Southfields Academy Weekly Newsletter Week commencing Monday 12th September 2016 Ethos statement: We believe that through individual commitment, self discipline, integrity and respect for others, we inspire everyone to learn. 2016 Exam Results Well done to all our Year 13 for some fantastic A Level results! Year 11 – you achieved the best ever set of GCSE’s. Congratulations and make sure you get a place in the 6th Form for your next years of study. Just a few of our achievers! GCSE’s 100m and 200m Glory – Kyle Reynolds-Warmington Competing at his first Nationals in both the 100m and 200m, he went into the competition as a clear favourite. On the Saturday Kyle managed to hold his nerve in the 100m to hold off the Medway & Maidstone athlete and clinch his first gold and National title all whilst running a PB and breaking the 11 second barrier with a time of 10.98 to set another club record. It was then onto the 200m where he was a firm favourite and the race seemed like a formality. Ever the professional though, Kyle held his form and cruised to victory to take the double gold and national titles. Kyle’s performances can be viewed here: http://www.runjumpthrow.com/videos/19840 100m http://www.runjumpthrow.com/videos/19901 200m Thought for the Week “The distance is nothing; it's only the first step that is difficult." Marquise du Deffand – Patron of the Arts Welcome Year 7 – Ms Lindau Wednesday 7th September was the first day for our fabulous new intake of Year Seven students. They arrived promptly, a little nervous, but resplendent in their new uniforms and ready to start their secondary school career at Southfields Academy.
