Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to Noelani Elementary School! The new school year has begun and the faculty is excited to meet
their new group of students. Noelani Elementary is a great school and much of our successes are due to the
partnerships that we have with our families. I encourage all of you to get involved with your child’s education
and participate and help with our school events.
Please stay informed by checking your child’s backpack daily for the first week of school. I apologize in
advance for the overabundance amount of papers that will be coming home. However, some are important,
time-sensitive materials that need to be returned to school. After the first week, distribution of school information will be limited to Thursdays of each week and the parent bulletin that is posted online by the 2nd Thursday
of each month. Hard copies will only be made available in the front office.
In addition, if you have not done so already, please take about 15 minutes to read the Noelani Handbook
section of your child’s homework planner. For students in grade K, a separate handbook was printed and will
be distributed during the first week of school. The handbook, which is also on our school website, provides
you with information about our school policies, procedures, and expectations. We hope it will help you to become better familiar with our school.
Our Open House will be held on Thursday, August 4 starting at 6:00 pm. We have a general assembly (and
brief PTA meeting) in the cafeteria followed by 20-minute classroom visitations starting at 6:30 pm. Teachers
will be disseminating information on classroom procedures and expectations. If further conversations are
needed, please make an appointment with the teachers for a later time.
For more information about Noelani Elementary and our school activities, please visit our school website,
www.noelani.k12.hi.us. I look forward to meeting all of you soon.
Sincerely,
Rochelle Mahoe, Ph.D.
Principal
