Vehicle Safety Tips It is always nice to get into a warm car when it is cold outside, but never leave your car unattended when warming it up, even for "just a minute." It only takes a second for your vehicle to be stolen. Driving on Ice or Snow 






Clear all snow and ice from your windows and lights. Allow yourself extra time to reach your destination. Leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you. Don’t use cruise control or overdrive on icy roads. Steer, brake and accelerate slowly so you don’t lose control of your vehicle. Gently brake to avoid skidding. If your wheels lock up, ease off the brakes. Leave plenty of room for stopping. It takes more time and distance to stop on snow and ice.  Take extra caution on bridges and overpasses, since they will freeze first.  Keep your lights turned on to increase your visibility to other motorists. Always roll up the windows, close sunroof and lock the car, even if it's in front of your home. Park in busy, well‐lighted areas. Do not move valuable items to the trunk while in public view. Never leave valuables in plain view. Put them in the trunk or out of sight. Remove portable electronic devices such as smart phones and GPS navigation systems, including the mounting bracket, before leaving your vehicle. Do not leave the garage door opener in plain view. Carry the registration and insurance card with you. Don't leave personal identification documents or credit cards in your vehicle.
