First, a BIG thank you to Robert Elwood and the crew at the Atomic Speed Shop. The cruise in was a great hit. ETM members attending were: Jim Hill, Brent Ledgerwood, John & Debbie Foster, Erik Vogeley & son Sam, Bill Robinson, Katie Yaroch, Ken & Kim Nelson, Jim Payne, David Schmitt (new member), and Mike & I. The parking lot looked like a dealership! Along with the ETM members several Mopar friends stopped by to talk car and sit a spell. Jack, the head mechanic gave everyone a tour of the shop and answered all questions. There was plenty of car talk to go with the coffee and donuts. What a great way to spend a morning. The following weekend several ETM members made the track down to Ringgold, GA for the MoParty Picnic. What a fantastic turn out - 250 Mopars showed up! Driving down 75 south was Jim Hill in his Fury, John Henry in his Charger, Bill Robinson in his Duster, and Mike & I bringing up the rear in our Ram. We arrived at the picnic around 11:30 that morning. Mopar folks from Alabama followed us in. There was everything in the car field - muscle, race, trucks, new, stock, and modified. Everyone was asked to bring a covered side dish to go with the BBQ. There was plenty to go around for several helpings! Herb McCandless, The Ram Chargers, and Ken Hensley were there for Q & A and some great story telling. I had the opportunity to visit with friends from the North GA Mopar Club and Music City Mopars. And made new friends from the Tennessee Valley Mopar Club. There are plans in the making for another get together next year. A Letter from Chris Greetings from the Pacific Northwest, ETM Mo-fans! It’s official, I have been out here over 6 months. Still trying to get the lay of the land and figure out what’s what. I’m currently trying to hunt down the local Mopar club. A little birdie has told me that it may be the Mid Columbia Mopars. I narrowly missed the show-andshine event at Lithia Dodge in Kennewick by a few days. Plum crazy Pony, my 2013 Bosak-built Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is doing fine. It was able to “stretch its legs” on the trip out to Washington state from Tennessee. There were ample opportunities to open the throttle up on long stretches of wide open interstates. It was especially interesting to learn that the Montana Highway Patrol never paid me any mind when I cruised through their radar at 15 mph over on a particularly long stretch if I-90. (Posted speed limit: 75 mph, Me: 90 mph) Things got a tad sketchy with the snow and ice back in December/January time frame. But, Pony handled it well and the traction control built into the new Dodges is worth its weight in gold. Pony was able to traverse the snow covered streets with ease. One thing about the Tri-cities here in Washington… this is definitely MOPAR COUNTRY! The big Dodge dealership for this area is Lithia over in Kennewick. Chances are, if you skip a stone, you’ll hit a new model Dodge Charger, Challenger or RAM truck. –especially Ram trucks!- In one day, I observed four different Dodge Challenger Hellcats on the streets of Richland and Kennewick. How did I know this? Because all four were different colors!!! Currently, Lithia Dodge has two Dodge Challenger Hellcats on their showroom floor with two more on delivery. They sell a LOT of them! Over the past 6 months, I have seen many old Mopars, too! I have spied Plymouth Cudas, Dodge Darts, a 1974 Dodge Charger just up the street from my apartment and even saw an authentic Plymouth Super Stock with altered wheel base cruising up Bombing Range Road in West Richland. New model Mopar owners are definitely a friendly breed out here. Challenger and Charger owners are quick to give you a wave or a thumbs-up as you pass by. (Unlike all the kids in their import rice tuners that want to race you… or you’re driving Judy’s Ford Bronco) It’s obvious that Mopar folks are a different breed… and that’s a good thing! Hope everyone is having good time. The clock is steadily winding down for the Fun in the Sun car show at Chilhowee Park. It’s a great time of year for us Mopar folks because it means good weather and good weather means CAR SHOW SEASON!!! Everyone stay safe and have fun. If ya see Bobby G… tell him I said “hey”.
