalism and increases

high performance extractor fans
have an extract rate up to 278m3/hr,
77 litres per second for the 150mm
unit, 668m3/hr, 185 litres per second

power is provided by a 4 pole single
phase induction motor with pre-oiled

• MANROSE Commercial Window Fans are available
in three sizes, 150mm (6"), 230mm (9") and 300mm
(12").
• The stylish internal louvre incorporates the internal
shutters which are built into the grille so the internal
profile of the fan is less obtrusive. These elegant and
stylish units will blend into the background and cover a
wide variety of commercial applications such as pubs,
restaurants, hotels, offices, shops and factories.
• They are also suitable for use in public sector areas
such as service stations, hospitals, schools and railway
stations and are designed for heavy usage. Available in
a soft neutral grey or traditional white, they will blend in
with most decors and surroundings.
• Another feature of the range is that on the grey models
the external grille is moulded in a dark grey so it will
not be too obtrusive on the window line, and blend into
the background. The grey commercial series does not
require as much cleaning as their white counterparts.
• Available with automatic Shutters or pullcord operated
shutters.

• As with their window counterparts the shutters are
incorporated into the internal louvre which protects the
shutters from vandalism.
•The series now incorporates the latest ventilation
technology and a new stylish design the commercial range
has an extract rate of 278m3/hr, 77 litres per second for
the 150mm (6") unit 668m3/hr, 185 litres per second with
the 230mm (9") unit and 1100m3/hr, 306 litres per second
on the larger 300mm (12") units.
• These fans are all manufactured using high impact
ABS thermoplastics for strength and durable
aesthetics. The easy cleaning ABS is also of recyclable
material. For 230mm (9") and 300mm (12") models
power is provided by a 4 pole single phase induction
motor with pre-oiled bearings for a long maintenance
free life. The 150mm (6") version is fitted with a shaded
pole motor with ball bearings.
• Also available are stylish speed controllers on the
full range. The COMTSCV variable speed controller
is suitable for the 150mm (6") series. While the
COMTSVR variable / reversible controller is suitable for
230mm (9") and 300mm (12") series.

The ManiVent is an ultra slim whole-house ventilation
system incorporating features designed to make

Improved controllability
With the growing concerns about over ventilating properties,
the Multispeed Multivent offers the option of ‘Close Control’
both in the residential and the commercial sectors. With a DC
motor that can be set to ventilate any area up to 444m3, the
Multispeed Multivent is one of the most efficient central extract
unit in the UK.
The unit has 2 fully variable speed for trickle and boost, with a
switched live (LS) activation to the higher speed.
The new potentiometer controlled speed selector allows
accurate setting of airflow, ensuring exactly the right ventilation
rate. This feature also reduces noise, and
energy consumption.

ManiHeat Panel Heaters
Manrose Standard Panel Heaters are perfect for smaller rooms such as bedrooms,
studies, conservatories and loft conversions. IP24 rated. Manrose Panel Heaters
offer a wide range of heat outputs from 750W to 2000W and every model is
available with or without a timer. Manrose Panel Heaters look as good as they
perform. Stylish and slim, they occupy minimum wall space and are finished in an
attractive White finish. Manrose Panel Heaters are wall mounted and connected to
the permanent electrical supply via a fused connection switched outlet.
All Manrose Panel Heaters have a built-in adjustable thermostat offering a full
temperature range, including a frost protection setting of 5ºC. For maximum safety
there is a thermal cutout on all models to prevent overheating, should the outlet
grille be accidentally covered
