electing three members to
the cooperative’s board of
trustees, informing members
of the cooperative’s financial
performance and future
plans, and awarding 10
scholarships to area students.

(District 6) were re-elected to three-year terms
and Mike Trotter (District 5) was newly elected
to the Mid-Rivers Board of Trustees.

received a door prize of $500 in

Mid-Rivers continued its
commitment to education by
awarding ten $500 scholarships
through a drawing of students
attending the meeting. These
ten scholarships are offered to
any student attending a higher
education institution in the fall of
2013 whose parent or guardian
is a member of the Cooperative. Through
this drawing and the $35,000 in competitive
scholarships awarded earlier in the year, MidRivers was able to contribute to the educational
futures of 45 students from 14 communities.

2005 after nearly 34 years

2013 Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship Recipients
• Katy Phipps, Jordan, plans on majoring in Nursing at Sheridan
College, and hopes to return to the area after the completion of her
education.
Mid-Rivers Communications is proud to announce the recipients of 45
Higher Education Scholarships to students from the Cooperative’s service
area totaling $40,000. Scholarships were awarded to high school seniors
planning to attend a technical school, community college, or a four-year
college or university and current college students planning to return to
college in the fall of 2013.
• Jared Rosaaen, Lambert, plans to attend North Dakota State
University in Fargo to study Agricultural Engineering or Agricultural
Systems Management, and return to production agriculture.
A $1,000 Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship has been awarded to
the following recipients:

• Lindsay Stickel, Fallon, will attend Montana State UniversityBozeman to study Human Services and Music.

• Jonathan Skipper, Lewistown, will pursue a career in video game
design, attending DigiPen Institute of Technology to earn a degree in
Video Game Design.
• Amy Bieber, Sidney, plans to study Accounting and Business
Management with the hope of opening her own accounting firm.
• Heather Skogas, Baker, intends to become a secondary art teacher
by obtaining degrees from Dawson Community College in art and
education.
• Taylor Brown, Richey, intends to become an Agriculture Education
teacher and return to Eastern Montana after earning a degree from
Montana State University-Bozeman.
• Brette Svenvold, Glendive, will be attending Montana State
University-Bozeman to study Civil Engineering.
• Andrew Butcher, Lewistown, will attend Montana Tech where he will
pursue a degree in Engineering and play football.
• Martha Dembek, Winnett, plans to attend Montana Tech studying
Nursing; she wants to become a nurse in rural Montana.
• Emily Vest, Roundup, will attend Montana State University-Bozeman
to study Pre-Medicine with hopes of continuing her education at the
University of Washington’s medical school.
• Ryan Espeland, Baker, will pursue a career as a filmmaker by attending
the University of California LA or Montana State University-Bozeman.
• Matthew Warn, Miles City, wants to become a chemical engineer,
and will attend Montana State University in pursuit of this goal.
• Rowena FitzGerald, Jordan, plans to attend Montana State
University-Billings in the fall, majoring in Business Administration.
• Elizabeth Williams, Miles City, hopes to become an teacher by
pursuing a degree in elementary education from Black Hills State
University.
• Rio Frame, Glendive, plans to attend the Montana State UniversityBillings, pursuing degrees in English and Business with hopes of
working in publishing, and will also compete in cross country and
track.
• Kaitlyn Goroski, Wibaux, will be attending Montana State UniversityBozeman in the fall of 2013, with aspirations of becoming a County
Extension Agent.
• Alexis Gruba, Miles City, plans to attend the University on Montana
where she will pursue a degree in Psychology.
• Jarrett Guyer, Lewistown, will attend the United States Military
Academy at West Point, in pursuit of a degree in computer science,
engineering, or physics. Jarrett will serve as an officer in the Army
following his graduation from West Point.
• Alex Kurtz, Glendive, intends to pursue a career as a cardiologist
by attending Carroll College for Pre-Medicine and continuing on to
medical school.
• Savanah Leidholt, Miles City, plans to attend Montana State
University-Bozeman pursuing a degree in Biological Anthropology.
• YuSheng Li, Glendive, will attend the University of Washington
studying Pre-Medicine; he hopes to become a neurosurgeon.
• Chandler Losing, Baker, plans on attending the University of Tulsa to
pursue a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
• Kara Mantooth, Lewistown, will attend the University on Montana
to study biology in pursuit of a career in medicine.
• Tyler Zinne, Ryegate, will attend Northwest Community College in
pursuit of a career in petroleum engineering.

• Taylor Bartholomew, Miles City, is currently attending Montana
State University-Northern where he is majoring in Diesel Technology.

Anna Claypool, Miles City, plans to attend Montana State UniversityBillings in pursuit of a degree in psychology, eventually becoming a

• Alexandria Farnsworth, Sidney, will continue her interest in
medicine by attending Utah Valley University. She plans to become
a doctor.
• Jamie Fischer, Baker, will enter her final year of college in the fall and
complete her degree in public relations.
• MaKenzie Johnson, Lambert, will continue her education at Carroll
College in Helena where she is double-majoring in biology and
sociology. She plans to become a pediatrician.
• Mara Kuehn, Glendive, plans to attend Montana State UniversityBozeman in the fall where she will purse psychology and pre-medical
degrees.

Geophysical Engineering at Montana Tech in Butte.
